Fox has put in development Troubleshooter, a one-hour family soap from writer Sheri Elwood (Lucifer), Cedar Park Entertainment’s Chris Long and David Ayer and eOne, where Cedar Park is under a deal. The project is a co-production between eOne and Fox Entertainment.
Written by Elwood, Troubleshooter is described as a high-octane, off-beat family soap about a decorated soldier, wife and mother, Deni Vasquez. Overcoming scandal and under investigation, Deni is reassigned to a remote military base with her husband and teenage kids where she discovers life on the secluded post is just as lawless as life behind enemy lines.

Fox has given a script commitment with penalty to DEA, a drama from writer Craig Gore (S.W.A.T.), David Ayer and Chris Long’s Cedar Park Entertainment, Nacelle Company and eOne, where Cedar Park is under a deal. The project is a co-production between eOne and Fox Entertainment.
Written by Gore, DEA is an “operation of the week” show as Jack Riley and his DEA Task Force hunt down a “big bad” drug kingpin each season, dismantling dangerous drug organizations in major cities across the U.S. that local law enforcement cannot handle themselves. Episodes will be a combination of smart investigation, intense action, as we explore what drives our main characters (cops and criminals) on both sides of the law.

Exclusive: Danielle Moné Truitt (Snowfall) is set as a series regular on the upcoming Fox series Deputy, starring Stephen Dorff, from Entertainment One and Fox Entertainment.
Truitt will play a new character, Deputy Charlie Minnick. Charlie takes the place of Deputy Rachel Quinn, who was introduced in the pilot. Siena Goines, who played Rachel, has departed.
Written by Beall and directed by David Ayer, Deputy is a cop drama that blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern attitude and gritty authenticity. When the Los Angeles County Sheriff dies, an arcane rule forged back in the Wild West thrusts the most unlikely man into the job: a fifth-generation lawman (Dorff) who’s more comfortable taking down bad guys than navigating a sea of politics. He leads a skilled team of ambitious and complicated human beings who won’t rest until justice is served.

Longmire will get a proper sendoff.
Netflix announced today a sixth and final season for the series based on the Walt Longmire series of books by Craig Johnson.
The final season will consist of 10 episodes and air sometime in 2017.
First airing on A&E, the series was off the air quite a while as long-time fans sent angry messages about pulling the show.
Longmire was getting decent ratings when it last aired on a traditional cable network, and fans voices went unheard.
Or so they thought.
That's where Netflix came in and saved that day. It was the success of Longmire on Netflix and being saved from destruction that has helped so many fans make the appeal to Netflix when their now-favorite shows are on the chopping block.
What they have to remember, however, is that Longmire came with the goods: cast, writing, viewers were all well above standard.

The TV world is always wild, and some of the cable networks are still figuring out exactly what it is they’re trying to get out of shows, as they attempt to appeal to whatever demographic they have decided is “theirs,” but the cancellation of Longmire was a shock to a lot of people.
That’s especially true when you consider the ratings it was getting.
Of course, saner heads prevailed, and the show was picked up by Netflix. The last word I head on it was that production is meant to start in March.
At any rate, the show is a great one, and stood out during its three season run as one that was trying to set its own mark.
The third season release is headed your way, and you want to mark your calendar for this one. It isn’t exactly loaded with special features, but it hardly matters with this show.

There’s something satisfactory about a series that does well, even if it is on a smaller network like A&E. For a show like Longmire, a few million views per episode is considered a hit, whereas if it were airing on CBC it would be considered a failure. Thankfully that’s not the case. In fact, it’s the exact opposite for Longmire, which is A&E’s most-watched drama ever. It’s a low bar to hit, sure, but it’s still something that matters. You should never think a few million isn’t a lot. Can you honestly say you watch a ton of A&E programming? I know I don’t. So Longmire amassing its viewer count is an achievement worth noting.
To celebrate the success of Longmire, A&E has renewed the drama for a third season now that A&E has closed a new deal with Warner Horizon.

It may have taken a few months, but A&E has finally given "Longmire" a third season order.
The crime thriller starring Robert Taylor wrapped its second season back in August and executive producer John Coveny tweeted that Season 3 was a go just a few days after, but the network remained curiously tight-lipped in terms of an official announcement. Why it took until Monday (Nov. 25) to confirm the news remains a mystery.
"'Longmire' has become one of the most compelling dramas on television with a devoted audience and we are so proud of the show," A&E executive vice president David McKillop said in a statement."We are thrilled to continue our wonderful partnership with Warner Horizon Television, the production team, and the talented cast and crew led by the exceptional Robert Taylor."

It took awhile but A&E and Warner Horizon finally closed a deal for a 10-episode third season of the network’s most-watched drama series ever, Longmire. The cop is out on A&E.
In disappointing, albeit unsurprising news, the network announced yesterday that it has canceled The Glades after four seasons.
The light-hearted drama concluded Season 4 on Monday by racking up 3.4 million viewers and will now leave them with an unanswered cliffhanger, with Jim shot by and bloody when the credits rolled.
Fortunately for fans of another A&E series, however, there will be no such lack of closure: Longmire producer John Coveny Tweeted that his show has been renewed for another season, though we are still awaiting confirmation from the network itself.

A&E is getting out The Glades.
The low-buzz yet sturdy Florida-set crime drama has been axed by the cable network after four seasons. The most recent edition averaged 2.6 million viewers on Monday nights. Fun fact: The Glades was the first A&E scripted series to last more than one season.
On the bright side for A&E, it’s looking like semi-struggling new drama Longmire will get a third season. Nothing is official yet, but co-creator John Coveny tweeted yesterday “Season 3 for #Longmire is a Go!” So that sounds pretty confident.

It looks like Longmire will be renewed for a third season. Executive producer John Coveny broke the news on Twitter today, writing, "Thanks to the 5 million plus weekly fans (live+7). Young and older skewing alike! The call just came: Season 3 for #Longmire is a Go!"
According to Deadline, A&E and Warner Bros. have no comment and insiders cautioned that the two sides have yet to finalize a deal. There has been some speculation that a deal could include A&E taking some ownership in the show.

Season two averaged 3.7 million viewers, nearly a million more than Bates Motel's audience. The Longmire finale drew 4.42 million, nearly a series high.

Last Monday saw the season finale of Bates Motel on A&E Network. This week saw the return of The Glades and Longmire, both of which saw viewership growth over their previous season premieres. The Season 4 debut of Glades was watched by 3.3 million viewers Monday at 9 Pm. That’s up 6% for the scripted drama over its Season 3 debut on June 3 last year. However, Glades was down in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, getting 904,000 viewers in the 18-49 compared to 1.1 million for Season 3′s debut. In 25-54, Glades Season 4 premiere slid from 1.4 million to 1 million. The second A&E season premiere of the night saw Longmire back for Season 2. The Wyoming-based crime drama bopped up 5% from its freshman-season debut with 4.3 million viewers, rising 12% in both 18-49 and 25-52 over its June 3 series premiere. Exclusive: Top literary managers David Lonner and Larry Shuman are in serious talks to merge their companies, Oasis Media Group and The Shuman Co, respectively. In the scenario being discussed, Shuman and Lonner and his Oasis partner John Mass would join forces under the Oasis umbrella, tied to an effort to secure financing to expand the business. If it closes, the merger would bring under the same roof such feature and TV heavyweights as Jj Abrams, Brad Silberling, Jon Turteltaub, Shawn Ryan and David Shore. While 2-year-old Oasis has some TV clients — crossover A-lister Abrams and ER and Detroit 1-8-7 showrunner David Zabel — the company skews heavily towards features with a client list that includes Abrams, Silberling, Turteltaub, Peter Sollett, Michael Tolkin, Audrey Wells and Rob Minkoff. Meanwhile, Shuman, who has run his boutique company for 20 years, has a TV-heavy roster that includes House creator Shore, The Shield creator Ryan,...

A&E has shown it has a soft spot for pilots starring Katee Sackhoff and a former Agent from The Matrix. After the network decided not to pick up Big Mike last month, it looked a sure thing Longmire would be picked up instead. The show will air its pilot along with nine newly ordered episodes. Longmire is based on the Walt Longmire Mystery novels written by Craig Johnson. Robert Taylor (he was one of the few Matrix Agents not played by Hugo Weaving) plays the man the show and novels are named after, Walt Longmire. He’s the dedicated and unwavering sheriff of Absaroka County. Recently widowed, he hides his pain behind his charisma and dry wit.

After a lengthy screening and decision-making process for their two pilots Longmire and Big Mike, A&E brass just passed on one of them, Big Mike. Exclusive: A&E is launching its next pilot season with cast-contingent pilot orders to two hourlong projects, Big Mike and Longmire. Both are male-centered shows in the mold of A&E's two series on the air, The Glades and the upcoming Breakout Kings. And Big Mike, which hails from Adam Sandler's comedy-driven Happy Madison and Something About Mary co-writers Ed Decter and John Strauss, appears to share the light tone of The Glades. Big Mike, co-produced by Happy Madison and Sony Pictures TV, is named after the central character, a plus-sized detective and a force of nature in the San Diego Pd. One of the best in his field, he gets things done, knows all the right people, gets along with everyone, and knows all the best places to eat. His greatest challenge in his romantic life. Doug Robinson is executive producing the pilot with Decter and Strauss who wrote it.

A couple years back, we heard straight from writer/director David Gordon Green that he was working on a remake of the kids racing flick Six Pack. The Playlist says the project started as an original script called Burnin' Rubber but Fox, in all their infinite wisdom, asked him if he could re-write it as the aforementioned remake. Well, Pajiba reports that with all this remake nonsense, Green is no longer involved as the director and instead has opted to attach Kevin James to star with filmmaker Tom Dey, who helmed this summer's comedy classic Marmaduke, directing instead. Here's another project that has gone to hell in a handbasket. Green will still apparently stay on as producer, but John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin, who are the writers and producers of TNT's "The Closer," have taken over writing duties on the script and are working on a rewrite. This is really...

I absolutely cannot imagine a movie featuring Kenny Rogers, Diane Lane, and Anthony Michael Hall, but that's because I never saw the 1982 guilty pleasure Six Pack. I almost feel bad about not having had seen it, but for the fact that it's also about race car driving, and I don't really want any part of a movie about race car driving that's not making fun of race car driving.
At any rate, earlier this year, it was reported that David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Your Highness) was developing a remake of Six Pack, and that was all well and good, and I'd have expected Green's remake to be something akin to Richard Linklater's remake of The Bad News Bears. We can't really begrudge good directors their guilty pleasures, but it's not like we have to like them.
Anyway, Green -- who was once attached to write and direct -- is no longer aboard.

Television Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – We have good news for fans of “Will & Grace” and “Ed”. The stars of those two shows have been lucky enough to have lightning strike their careers again with TNT’s “Trust Me”.
Gimmicks and concepts may get an audience to tune in for a premiere episode, but television is still primarily a medium that lives and dies on the quality of its writing. Even the best ensembles will find themselves looking for other work if the writing doesn’t click. And it’s often difficult for TV stars who find success once to land another project with the same caliber of writing (ask Jason Alexander, Brad Garrett, or the cast of Fox’s “Back to You”.)
