The NBA has postponed 5 upcoming games involving 9 teams due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
Affected Sunday matches include the Denver Nuggets against the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers against the Atlanta Hawks, and the New Orleans Pelicans against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Cavaliers had 5 players enter the NBA’s health and safety protocols after testing positive for Covid-19: Jarrett Allen, Lamar Stevens, Dylan Windler, Denzel Valentine, and Rj Nembhard. They join previously added, Isaac Okoro and Evan Mobley.
The Brooklyn Nets have 10 players in protocol including Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. Irving has yet to comply with New York’s vaccine mandate.
The NBA requires any player to enter protocol if they have not been fully vaccinated but have been exposed to someone who has.
Monday’s game between the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors, and the Washington Wizards against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday are also postponed.

There's certainly been plenty of controversy surrounding Lamar Odom's request to be traded away from the La Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks this week, but one person who isn't getting caught up in the buzz is his new coach, Rick Carlisle.
He's also not concerned about Odom's reality show getting in the way of his game -- in fact, Carlisle told the Dallas Morning News that he'd be willing to be on camera for the show. "I've never been one to rule anything out," he says. "I guess it would be a long shot to be asked."
Though Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian, has expressed mixed feelings about her move to Dallas, Carlisle's feelings about Khloe are not so mixed.
"I will say this: Khloe's my favorite Kardashian," he says. "She's the coolest."

Rafael Nadal has tasted victory over Roger Federer once again. This time, it came from off-court. The world's No. 2 tennis player bested over the former world's No. 1 at the 19th Annual Espy Awards as he was announced the winner of Best Male Tennis Player on Wednesday night, July 13.
While he successfully took over the title from Roger, 25-year-old Nadal didn't sweep clean his nominations. The Spanish star lost the Best Male Athlete trophy to Dallas Mavericks star player Dirk Nowitzki, who became the first NBA player to win the category since Michael Jordan in 1993.
One of the big winners, Dirk said in his acceptance speech, "I'm so humbled and honored by this. It's been an unreal year for all of us on the Mavericks." The 33-year-old athlete, whose NBA team won Best Team, has also scored another kudo as he beat the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James for Best NBA Player.
