Newcastle United are stepping up their search for defensive reinforcements and have pinpointed Marseille centre-back Nicolas N’Koulou as one of their top summer transfer targets.
As WhatCultureNUFC writer @ChrisDHWaugh predicted on Tuesday in his list of 10 potential centre-backs Newcastle must try to sign this summer, the Magpies are now looking to snap up N’Koulou – according to the Daily Mail.
Everton have also shown firm interest in the 25-year-old Cameroonian, with Napoli and Arsenal also reported to be among those monitoring the centre-back’s situation in France.

Interestingly, Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Marseille forward Florian Thauvin – so a double swoop could be in the offing this summer.
N’Koulou is not the biggest at 5ft 11ins but he is great on the floor and he loves to play out from the back. It would provide a shift away...

Andrew Ayew has publicly responded to reports linking him to Newcastle United – by revealing it is his “dream” to one day play in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old Marseille forward has netted eight times in 23 appearances for Marseille this season and he has admitted that he is looking to leave the Stade Velodrome.
Ayew is a free agent this summer as his contract will be up and a whole host of Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign him.
The 62-cap Ghana international, who scored twice for his nation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been linked with the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, and it appears certain he will be in the Premier League soon.

Revealing that his previous “dream” had been to play for Marseille, Ayew explained that he now longs to play in the English league.

Newcastle United continue to search for a new head coach in spite of their fight against relegation – and Saint Etienne boss Christophe Galtier has returned to the top of their wanted list.
The Magpies spoke with Galtier in January after tracking the 49-year-old for some time – and now reports in France claim they are in “discussions” with the Ligue 1 head coach.
French paper Mercato claims the Magpies have contacted Galtier and that they have lined him up as the man to take over on Tyneside should they remain in the Premier League.
Laurent Cipriani/AP
A French League Cup winner in 2013, Galtier has worked wonders on a modest budget at St Etienne and he led the club to fourth in Ligue 1 last season. This has not gone unnoticed with the powers that be at Newcastle, with managing director Lee Charnley and head scout Graham Carr both believed to be keen admirers.

Robert Connolly.s Arenamedia has donated a Led projector to an innovative charitable project in South Sudan which will be used to screen educational and entertainment content and information to a remote community in the war-torn country.
The writer-director.s 3D children.s film Paper Planes will be among the first titles shown at the mini-cinema.
Documentary filmmaker Samuel Richards aims to raise $12,500 via crowd-funding site Chuffed.org for the Portal Project. This initiative will entail taking the Led projector/media player, fabric video screen, sound system and solar-powered generator to the Turalei children's shelter in South Sudan.

With the tingle of winter suddenly appearing in the air and the clocks going back to herald the return of dark nights and the strait of the best bit of the football season, it is inevitable that more and more column inches will be dedicated to who Newcastle will and will not be signing in the winter transfer window.
The club apparently missed out on two targets this summer, according to their own Fan Forum minutes, and there’s a good chance those key areas – up front and at centre-half – will be most hotly pursued in the window (if not before). Clearly with the side sitting in 18th, something has to change – not least in order to convince players to actually sign for the club – and the rumour makers have already started linking players.
So with that in mind, we’re looking at the biggest, or at least the most eye-catching,...

West Ham United have signed AC Milan’s combative midfielder Antonio Nocerino on loan for the rest of the season.
The 28-year-old has 15 caps for Italy and once drew comparisons to Rossoneri great Gennaro Gattuso, but has been in and out of the side under Max Allegri and successor Clarence Seedorf this term.
Nocerino’s arrival at the Hammers comes after Milan agreed to sign Michael Essien from Chelsea. This move thus left Nocerino surplus to requirements at the San Siro.
Fans of English football may remember Nocerino from Euro 2012. He converted one of the penalties in Italy’s shootout quarter-final win over the Three Lions. Nocerino also counts Juventus and Palermo as former clubs.
In other West Ham news, the East London outfit have had a reported £3.5 million bid for Championship top scorer and Leeds United captain Ross McCormack rejected.

Now, you might remember these from the previous review I did of the lead single off this album, though of course you might not, you might not have even read said review. Either way, here we are, again or for the first time, it’s Billy Vincent. This time, it’s personal. This time, it’s full length.
For those unfamiliar, and those despicable sorts who didn’t read that previous review, then here’s a bit of back story for you, just in case you haven’t been arsed to click that link and follow through. Billy Vincent mostly stem from the basis of their two frontmen, one named Billy Barratt and the other David Vincent, but beyond that they’re more than a duo, they’re a group; a group with a keen ear for some emotionally impactive and almost pop-like folk music.

Billy Barratt and David Vincent co-front a band. That band is called Billy Vincent. Their debut album She is set for release in April. What we have here is the debut single from that album which goes by the name of Bottle Top, and it’s backed by b side track The Raleigh Burner Song.
So, they’re not great with naming things, but that’s ok. Where they appear to be putting all that excess effort, that would otherwise go into naming things, is into crafting quietly poignant folk songs.
The first of the pair is just that; a delicate love song backed by modern folk accompaniment, that rises and falls as it swells all the way through. It’s a subtle and emotional grower, though the chorus is instantly infectious.
