Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma) said that Oklahomans “would be pretty upset” if he had not stood up to Teamsters leader Sean O’Brien during a Senate hearing on Tuesday.
Mullin and O’Brien went back and forth at each other amid a conversation about labor unions and even threatened a fight, with Mullin standing up from his chair before Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) stopped him.
Mullin defended his actions during an interview with Sean Hannity later that day.
“He called you out,” Hannity said to Mullin. “You called him out for calling you out. And that’s kind of old school, the way it used to be.”
When asked if his conduct aligned with what is expected of a U.S. senator, Mullin responded that he is “a guy from Oklahoma first.”

During a Sunday appearance on Fox News, Sen. Ron Johnson alleged that ocean “windmills… are killing the whales,” but this is nothing more than misinformation that expert scientists and the government have repeatedly rebuked.
While discussing climate change on Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures, Johnson said, “All this climate alarmism is based on bad science… Again, the climate has always changed, always will. I’m not an alarmist, and I’m not in denial. These windmills, according to an earlier report on your network, are killing the whales.”

Max Meyers has at least one firm rule about his new CNBC program, and it might surprise some of the business-news outlet’s die-hards. “I told everyone, ‘No earnings,’” says Meyers, a veteran producer at the NBCUniversal-backed cable network. “I don’t want to hear that.”
No net income on CNBC? Such a dictate would be anathema on “Squawk Box,” the morning-news program that Meyers previously ran, but it might just stick on “Last Call,” a new 7 p.m. effort from CNBC executives that aims to keep business-news aficionados hanging out with the network until later in the evening. Over the past week, anchor Brian Sullivan, who is moving from a 5 a.m. roost on “Worldwide Exchange” to anchor the new evening show, has held forth on everything from Tesla to Salesforce during rehearsals, ready to give late-breaking news to CNBC’s market faithful.

CNBC is making a new bid to stay open after the stock market is closed.
Brian Sullivan. anchor of the early-morning “Worldwide Exchange,” gets to trade in an early wake-up for a late-evening perch at “Last Call,” CNBC’s newest attempt to extend its business journalism into the early evening. Sullivan’s show will replace “The News,” a vehicle for former Fox News anchor Shepard Smith that was cancelled last year.
“‘Last Call’ is a fast-paced, entertaining business show that explores the intersection of money, culture and policy. Through panels, debates and newsmakers,” said CNBC President Kc Sullivan in a memo to staff. “‘Last Call’ will not only deliver fresh takes on the biggest business topics of the day, but also shine a light on the other important stories that our viewers may have missed, all with an eye on what’s going to matter to the markets the next day.

In a bright, wide-open studio at Fox News’ Manhattan headquarters, where cable-news programs often stick to tried-and-true formats, Dagen McDowell and Sean Duffy are trying something a little unexpected: an experiment.
Larry Kudlow just wrapped his after-market Fox Business program, and the duo are taking advantage of the empty facility to rehearse banter for their new show, “Bottom Line,” slated to debut Monday evening at 6 p.m. Sure, they strike familiar chords, with a segment that examines how President Joe Biden’s White House has grappled with continued revelations of classified documents being found in his offices that eventually segues into a discussion of his son, Hunter Biden. But McDowell, a longtime correspondent, and Duffy, the former Republican Congressman from Wisconsin. are also trying to create new music.

Anti-choice conservatives are scrambling to place a positive spin on the failure of a Kansas ballot initiative on Tuesday that would have amended the state constitution to allow greater restrictions on abortion care. The red-state referendum going down in a landslide is the latest indication of the unpopularity the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. The round-table show “The Five” has proven to be one of Fox News Channel’s most durable properties. And yet, after a decade on air, the late-afternoon program can still surprise even the most veteran executive at the Fox Corp. cable-news outlet.
“The Five,” which these days relies largely on a trio of regulars and two rotating guests, outmaneuvered primetime colleagues like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity to become the most-watched show on the network — and cable news — in October, according to data from Nielsen. “The Five,” led by Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters, captured an average of nearly 3.11 million viewers during the month, compared to around 3.08 million for “Tucker Carlson Tonight” at 8 p.m. and nearly 2.74 million for “Hannity” at 9 p.m.
Carlson’s program continues to lead the network and the overall cable-news sector among viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, the demographic most coveted by advertisers in news programming.

Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is requesting that the first presidential debate between the president and Joe Biden be held in early September, while it has provided organizers with a list of recommended moderators.
The list, below, is heavy in Fox News personalities, yet does not include Chris Wallace. He moderated a debate in the 2016 cycle, but recently interviewed Trump for Fox News Sunday in a widely praised hour-long exchange in which he, at multiple points, fact-checked the president’s assertions.
Trump’s campaign argues that the first debate, now scheduled for Sept. 29, will take place after early voting has begun in 16 states. Two other presidential debates are scheduled for Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. The Trump campaign also continued its call for debate planners to a fourth debate to the schedule in early September, but said that if that does not happen, the Oct. 22 event should be moved to that date.

Tuesday marked the 25th anniversary of Maria Bartiromo becoming the first reporter to broadcast from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and Fox News and Fox Business Network carried her virtual NYSE bell-ringing in simulcast.
She explained, at the time, there were “a handful of people who didn’t want me there, but the truth is, is the majority of people were so supportive and so wonderful to me.”
Bartiromo, who worked for CNBC at the time, explained to her Fox News colleagues that there is “so much camaraderie on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange” — which made it hard for her to break in. They became “like family,” in the end, she told Sandra Smith.

Fox Business Network’s Dagen McDowell argued with President Donald Trump’s campaign spokesperson Hogan Gidley Wednesday, disagreeing with the way the president and Gidley disparage political polling.
“Hogan, why is President Trump trailing Joe Biden, who has barely been out on the campaign trail and his only presence is really out of his house? He’s trailing in national polls. He’s trailing in all the swing state polls and Valerie Jarrett pivots to the here and now because the number-one issue for Americans is the coronavirus. It’s not the economy. It’s not even race relations and according to the latest Fox News poll, President Trump trails Joe Biden on doing a better job on coronavirus by 17 points. Why isn’t the president’s message resonating then?” she asked.
Gidley responded by calling the polls “junk.”

“Fox & Friends” swung into action Friday after Oprah Winfrey’s strong embrace of Georgia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams, with one guest warning viewers that the daytime queen was being used to as a left-wing prop to promote Socialism.
“I don’t think that her platform will help,” said Gop strategist Jenna Ellis. “Oprah really represents the far left’s socialist agenda and that’s not going to resonate in the mid-terms with the American family that cares about money in their pockets, cares about the economy, cares about the things that President Trump has done in terms of putting America first.”
Ellis said that Georgia voters would be much more inclined to embrace hard right religious figures James Dobson and Franklin Graham who would promote traditional “family values.”

New York -- Fox Business Network announced Tuesday that Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walter Mossberg would appear weekly on the channel.
Mossberg's technology segment, that will not be branded as the Wall Street Journal, will appear Thursday mornings on the hour co-anchored by Dagen McDowell and Brian Sullivan. This is one of several appearances by Wall Street Journal staff on Fox Business Network, which had been thought to be prevented in the beginning from having regular appearances by Journal staffers due to an agreement between archrival Cnbc and Dow Jones before the latter was acquired by News Corp.
While that's still in effect, there have been multiple reports that News Corp. executives have said that the agreement doesn't preclude everything. That was confirmed Tuesday by a Fox Business Network executive.
"The Cnbc agreement covers only branded business news segments. Breaking news, non-business news and things like the personal technology reviews that Walt does are not covered by it," Fox News executive vp Kevin Magee said Tuesday.
Also appearing on Fbn have been Monica Langley, Wall Street Journal deputy Washington bureau chief; Teri Ains, senior fashion writer; Washington regular senior editor Joseph White; Gerald Seib, executive Washington editor; and Greg Ip, Robert Frank and John Bussey.
