Turns out Mark Manson, whose self-help bestseller “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” was adapted into a documentary by Universal Pictures, actually does give a f–k about what people think.
“Seeing myself on screen really dredged up a lot,” Manson told TheWrap. “”It’s funny when you write a book, you get insecure but you get insecure about ideas. When I put out a book, I’m more worried about ‘Does this story make sense? Is my logic solid? Am I referencing the right study?’ Those are the things that I get anxious about.”
“With the film, it’s so much more of an instinctual ‘Oh my God, I hope people like me’ type of insecurity, which I have not felt to this extent since I was like a teenager probably. It’s been interesting to have to confront that again, but I mean, I’ll be fine,...

In the five years since author Mark Manson published “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck,” the self-help book has sold more than 15 million copies, spent 279 weeks on the NY Times Bestsellers list and crossed over in the pop culture sphere.
“It’s honestly just a pleasant surprise,” Manson tells Variety over Zoom in late December, reflecting on the success of the book, which pairs historical anecdotes with his personal tales of teenage apathy and mid-twenties mistakes to illustrate the best way to live a contented life.
“I’ve been hearing prominent people from all over the world — like Aaron Rodgers said it was his favorite book of the offseason and helped him like get prepared after a playoff loss — it’s just crazy stuff,” Manson continues. “It’s just a real pleasure and a joy as an author to see those sorts of things. And it makes my day when it happens.

Title: Abduction Director: John Singleton (‘Boyz n the Hood,’ ’2 Fast 2 Furious’) Starring: Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins (‘The Blind Side,’ ‘Priest’) and Maria Bello The most effective, thought-provoking and memorable action thrillers don’t solely include high adrenaline stunts, they also include an intriguing story filled with surprising twists and well developed characters. Unfortunately, famed action director John Singleton failed to recapture his former glory with his new film ‘Abduction.’ The movie chooses to instead capitalize on cliched stunts, predictable plot points and one-dimensional characters to appeal to its intended audience. ‘Abduction’ follows teenager Nathan Price (played by Taylor Lautner), who’s dealing with feelings of rage and anger, and thoughts...

This weekend Taylor Lautner—best known as the shirt-challenged werewolf from The Twilight Saga—will attempt to convince the world he is more than a set of sick abs in Abduction. Lautner plays Nathan Price, a teen who goes on the run when he discovers a picture of himself as a little boy on a missing persons website and he realizes that the people that he calls his parents must have abducted him. Hollywood has had a long love affair with kidnapping stories, and we're not even talking about the alien abduction ones, which we'll examine some other weekend. No, we're talking about old-fashioned human-takes-human pictures in which someone is snatched for usually dubious reasons. Most of them are available on disc, like 1965's The Collector in which Terence...

Can Taylor Lautner bust out of the Twilight ‘Team Jacob’ quicksand and become an actual star? Lionsgate’s president of motion pictures seems to think so, and he already has plans for the up-and-coming action hero, with the first step being the new action thriller, Abduction.
Taylor Lautner is a textbook example that shows the sometimes bumpy road that an actor must travel on the way to becoming a star. From providing his voice for various animated shows (What’s New, Scooby-Doo?, Duck Dodgers) to starring in the kid-friendly Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D, and then shooting into the spotlight in a major way as Jacob Black in the Twilight Saga franchise, Lautner is a long way from being an overnight success. However, his time to truly shine might have finally arrived in the form of his new film, Abduction.

Taylor Lautner recently had to get through an awkward interview during an appearance on "Despierta America". The Jacob Black of the "Twilight Saga" film franchise visited the Spanish-language TV show to promote his latest action movie "Abduction", but was left confused by the questions thrown at him because he lost communication with his translator.
In the beginning of the chat, one of the interviewers started to ask Taylor a question in Spanish. Instead of answering the inquiry, the 19-year-old actor just looked at her with a blank stare. When she realized that he didn't understand, the interviewer tried to ask him again in English but still mixed it up with Spanish.
Despite the awkwardness, Taylor managed to keep his cool while trying to answer the questions one by one. The Michigan-born actor explained how he prepared himself to play Nathan Price in the action movie. He also dodged questions about...

People were already drawing comparisons between Taylor Lautner's "Abduction" and Matt Damon's Jason Bourne series well before the "Twilight" star debuted his latest film's first full trailer last night, but now, there's simply no denying the shared traits between the two movies -- not even Taylor would fight the comparisons.
"It definitely has a lot of similarities to 'Bourne,'" he confessed during last night's MTV First: Taylor Lautner event, where the young actor debuted the "Abduction" trailer. "I would say Nathan Price's journey takes place before Jason Bourne's started. When Jason realized, when he was searching for his true identity, he was already a trained expert. Now Nathan, [he's just discovering his abilities]."
If Taylor's already entertaining the comparisons, then it's only fair to ask: who would win in a fight between Nathan and Jason?
"I think Nathan would need a little more training," Taylor answered with a laugh. "Give him...

An explosive new trailer has been released for Lionsgate's latest action thriller, Abduction. The film stars Taylor Lautner in his first big action role following the fame brought on by the likes of "Twilight" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse". Lautner stars as Nathan Price, a teenage who finds out that the reason he's always felt different, is because he is. His parents are not who he thinks they are, and what begins as a chance discovery, turns into a high-stakes adventure.
The trailer itself (below as always) demonstrates some really choice action sequences involving Lautner and co-star Lily Collins ("The Blind Side"). Also starring in the John Singleton-directed picture are Alfred Molina, Maria Bello, Michael Nyqvist and Sigourney Weaver. Can't wait to see more!
What would you do if you found your own picture on a missing persons website? Teen Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) finds himself facing this very dilemma.

Taylor Lautner, Hollywood's hottest werewolf Jacob Black of the "Twilight Saga," takes on his first leading man guy action roll in the big screen thriller, "Abduction."
MTV News, who unveiled the exclusive first look, had been counting down to the sneak preview all this week with a series of interviews where T-Laut reveals many little-known facts. Among Lautner's revelations was his affinity for Britney Spears' latest CD "Femme Fatale," as well as his desire to sing the pop star's "Oops! ... I Did It Again" on "Glee" if ever given the guest-star opportunity. (T-Laut you have real good taste)!
The trailer opens with a Lautner voice-over: "Sometimes I feel different." And different this role certainly is from what Lautner's uber-obsessive fans are used to seeing the actor play on TV and in movies. But from the looks of the film's preview, Lautner die-hards won't be disappointed.

The first trailer for Abduction, starring The Twilight Saga's Taylor Lautner, has landed online. The thriller marks the actor's first major attempt at leading a post-Twilight hit, and it also stars Lily Collins, who recently bagged the lead role in Tarsem Singh's Snow White. Lautner plays Nathan Price, a teen who goes on a Bourne-lite run after discovering that his parents may not be who they say they are. John Singleton directs the film, which has a surprisingly high-calibre support cast including Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver and Jason...

That sound you just heard was the whole of the Team Jacob nation crying out “Eeeeeeeee!” at once and then being suddenly silenced. No, the forces behind Robert Pattinson’s fandom haven’t developed a super weapon; the Taylor Lautner lovers have simply just stopped so they can recharge their lungs. And the reason for their vocal outpouring? The first trailer for Lautner’s first proper post-Twilight film Abduction has arrived and can be viewed below.Directed by John Singleton, Abduction finds the former wolf boy as Nathan Price, a teenager who has always felt slightly different from those around him, just like 83% of all teenagers. But Nathan has a real reason for his mixed feelings: he’s shown a picture of himself as a child on a missing persons website and soon discovers that his parents are not who he thinks they are, and that very powerful CIA forces...

Barbara Kingsolver is easily one of my favourite authors, and I think this book is the best of those of hers I have read. You can see the amount of time and research that went into writing this, and the love she has for her characters. They are all so well defined, each with their own recognisable voice. Even if the chapters weren't headed by name, it would be easy to tell who was speaking.
The Poisonwood Bible tells the story of the Price family who, led by the father Nathan Price, a Baptist preacher, go to the Belgian Congo in 1959 to work as missionaries. The story is told by his wife Orelanna, whose recollections begin most of the sections, before his four daughters tell their version of events. Rachel is the oldest, with long white hair and a princess attitude. She is spoiled and selfish and very unaware of...
