London, July 26 (Ians) With questions surrounding Pat Cummins’ work load on being Australia’s fast-bowling spearhead and as well as the captain, former cricketer Damien Fleming has backed him to continue being the skipper of the team.
“There’s a finishing line, and only he’ll know, I want him to keep doing it (captaining). I don’t know who it goes to, Steve Smith is already questioning how long he’ll play for, Travis Head could be a possible option as he has captained South Australia since a young age.”
I think 3-4 years is ideal for an Australian captain and in an ideal world, Cummins does it for a couple of years and looks to retain the Test championship,” said Fleming on Sen Radio.
Fleming believes Cummins needs more help from Steve Smith in the field as a captain when Australia is bowling.

London, July 11 (Ians) Former Australia cricketer Ian Healy reckoned that David Warner was not good enough in the third Test at Headingley but he still wants the 36-year-old veteran to open alongside Usman Khawaja in the fourth Test in Manchester, starting from July 19.
Warner was dismissed for just 4 in the first innings and 1 in the second innings, caught by Zak Crawley in the slips off the bowling of his arch nemesis Stuart Broad on both occasions as Australia lost the Headingley Test to England.
“What he put out at Headingley wasn’t good enough. His technique recently had been much better, head over the ball, but it all disappeared at Headingley,” Healy said on Senq Breakfast.
“He was jumping around, he was unstable at the crease and he was distracted by the crowd. It wasn’t good enough and we need better because he’s putting Marnus (Labuschagne) and Steve Smith...

London, June 8 (Ians) In the run-up to the World Test Championship Final between India and Australia at The Oval, there was a huge debate over whether ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will make it to the playing eleven or not.
With 474 wickets in 92 matches at a strike-rate of 51.8, including 32 five-wicket/innings hauls, keeping Ashwin, the top-ranked Test bowler, out of the marquee clash as India preferred four fast-bowlers has invited criticism from former cricketers of both nations.
The Oval pitch, which looked green, assisted the seamers for the first hour or so under overcast conditions. But as the sun came out and clouds began to move away, it turned good for batting.
Travis Head (146 not out) and Steve Smith (95 not out) feasted on a lacklustre Indian bowling line-up to stitch a mammoth 251-run unbeaten stand for the fourth wicket as Australia reached 327/3 at the stumps on Day 1.

New Delhi, April 22 (Ians) Accumulating a record 100 centuries across formats, Sachin Tendulkar is widely revered as the ‘God of Cricket’ and has earned the affection of an entire nation.
With a remarkable total of 34,357 runs scored across multiple formats, Sachin could make a strong case for immortality based on his achievements in the sport.
In 2011, Tendulkar finally won his first World Cup. At 37, his appetite for runs remained undiminished, as he ended up as India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament with 482 runs.
Sachin retired from ODIs in 2012, having scored his 100th hundred in his penultimate match. His final Test came against the West Indies in November 2013, his 200th game in the format!
In an international career spanning 24 years, Sachin broke pretty much every major batting record. Ahead of his 50th birthday (April 24), Ians lists five of Sachin’s memorable innings across formats.

Perth, Dec 4 (Ians) Former Australian quick Damien Fleming has rated Test skipper and pace spearhead Pat Cummins among the top-three he has seen emerging from his country. The 29-year-old Cummins grabbed his 200th wicket on Friday in his 44th Test when he ripped West Indies batter Kraigg Brathwaite’s off stump.
Cummins thus became the second-fastest Australian to the milestone behind the legendary Dennis Lillee, who achieved the feat in 38 Tests. Cummins’s average after the West Indies’ first innings in the inaugural Test at Perth of 21.50 is the best by any Australian bowler to have taken 200 or more scalps.
However, Cummins has been laid low by right quadricep soreness in the second innings, which has forced the team management to hand over the captaincy reins to Steve Smith. Cummins had figures of 3/34 in 20.2 overs in the first innings.
The other two quicks in the side, Josh Hazlewood and Mitch Starc,...
