Leo is a writer, producer and director based in Belfast. He started his career as an actor, with a leading role in Northern Ireland's first children's television series, Bel's Boys, for ITV in 2006. In 2015, he wrote and directed the feature film Braxton, released on DVD and VOD internationally in 2018 and described by film critic Dave Wain as "the best British horror film of the decade". Since 2015, he has produced multiple award-winning short films, including The Invention, Time and Again, Limbo, Bad Vibes and Ruthless, all of which screened at BAFTA and Oscar®-Qualifying Film Festivals including the Galway Film Fleadh, Cork International Film Festival and Aesthetica Short Film Festival. The Invention, which Leo wrote and directed, was screened as a Top 4 Finalist in the Oscar®-Qualifying Best Short Film category at the 2018 Indy Shorts International Film Festival in Indiana.
In 2024, he wrote the screenplays for the Canadian television films Killing for Extra Credit and Daddy's Deadly Secret, both of which were produced by Reel One Entertainment and aired on the A&E-owned Lifetime network in the USA. Since 2020, Leo has been based at Poli Productions, where he works as a development producer.
