On the heels of its $2.4 billion acquisition of Img, Wme has hired former Microsoft CFO Peter Klein as its new finance chief, the agency said Monday. The appointment is effective immediately and when the Wme merger with Img is completed, Klein will be the CFO of the combined entity as well. Klein was with Microsoft for 11 years, becoming CFO in 2009. He announced in April he was leaving the software giant. At that time, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer praised him for his ability to control costs and for his involvement in the acquisition of Skype, which Microsoft

Here’s a new look at the forthcoming film from Robert Lorenz, Trouble with the Curve, which stars Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake.
Leading the film as Gus Lobel, a baseball scout in the twilight years of his career, Eastwood makes a rare appearance in a film he’s not directing and in this short clip from the film we see him with John Goodman as Pete Klein, an old friend and colleague concerned about Lobel’s thoughts on retiring.
Goodman can currently be seen supporting Ben Affleck’s excellent Argo, pumping full blooded cynicism and Hollywood grandeur but here he’s far more subdued. Eastwood is always worth watching on screen and Lorenz has got a great cast to support him here.
Here’s your clip, you’ll have your chance to see how you deal with Trouble with the Curve when it enters UK cinemas on the 30th of November.

As one of the season’s more anticipated releases, Trouble with the Curve, has dealt with the Scylla and Charybdis of overexposure and elevated expectations. Add to the imbroglio lead actor Clint Eastwood’s divisive bit of unintended performance art at the Republican National Convention and you have a film that critics and audiences will come to theatre prepared to either love or hate. As a writer it’s incumbent upon us to try and shelve our own biases and rate movies on their own merits.
Curve features Eastwood as flinty old curmudgeon Gus Loebel, typical of late-Eastwood stock, employed as a scout for the Atlanta Braves who is sent to Charlotte in order to scout the franchise’s potential number one pick, a young slugger capturing the attention of scouts nationwide. Chicago – Clint Eastwood keeps going and going. His reputation as an actor is secure in a long career, and his power as a director is Oscar worthy. His ability to recognize a limp script? Not so much, if “Trouble with the Curve” is a gauge. Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake are along for the pitch.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
There is nothing new in this baseball-as-a-metaphor-for-life theme, which had the door closed on it in last year’s superior “Moneyball.” This film mines the same territory, this time the player development is with the Atlanta Braves. Eastwood is a scout rather than a baseball executive, and he has an old school attitude towards the game. He would have been one of the gray beards at the conference table in “Moneyball,” as the modern game passes him by. “Trouble with the Curve” belongs in the studio era of the 1940s, with its simple relationships,...

Clint Eastwood hikes up his pants yet again to play an aging curmudgeon who's every bit as "Get off my lawn" as Gran Torino's Walt Kowalski, but instead of racism he's battling his deteriorating eye sight and his poor parenting skills. As Gus, a scout for the Atlanta Braves, Trouble with the Curve finds Eastwood grumbling his way through a film where he has no time for the "Interweb" or his daughter for that matter. His job is on the line as something called computers (heard of these?) are making scouting baseball talent easier than ever before. Yes, it's old school vs. new school. It's a schlocky anti-Moneyball that turns into a father-daughter story on its way to an overwrought ending. In short, it's insufferable. Trouble with the Curve features the most impressive cast ever assembled for what is essentially a Lifetime movie. Eastwood is joined by Amy Adams,...

Here's out first look at Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams in first time director Robert Lorenz's film Trouble With the Curve. Eastwood is strictly acting in this movie, and it's the first movie in almost 20 years where he acted under the direction of another director.
The story follows an aging baseball scout with vision problems named Gus. His daughter Mickey (Adams), reluctantly agrees to be his eyes on a crucial recruiting trip. Lorenz had this to say abut the story,
He gets his chance to prove whether he still has value as a scout—and as a dad. They’re having trouble communicating. They always have, and now they’ve come to a point in the relationship where it’s either going to change or it’s not. He needs a little help, and she decides it’s worth the effort.

One film I felt could have very easily ended up on the slate of titles at the Toronto Film Festival was Robert Lorenz's directorial debut Trouble with the Curve featuring Clint Eastwood as Gus, an aging Atlanta Braves scout with vision problems whose daughter, Mickey (Amy Adams), reluctantly agrees to be his eyes on a crucial recruiting trip. Above is the first picture released from the film, which is set to hit theaters on September 28. The film co-stars Matthew Lillard, John Goodman, Scott Eastwood and Justin Timberlake who plays Johnny, a rival young scout who happens to like and respect Gus. Lorenz is Eastwood's longtime Malpaso producing partner and he was somehow able to get him in front of the camera without being behind the camera as well for the first time in almost 20 years, the last time being 1993's In the Line of Fire for Wolfgang Petersen. Clint Eastwood...

Clint Eastwood is never out until he says he’s out.
Following 1992′s Unforgiven, the actor and filmmaker ended his storied Western career, and that was years after closing the book on Dirty Harry.
When he made 2008′s Gran Torino, and hinted he might be done acting altogether, and seeing as he was 78 years old then, it seemed very likely. He’d already quit performing for every filmmaker except for one — himself.
But when his longtime cinematic sidekick Robert Lorenz took the helm of the family baseball drama Trouble With the Curve (in theaters Sept. 28), the iconic actor was persuaded...

Natalie Portman Returns To Acting In Two Terrence Malick Films
It sounds like the post-baby acting hiatus is over for Natalie Portman! Deadline is reporting that the "Black Swan" star is filming two of Terrence Malick's films -- "Knight of Cups" and "Lawless" -- back to back. No word yet on how "Thor 2" fits into that picture, but "Knight of Cups" starts filming in the summer and "Lawless" will lense in the fall.

John Goodman is one of the most versatile actors in the industry, having started out on a very humble sitcom and taking off by starring a wide array of movies. Now the actor joins the growing cast of Trouble with the Curve. The movie already has Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, and Matthew Lillard in the cast. Trouble with the Curve will follow the story of an aging baseball scout (to be played by Clint Eastwood) suffering from vision problems, who embarks on a road trip with her daughter (Amy Adams), to scout a potential prospect. Timberlake will play as a scout for the New York Yankees.
As for Goodman, he will play Pete Klein, an old-school scout and longtime friend of Eastwood’s character who still believes in the man’s ability to spot talent. We still don’t have a confirmation on who Matthew Lillard will play in the movie,...

Right now Joel and Ethan Coen have Justin Timberlake and John Goodman lined up for the 60's folk music centric film Inside Llewyn Davis, but the actors from two different generations will be together on another film as well. Variety has word that Goodman has just joined the cast of Trouble with the Curve, the baseball drama starring Clint Eastwood as a baseball scout with vision problems who takes a road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to take a look at a hot prospect. Amy Adams has already signed to play Eastwood's daughter and Timberlake is playing a former pitcher who now works as a scout for the New York Yankees. Meanwhile, Goodman is playing Pete Klein, an old-school scout and longtime friend of Eastwood's character who still believes in the man's ability to spot talent. This won't be Goodman's first brush with baseball on the big screen as...

John Goodman and Justin Timberlake may soon become the closest of friends. In addition to the fact that both are starring in the upcoming Coen brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis, now it's been confirmed that they will be teaming up on the baseball drama Trouble With The Curve. Timberlake's casting was announced last week and now, according to Variety, Goodman has signed on as well. The film tells the story of an aging baseball scout, played by Clint Eastwood, who is getting ready to retire due to his failing eyesight. As one final job, he decides to go on a road trip to Atlanta to check out a hot new prospect, bringing his daughter (Amy Adams) along for the ride. Goodman will play a character named Pete Klein, who is another baseball scout and a believer that Eastwood's character isn't ready to retire just yet. The project is being directed...

Have you been following the development of this baseball drama Trouble With the Curve? It started out as just a glimmer, a hope. It was maybe the project that would bring Clint Eastwood out of acting retirement. A story about an aging baseball scout who is losing his vision and who is embarking on one last recruitment trip in the company of his adult daughter sounded perfect for an old grizzly bear like Eastwood, and since those first days of maybes the project has developed quite nicely. First it became official, and got a release date of September 28, 2012. Then it started filling out its supporting cast with exciting names. Amy Adams came on to play the role of Eastwood’s daughter, and Justin Timberlake got picked up to play her love interest. This thing was looking like an all-star lineup already. But with news that they’re bringing one of the most underutilized players in Hollywood on...

Between Community, The Artist, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, and this year’s Inside Llewyn Davis, I’m getting a real “John Goodman renaissance” vibe over here. That vibe feels good.
To continue this, Variety informs us that Walter has been added to the cast of Trouble With the Curve, the Clint Eastwood-led baseball drama, which also features Amy Adams, Llewyn Davis‘ Justin Timberlake, Matthew Lillard, and Joe Massingill.
Directed by Robert Lorenz and written by Randy Brown, the baseball picture centers on an old, blinding scout (Eastwood) who, with his daughter (Adams), heads to Atlanta to check out an up-and-comer. Goodman factors into all of this by playing “Pete Klein, an old-school scout and longtime friend of Eastwood’s character who still believes in the man’s ability to spot talent.”
Whatever the extent of this role may be, you can bet that I’m happy to hear Goodman...
