Tracey Bonner is an American actor most known for Raising Dion, Sweet Magnolias, and Black Lightning. Born, in Decatur, GA, the only biological child of two educators, Tracey grew up in Murfreesboro, TN. She was very rooted in sports and academia. She found her love of Shakespeare in high school and was cast in a theatre tour, realizing that acting could become a profession. This discovery led her to extensive training and many theatre performances throughout the U.S., all while playing sports as well. A varsity basketball and softball player, she was able to receive a full ride to Tennessee State University, where she became an athletic/academic All-American softball player. Tracey majored in Speech Communication and Theatre with an English minor and later obtained an MFA in Acting from the Theatre School at DePaul University. She taught for 15 years before deciding to become an actor full-time.
When not performing, Tracey enjoys helping others. Her non-profit, DateYourselfGirl, Inc., which empowers women to become the love they seek through healing conversations and philanthropy. Through its annual Diaper Drive for homeless mothers and their babies, the organization gives deserving mothers relief in the area of diapers, pull-up, and wipes. Tracey also owns "Get Booked Taping Service," where she assists other actors with auditions and teaches her "Master the Art of Self Tape" workshop for universities and theatre companies. Through her work and outreach, Tracey hopes to inspire other actors to continue finding their purpose in their craft and outside of it. She believes that by tapping into all of their God given talents, actors' gifts are tools that can be used for good and to touch many lives.
