Sharon Van Etten shared a new single called “Close to You,” which she co-wrote with Courtney Barnett for the official soundtrack to the upcoming Apple Original drama series The Buccaneers.
Equal parts eerie and alluring, “Close to You” sees Van Etten infuse her classic Americana-inspired rock with a heavy wash of dreamy reverb, cooing lines like: “I got a taste of being with you, don’t wanna waste more time,” “put on your best dress and get out of your head,” and “get away and I’ll stay close to you.”
The song was produced by Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa, who also produced the entire soundtrack: “It was a truly incredible experience working with this group of uniquely talented artists,” she said in a press release. “Everyone brought their A-game and taught me something invaluable about the creative process. Witnessing these artists map each character’s journey through song was...

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for “The Buccaneers,” a new drama series based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel. “The Buccaneers” will debut its first three episodes on Nov. 8, followed by the release of new episodes weekly every Wednesday through Dec. 13.
Olivia Rodrigo’s “all-american bitch” plays throughout the trailer as a group of carefree, fun-loving American girls enter the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, according to the release. An Anglo-American culture clash ensues due to the girls’ refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. The buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than just securing husbands and titles. “Saying ‘I do’ is just the beginning,” to quote the logline.

Why Stars Like Brian Cox, Jason Isbell and Damian Lewis Are Flocking to This Leather Jacket Designer
Savannah Yarborough, a classically trained, Central Saint Martins-educated tailor, is sitting on a calf-hair-covered sofa thinking about the one-year anniversary of the Melrose Avenue outpost of her leatherwear store, Savas. “It may be a cliché,” she says, “but everybody came to L.A. to be someone and to do something, and a leather jacket is kind of a boost of that power.”
Yarborough, who grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, is known for her meticulously crafted custom leather jackets, first sold at her Nashville store in the city’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood, which opened in 2015. Yarborough likes to say that she “makes leather jackets for people who don’t wear leather jackets.
“People say they don’t wear leather jackets because in their mind, they’re envisioning a Marlon Brando vibe, but when I make them in a super-soft, suede shirt jacket that feels like the denim chambray shirt that you’d wear on a Sunday,...

The Kills — the indie rock duo featuring singer Alison Mosshart and guitarist Jamie Hince — have announced the impending arrival of their first new album in seven years, God Games.
Ahead of the LP’s October 27 release, the band has shared the latest single, “103,” a love song set amid the ever-increasing, life-threatening heat waves plaguing the planet.
The visual for “103” was directed by Steven Sebring and makes use of a custom-built 3D film studio as the camera revolves around Mosshart and Hince, who — keeping with the song’s theme — don tanning goggles and solar eclipse glasses.

The Kills have readied God Games, their first album in seven years. The project is out in full on October 27th via Domino, while the new single “103” is available to stream now.
For God Games, The Kills tried a mix of strategies old and new. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince composed its 12 tracks primarily on piano, a first for the duo, but recorded the LP with producer Paul Epworth, who the band have known for 20 years. They recorded the album in an old church, which presumably added to their signature sultry, blues-inspired sound.
New track “103” begins with crackling electronic percussion and guitar that rolls in waves as Mosshart sings about the end of the world. The deceptively calming song comes with a 360-degree music video directed by Steven Sebring that follows The Kills as they try not to melt under the sun’s rays. Check it out below.
Pre-orders for God Games are ongoing.

The Kills are back with “New York” and “LA Hex,” their first new material in five years. Listen to the dual singles below.
Darkly cinematic, “New York” feels like a song that would open an action movie thanks to its dramatic blend of horns and stop-start percussion. “You tase just like New York/ Before a storm takes hold,” Alison Mosshart sings, over Jamie Hince’s classic garage guitar. The duo sit ringside at a boxing match in the track’s music video, directed by Andrew Theodore Balasia.
Balasia also directs the video for “LA Hex,” where the artists harmonize over melancholy trumpets and a rolling electronic beat. “I still got my ways, you know,” Hince and Mosshart sing. As their first release since in several years, the line feels all the more pointed.

Damian Lewis has found love again. More than one year since the passing of his wife Helen McCrory, the Billions star confirmed his relationship with Alison Mosshart while at a summer event for The House of Koko in London on July 6. At the event, Alison and Damian posed together for a photo in which her arm is cozily wrapped around the actor's shoulder with her face gently leaning on his. Earlier that same day, Alison's mother Vivian discussed her daughter's relationship. "I don't know how much flak I'm going to get for all of this but of course we are excited for her," she told the Daily Mail. "They have mutual friends. I don't know...

The epitome of the celebrity chef as culinary rock star, Anthony Bourdain gave off a seen-it-all, snorted-shot-and-survived-it-all vibe when he first came to the public’s attention — a New Yorker forged in the fires of upscale restaurants whose zen-punk personality helped turn his 2000 book Kitchen Confidential into a bestseller. "Always did have a flavor for danger." Lionsgate has dropped a new trailer for a dark, edgy thriller comedy titled Habit, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff. This film has dropped out of nowhere, not hitting any festivals or anywhere else before opening in August this summer. It definitely looks like a very Los Angeles film made by Los Angeles people for Los Angeles people. A street smart party girl gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out by masquerading as a Nun with her other BFFs to escape a L.A. drug lord. The Habit ensemble cast includes Bella Thorne, Gavin Rossdale, Libby Mintz, Andreja Pejic, Hana Mae Lee, Ione Skye, Aaron Diaz, Jamie Hince, Hayley Marie Norman, Alison Mosshart, with Paris Jackson and Josie Ho. This (obviously) looks all wild & crazy, and instantly forgettable, another of these mediocre crime...

Looking for a worthy project to complete for his thesis film at Nyu back in 1978, with his genuine sense of interest and weasily persuasive personality, Howard Brookner somehow convinced the then world famous writer William Burroughs to let himself become the subject of the warm cinematic portrait that would become Burroughs: The Movie. Brookner gathered his fellow film students Jim Jarmusch and Tom Dicillo to serve as sound recordist and cinematographer, respectively, and they set about filming on and off for five years, observing Burroughs in all aspects of his life, both public and private. After the film premiered in New York City in 1983 and followed with a brief world tour, the film sat in storage and was nearly forgotten about after Brookner succumbed to AIDS in 1989.
Thankfully, Howard’s nephew Aaron Brookner grew up with a taste for cinema, had visited his uncle’s sets, worked as a production...

Kelly Osbourne is engaged to her boyfriend of more than a year, Matthew Mosshart. A source tells Us Weekly the happy couple agreed before Christmas to tie the knot, but they're keeping the engagement on the low.
Matthew is a vegan celebrity chef and brother of musician Alison Mosshart, who is one-half of The Kills. Alison's bandmate, Jamie Hince, married Kate Moss in June 2011, and it was at their wedding that Kelly and Matthew met. They first stepped out as a couple six months later.
A year after meeting Matthew, Kelly tweeted, "I'm in love and I don't care who knows about it!" She also tells Fabulous UK -- in the interview that reignited the feud between Kelly and Lady Gaga -- that Matthew is her first true love.
"I couldn't believe that he truly liked me because I never think people ever could," says Kelly. "But I'm so happy.
