Caren Bohrman(1955-2012)
Caren Alison Bohrman was born in Hollywood, California. She was President of her class at Walter Reed Jr. High and graduated with honors from North Hollywood High. She studied Film at UC Santa Cruz, and Film and Film Criticism at Sonoma State. Alfred Hitchcock was a favorite subject.
Caren began her career as a literary agent in the late 1970's as a receptionist at the Shapiro-Lichtman Talent Agency and quickly became an Agent there. She was Head of the Literary Department at David Shapira; Head of the Literary Department at The Gage Group; and then moved on to VP of the Literary Department at Harry Abrams & Associates.
In 1994 Caren launched her own agency, The Bohrman Agency, with co-founder Michael Hruska. Caren Bohrman and The Bohrman Agency represented and brokered deals for writers, directors, and/or producers of feature and television films. The Bohrman Agency also represented published novelists, poets, playwrights and non-fiction authors.
Her parents are Delle Coleman-Bohrman, film/television writer and now playwright, and the late Stan Bohrman, a nationally known TV and Radio news personality.
Ms. Bohrman died in November 2012 after a two year battle with ampullary cancer. She had also suffered a bout with breast cancer in 1999. Through both, she valiantly continued to run her agency until just a few months before her death.
