Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 16 Brought Back An Old Story To Help Trigger Benson’s Past Trauma And It Was Glorious
Image
Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 16 got me good.

I didn’t understand why we needed a sequel to Ellie’s coma story, but it all came together beautifully.

I especially appreciated the connection to Benson’s personal history—something Law & Order: Svu used to do regularly but has forgotten in recent years.

(Virginia Sherwood/NBC) First, A Refresher About Benson’s History In Case You Need It

Benson’s history as a product of rape was established in Law & Order: Svu’s pilot episode in 1999.

The pilot was also the one and only time we met her mother, who worried that Benson was getting in over her head by working for the Special Victims Unit.

Olivia Benson Revisits an Old Case in ‘Law & Order: Svu’ Season 26, Episode 16 Promo
Image
In the next episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, the team is revisiting a case from earlier in the season. In the upcoming Season 26 episode, "Let Me Bring Pardon" the team is made aware the victim from Season 26, Episode 4 "Rorschach", who had been in a coma the entire time, is now pregnant. The news sends shockwaves through the team, as the only way she could've become pregnant was if someone assaulted her while she was in a coma. The suspect pool looks to be the hospital staff, or her boyfriend, Chris Becker (Graham Patrick Martin), at the time, who is now in jail for the original assault that put her in the coma.

Mammootty in Rorschach (2022)
Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 Recap “Rorschach” – Campground Carnage
Mammootty in Rorschach (2022)
“Rorschach,” the latest Law & Order: Svu episode, offered a twist as convoluted as its titular psychological test. A young influencer couple’s idyllic road trip—meticulously documented for their followers, naturally—turned grim when they were attacked at a campground. Ellie Hughes (Jen Parker Davis) ended up in critical condition, and Chris Becker (Graham Patrick Martin), her […]

Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 Used a Predictable Trope To Address A Vitally Important Issue
Image
I called it.

As soon as I learned that Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 involved a woman and her boyfriend getting attacked at a remote campsite, I guessed that the boyfriend would be involved in the attack.

Its predictability wasn’t the point. The episode was a vehicle to discuss the epidemic of domestic violence against women, and it worked.

(NBC/Scott Gries) Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 Might Have Been Based On The Gabby Petito Murder

One of the reasons it was obvious that Chris attacked Ellie himself was the case’s similarity to the Gabby Petito murder.

The Petito murder was an infamous 2021 case in which a woman who traveled the country in a van with her fiance was murdered by him. The couple posted happy videos of the two of them together on social media during their trip, but in reality, he was abusing her.

Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 Spoilers: After A Brutal Attack, Can Benson Get Justice For A Victim On Life Support?
Image
Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 spoilers have Benson advocating for a victim on life support.

If this sounds familiar, it is. Law & Order Season 24 Episode 4 focused almost exclusively on whether a woman kept alive only by machines could be considered dead for legal purposes.

The story will be different, of course, and it’ll be interesting to find out how.

(NBC/Screenshot) Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 6 Spoilers Have Benson Again Working With The FBI’s Agent Clay

Benson is called in on this case when FBI Agent Clay needs help finding a perp who could be anywhere on the Eastern Seaboard.

In case you’ve forgotten who Clay is, he was the FBI agent that Benson initially contacted when she was looking for Maddie Flynn.

Hopefully, that doesn’t mean a resurgence of that awful, screen-eating storyline or of the equally annoying Agent Sykes, who stormed...

The Line Review: Alex Wolff leads a dark and disturbing drama about college fraternities
Image
Plot: Tom is a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background. He is charmed by the prestigious Kna fraternity’s promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors. But upon beginning a romance with Annabelle, a classmate outside of his social circle, and the manipulative schemes of his fraternity president unfolding during the hazing of new members, Tom finds himself ensnared in a perilous game of ambition and loyalty.

Review: Few cultures have proven as toxic as fraternities and sororities. Over the years, hazing has transformed from comedy fodder in films like Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds to the notorious stuff of headline news. Countless frats across the United States have been shuttered due to criminal activity that has resulted in jail time and even deaths. The Line is a story that is a damning indictment of frat life and the personalities...

Most Underrated Limited Series of All Time
Image
Within a single season, a limited series can tell a cohesive and riveting story that will leave viewers stunned. 2024 has been a stellar year for miniseries of different genres. For example, Netflix's Baby Reindeer became a global sensation, and FX's Shogun even secured a second season after starting as a limited series. They have joined other beloved miniseries in the past few years, like Dopesick and The Queen's Gambit, as some of the best of the 2020s thus far.

However, there have also been plenty of limited series over the years that have fallen under the radar due to competition, less word of mouth, and lower popularity. One strong example from 2024 is Hulu's Clipped, which chronicles one of the NBA's biggest scandals. The show is already tracking to become underappreciated among other recent miniseries. There are a good handful of limited series that deserve more recognition,...

‘The Line’ Review: Alex Wolff and Halle Bailey Star in a Compellingly Sinister Campus Thriller
Image
It’s hard not to think about Donna Tartt’s novel The Secret History while watching Ethan Berger’s feature debut, The Line. Richard Papen, the protagonist of Tartt’s crisp and propulsive novel, bears quite the resemblance to Tom (Alex Wolff), the main character of Berger’s compelling thriller. Like Richard, Tom is a scholarship student who finds himself cavorting with an elite segment of campus. The classic majors’ cabal, organized around the worship of a mysterious professor, is what pulled Richard in; Greek life, with its allure of fraternal fidelity and alumni access, is what bewitches Tom. Both characters are ashamed of their working-class roots and, in a futile attempt to fit in, mask and mock their pasts.

The Line follows Tom as he learns the same devastating lessons Richard did. Berger, who cowrote the screenplay with Alex Russek, telegraphs the tragedy early, which means we don’t...

Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Breakout Lewis Pullman on Secretly Skydiving to Prepare for the Flight Scenes
Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
If you’ve seen “Top Gun: Maverick”, then you undoubtedly fell in love with Bob.

Played by Lewis Pullman, from future cult classic “Bad Times at the El Royale” and Prime Video’s terrific series “Outer Range,” Bob is a weapon systems officer and recent graduate of the elite Top Gun Naval pilot training program. He’s quiet and unassuming with boxy 1970s glasses; a “dork” if you will. But he proves himself when he teams up with fellow pilot Phoenix (Monica Barbaro) for a top-secret mission. And who is their teacher for this highly specialized run? None other than Pete “Maverick” Mitchell himself, played once again, with mega-watt charisma, by Tom Cruise.

TheWrap spoke to Pullman about what it was like flying in these planes (including an unsanctioned skydiving trip he took to prepare), getting mentored by Tom Cruise and whether or not he’s finished his flight hours...

NCIS: Los Angeles (2009)
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 13 Episode 12 Review: Murmuration
NCIS: Los Angeles (2009)
An episode being thought-provoking is good.

Leaving the viewers scratching their heads isn't.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 13 Episode 12 fell more into the latter category, as the team was tossing around phrases such as "drone swarm" and "rogue AI."

That's not how to connect with those struggling with their remote controls.

Unlike, say, Deeks hoarding the toys of his youth. Now that was something to which the show's viewership could relate.

Artificial intelligence would be (and has been) the perfect topic for Black Mirror to tackle. NCIS: Los Angeles, not so much. Stay in your lane, people.

This was a Fatima spotlight episode, with Roundtree trying gamely to keep up with her.

And when she had looks of awe and horror on her face, the rest of the older members of the Osp and those watching were also expected to feel that way.

Apparently, the phrase "UFO" has become gauche.

John Cusack & Emile Hirsch in Hacker Action Thriller 'Pursuit' Trailer
Brian Skiba
"Keep me alive and I will give you names." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for an action film titled Pursuit, a new film from genre filmmaker Brian Skiba. Another of these forgettable direct-to-video looking action movies? Unfortunately. John Cusack and Emile Hirsch star in this action thriller about a troubled cop's hunt for a ruthless hacker, who’s committing savage violence as he searches for his kidnapped wife. But is Calloway's crime-boss father somehow involved in this explosive situation? Starring Jake Manley, Elizabeth Ludlow, William Katt, Andrew Stevens, and Graham Patrick Martin. This guy isn't the best director, he often makes action schlock, but these movies still do look fun in a beer & pizza movie night kind of way. I am also amazed they still totally overdo the hacker character in movies like this. Check it out. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Brian Skiba's Pursuit, direct from Lionsgate's...

Ann Willis Ratray Dies, Actor and Celebrated Child Drama Coach Was 81
Image
Ann Willis Ratray, broadway and screen actress and youth drama coach to many other stars, passed away on June 9th at her home in New York. She was aged 81. The actress was survived by husband Peter Ratray, her partner for almost 55 years, who was with her along with other family members when she died after a long illness.

When it was known that Ann Willis Ratray was not going to recover from her illness, her former students asked what they could do, as Covid restrictions meant that they were unable to visit. Her husband told them that they should write letters to her, which they did by the bucket load. Peter spent the last days of Ann's life reading the letters from those she had mentored, which thanked her for the inspiration she provided them as they progressed in their career.

Kiersey Clemons will star in 141 Entertainment’s “Susie Searches,” a darkly comic thriller from Sophie Kargman.

“Susie Searches” centers on Susie (Clemons), an awkward college student who seizes the opportunity to bolster her popularity and her under-the-radar true-crime podcast by solving the disappearance of a classmate. Great New Trailer Released For Hulu's WWII Series Catch-22 with George Clooney and Kyle Chandler
We’ve got a new trailer here for you to watch for Hulu’s upcoming six-episode limited World War II series Catch-22. The show is based on Joseph Heller’s acclaimed novel and it was directed by George Clooney, who also stars in this film.

I love the tone of this series as it has a very Coen Brothers type vibe to it with the writing and storytelling style. Clooney takes on the role of Scheisskopf and is joined by Kyle Chandler as Colonel Cathcart, Hugh Laurie as Major de Coverley, and Christopher Abbott as Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier who is angry not only at the enemy who continues trying to kill him, but also at his own army which regularly puts him in harm’s way.

Here’s a description of the story that the series will tell:

Catch-22 Full Trailer Reveals the Humorous Side to Blood and Guts War
Based on Joseph Heller’s seminal novel of the same name, Catch-22 is the story of the incomparable, artful dodger, Yossarian (Christopher Abbott).

Yossarian is a Us Air Force bombardier in World War II who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him.

But his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service.

According to the doctor that Yossarian (Christopher Abbott) is trying to get help from in the trailer above, it’s “the best catch there is.”

‘Catch-22’ Ep Compares “Absurdity” In Trump White House To Events In Hulu’s War Series – The Contenders Emmys
If you’ve followed the news at all today, you know Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen abruptly resigned amid tension in the Trump administration over its failure to stop Central American migrants from crossing the southern border.

President Donald Trump tweeted news of Nielsen’s departure at 6:02 p.m. Et. He wasted no time lining up an acting replacement and immediately announced on Twitter: “Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for Dhs. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!”

Catch-22 executive producer Grant Heslov compared the “absurdity” of what was happening in Washington to events in the Hulu limited series he co-produced with George Clooney.

“When George and I came aboard this, we sort of talked about the idea that there’s never really a bad time to talk about the absurdity of war,” Heslov said...

George Clooney directed the series, and as you’ll see in the trailer, the Coen brothers have rubbed off on him. He also stars in the series as Scheisskopf and will be joined by Kyle Chandler as Colonel Cathcart, Hugh Laurie as Major de Coverley, and Christopher Abbott as Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier who is angry not only at the enemy who continues trying to kill him, but also at his own army which regularly puts him in harm’s way.

George Clooney takes command in “Catch-22,” Hulu’s limited series adaptation of Joseph Heller’s acclaimed war satire. The streaming network announced a May 17 release date at the Television Critics Association press tour on Monday — prime Emmy position for the Oscar-winning pedigree behind the miniseries. Not only does the Clooney direct and executive produce the series — his first-ever for a streaming service — with partner Grant Heslov, but he also portrays the colorful role of Sheisskopf.

In the six-part series set during World War II, Christopher Abbott plays Us Air Force bombardier Yossarian, who just wants to stay alive and get back to civilian life, if only the ambitious Col. Cathcart (Kyle Chandler) will stop increasing the number of required combat missions.

The cast also includes Hugh Laurie as the mysterious Major de Coverley, Giancarlo Giannini as Marcello, Daniel David Stewart as mess officer Milo Minderbinder, Rafi Gavron Captain “Aarfy” Aardvark,...
