Fresh off its maiden voyage, Lamb of God’s Headbangers Boat will set sail again in 2024. The band has officially announced that a second edition of the metal cruise will feature Dethklok, Chimaira, Poison the Well, At the Gates, and several more notable acts.
The cruise will depart from Miami on October 28th and make a stop at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, before returning to Miami on November 1st. Early signups are available now via the Headbangers Boat website, while the public onsale starts on Tuesday (November 21st) at 2 p.m. Et.
Lamb of God will once again headline the cruise, playing two sets. Additional acts include Soulfly, Exodus, Napalm Death, Corrosion of Conformity, After the Burial, Currents, Bleeding Through, Unearth, Eyehategod, Frozen Soul, UnityTX, and a solo set from Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton. Comedians Shayne Smith and Mike Abrusci will also be on board to perform standup sets.

Cleveland, Ohio-based metal unit Chimaira has somehow soldiered on through non-stop personnel and label changes along their career timeline, with only frontman/co-founder Mark Hunter still remaining from the band's original lineup by the time their sixth album The Age of Hell dropped in 2011. While each new major incarnation has shed them quite a few fans (and occasionally gained others), constant upheaval has been the norm for this band over the past decade or so – and somehow, through it all, they've managed to seize upon a fairly consistent, recognizable groove. That core of deep, stacked, beat-locked riffs with electronic embellishments first got my attention through the track “Army of Me” on the Freddy vs. Jason companion CD (although the song wasn't in the film itself), which in turn led me to their 2003 album The Impossibility of Reason. In 2004, Cees Wessels, founder and owner of Roadrunner Records, approached longtime A&R chief Monte Conner about creating a project and event to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the label.
