Kwame Patterson auditioned for two separate roles on Snowfall and didn’t get either.
Then a chance meeting with the FX drama’s showrunner, David Andron, led to a full-season offer to play Lurp, a Vietnam War vet and the lead character Franklin’s hired bodyguard in Season 4. There was just one problem: Production stopped midway through Episode 4 due to Covid, and when Hollywood finally reopened, the actor had another offer on the table — a starring role in OWN’s David Makes Man playing the adult version of the series’ titular character.

The post-9/11 war genre has a new defining entry, yet this robust little film – which cost a mere $5 million – won’t enjoy the exposure of The Hurt Locker. And that’s a pity, because The Outpost revitalizes the canon, landing as a blend of Jarhead and Hamburger Hill, John Irvin’s Vietnam film from 1987.

Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the upcoming comedy “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.”
Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, who received Oscar nominations for writing “Bridesmaids,” play best friends Barb and Star, who leave the Midwest to go on vacation to the beachside town of Vista Del Mar, Fla. They soon get mixed up in a wild adventure where they find themselves at the heart of a villain’s plot to kill everyone in the town.
The new trailer clearly spoofs the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things,” featuring neon text, bicycles and flickering lights. The tone quickly shifts to reveal the film’s eccentric and silly nature, which director Josh Greenbaum said was what drew him to helm the project.
“I wanted this movie to feel like a vacation for people visually,” Greenbaum previously told EW of the film. “I was listening to [the initial] pitch, and I was like,...

‘Barb & Star’ Trailer: Watch Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo Awkwardly Flirt With Jamie Dornan (Video)
In “Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo play best friends leaving their small pond in the Midwest for a vacation for the first time in their lives, and their first instinct as single women is to reel in a big fish, namely Jamie Dornan.
As you’ll see in the trailer, Dornan has a little trouble with his shirt, as he keeps sexily tearing it off. And wouldn’t you know it? Each of their hotel rooms are very closeby.
“611? Barb, oh my gosh, he’s 611,” Wiig and Mumolo say to Dornan after he orders a drink. “We’re in 124!”
The girls actually get up to a lot in the first full trailer for “Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar.” This trailer pokes fun at “Stranger Things” with some ’80s synth music and neon title cards, Wiig finds a “Shellphone” case...

‘Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’ Trailer: Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo’s ‘Bridesmaids’ Follow-Up
Lionsgate has released the full trailer for “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” a brand new comedy from “Bridesmaids” writing team Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, which stars the dynamic duo as a pair of best friends who leave their small Midwestern town for the first time to go on vacation in Vista Del Mar, Florida. Along the way, they become embroiled in a mad villain’s plot to murder everyone in town. The movie’s 2020 summer release was delayed due to restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic, but the comedy will be available on VOD platforms next month.

“Bridesmaids” stars and writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo have reunited for a new comedy called “Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” and their big ’80s haircuts and shrill Midwestern accents that sound like something out of “Fargo” seems like a character that Wiig has been waiting to dust off since her “SNL” days.
“Barb & Star” will skip theaters to debut as a premium video on demand rental on February 14. The new trailer doesn’t exactly give a hint at the story — in fact we never even get to see Barb and Star’s faces, but it’s about two best friends who leave their small Midwest town for the very first time for a tropical vacation. Along the way their friendship will deepen and they’ll even try and overcome a villainous plot.
Suffice it to say, Barb and Star are very excited about appearing in their own movie trailer.

Viacom-owned British broadcaster Channel 5 has picked up the UK rights to Sony Pictures Television’s Crackle drama The Oath.
The network will launch the 50 Cent-exec produced drama on its digital service My5 as part of a strategy of bolstering the VOD platform with first-run exclusives.
