Marvel Comics has done a lot recently. I mean, I just finished up Secret Empire and loved it, and it looks like Marvel has already moved on to their next big event series called Avengers: No Surrender.
How do I feel about this? Um... fine? Very little is known about No Surrender, but this trailer tries to show you that this one is the one that matters. It's a solid trailer. Great images, interviews with creators, epic music, and introductions to a brand new Avenger who we've never heard of. All of these things are meant to entice us.
Will I read it? Yeah. Probably. Does that make it sound any more epic? Not really. I mean, Avengers are always fighting the worst thing ever, and what makes this time any different? The world has literally ended and recreated before.
I want to be excited, and there is one thing...

Even though we were promised no major crossover miniseries for at least 18 months after the conclusion of Secret Empire, that doesn’t mean there won’t be other storylines that’ll shake the Marvel Universe to its core. In fact, the House of Ideas fully intends on starting 2018 with a bang, thanks in no small part to Avengers: No Surrender.
Now, if this seems confusing to you at all, know that the difference between No Surrender and something like, say, Civil War II or Secret Wars is that this particular arc won’t be told throughout the course of a limited series. Instead, it’ll span the pages of some other ongoing titles, namely Avengers, Uncanny Avengers and U.S.Avengers.
From that, you were probably able to deduce that those three unique teams – along with Voyager, “the greatest Avenger you’ve never heard of” – will be joining forces...

It’s the end of an Avengers Era as we know it… And in the team’s final days, a change has come to the Marvel Universe in the form of an all-new Weekly epic – which starts this January!
Debuting in the pages of Avengers #675, the Avengers-verse changing Avengers: No Surrender storyline is a weekly saga that unites the casts and creative teams of three titles into an epic tale of heroic action, jaw-dropping cliffhangers, and drastic adventures! The Avengers, Uncanny Avengers and U.S. Avengers come together in a powerhouse of an event that will be unleashed in a story as, and I quote: “spectacular and epic as the Marvel Universe itself”. Hmmm, where have we heard That before?

Ever since Marvel pulled back the curtain on its next major crossover event, Secret Empire, the hype train has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down. Not only do readers have a Free Comic Book Day sampler to look forward to this May, but also the first round of tie-ins set to broaden the experience.
Not surprisingly, Captain America: Steve Rogers #17 is set to take part in the festivities. Aside from Rogers looking a bit fascistic in some Hydra threads, Marvel hasn’t given us much to go on. It’s understandable that they keep their cards close to their vest as none of us have read a single page from anything to be included in this event, but here’s the official solicit anyway:

Comic Book Reviews: Marvel Comic Book Round Up New Comic Series!
With 2016 starting off strong for Marvel, the company soon seemed to lose its way as it headed into the summer season with company wide crossover, Civil War II. Suddenly books which had previously been doing well, started to dip as they were roped into the major event that was not getting the best of reviews. Characters were suddenly being written completely different from how they were previously acting with little to no explanation; story content was dropped or pushed to the side to make way for the Civil War II connections. All of this, and DC had just launched its Rebirth line up. While DC was learning from their New 52 mistakes, and attempting to bring their characters back to a more recognizable state, Marvel was putting all their eggs into Brian Michael Bendis Civil War II basket. The result?...

We’re all familiar with superhero teams such as the Avengers, Justice League, X-Men and Teen Titans, but some of the coolest moments to come by in the comic book medium happen to be when those other than the usual suspects join forces. Such looks to be the case with the brand new series Us Avengers.
Boasting an eclectic lineup of Squirrel Girl, Red Hulk, Pod, Cannonball, Golden Skull, Iron Patriot and a very different Captain America, this new title brought to us by the creative team of writer Al Ewing and artist Paco Medina looks to deliver something that True Believers who stray from the beaten path will enjoy immensely.

Thanks to The Washington Post we have this first look at The U.S. Avengers. The team is led by Roberto Da Costa (Aka former New Mutant Sunspot), who has bought A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) and renamed it Avengers Idea Mechanics. The rest of the roster is made up of Squirrel Girl, Pod, Red Hulk, Danielle Cage, Cannonball and Toni Ho as the new Iron Patriot. This new outfit was formed to take on the threats usually faced by S.H.I.E.L.D., and their first foe will be futuristic villain, The Golden Skull. Written by Al Ewing with art by Paco Medina, U.S. Avengers #1 is set to hit shelves this Fall.

Legendary Star-Lord #9

Published by Marvel Comics
After taking time last issue to decide what to do with the mysterious Black Vortex, the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men finally come to blows with their cosmically transformed teammates. But while Star-Lord and the other heroes debate their next course of action, another hero may just lead the charge in his place…
The last issue in this crossover didn’t do much in the way of progressing the plot, choosing instead to focus on the tactical and moral choices that the teams faced going forward. Writer Sam Humphries takes the opposite route, turning the tension Bendis built up last issue into good old fashioned superhero fisticuffs. It’s not just mindless action, either. The characters involved bounce off of each other in natural ways from Drax the Destroyer giving young Jean Grey battlefield...

Marvel announced these a while back, but it seems more appropriate to show you these on Flag Day: to promote Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel is running “I Am Captain America” variant covers on selected titles through June and July, with all-new artwork from Joe Quesada, Marko Djurdjevic, Alex Maleev, Skottie Young, and Ed McGuiness, among others.
Personally, I’d love to have a few of these as posters.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List. This edition covers my comic purchases for the first two weeks of August – which brings us bang up to date with this weeks release! Between less comics to buy and a busy schedule it’s been hard to keep up, hopefully this should now return to its regular fortnightly schedule

Victor Gischler and Paco Medina’s X-Men #3 sounds like it will be a hot one. It continues the Curse of the Mutants storyline and finds the X-Men resurrecting Dracula to help take down Xarus. Be sure to stick it on your pull list prior to its release date of September 9.

Marvel is to reboot the X-Men with a new story in which they take on vampires.
It all begins with X-Men 1, written by Victor Gischler and drawn by Paco Medina. The comic is published on July 8.
There are a number of alternative covers for the issue, some of them included here.
The issue marks the start of the Curse of the Mutants plotline in which the team will face an army of bloodsuckers. (It's not the first time, though - I can remember when The Uncanny X-Men series saw the team fighting Dracula in issue 159, back in 1982; in fact I still have that issue here, 28 years after buying it.)
In its initial promotional teaser, Marvel said: "The X-Men enter the Heroic Age (see below for what that means) in their first X-Men 1 in 20 years - but just what is The Curse Of The Mutants? Why have vampires targeted the mutant population?...
