As a child actor appeared in the same British television show as Anthony Hopkins, who advised him to work hard and attempt to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, which he managed to do. Less than ten years later he was honored to act with Anthony Hopkins again, in Das Schweigen der Lämmer (1991). Three other actors that he's pals or appeared in movies with, who also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art are: Peter O'Toole also Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton.

Supports Chelsea Football Club and could often be seen at Stamford Bridge in the VIP box with his pal Richard Attenborough, the star of such classic movies as Gesprengte Ketten (1963) and Jurassic Park (1993), who was also at one time Chelsea Football Club's director, and from 2008 the life president of the club.

[on his retirement from film and television acting] As far as my own acting is concerned, it's been commercials and voiceover work since Japan (2008). It's the same old shit. I'm driving the car. I've been in so many car commercials. There's nothing special about it.

[on the death of his good friend, Peter Fonda] He lived in Montana, you know. We were planning to get together next month, Instead, I'll be attending a celebration of his life in New York. Peter Fonda had a serious side, obviously, but for the most part he was all about fun and excitement. He was always smiling or laughing or driving a motorcycle or out sailing. With both of us coming from showbiz families, Peter and I simply connected, in a groovy, kind of far-out way. He was a very cool cat.

[on being a child actor during the 70s] I was in lots of movies and British TV shows as a child actor, several other movies, too. Der Mann, der König sein wollte (1975) was one of them, and I had a few seconds in Der weiße Hai (1975).

[on the pranks and practical jokes that he and his friend Peter Fonda, used to play on each other] We'd often play pranks on each other, like the time in Phoenix when I hid Peter's Ferrari, I told him the police were looking for him because his car had been stolen and used in a bank robbery. I said the car had been smashed to pieces and the police wanted him to give them a call.

[on the filming and release of the movie Japan (2008)] It was released in Europe in 2008, as it had a French director. We filmed in Phoenix in August and September of 2005. Very hot. We were in Paradise Valley at a resort that was due to be demolished a few months later.
