Marvel’s television division is officially winding down.
Variety has learned that Marvel Television will no longer be developing any new series beyond the shows that are currently in production. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Marvel will eliminate a number of positions in the near future as a result of the cessation of development at the division. Karim Zreik, senior vice president of current programming and production and members of his team will now join the Marvel Studios group. Zreik will lead the current projects in production. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb will remain with the division during the transition.
The move to close up shop on Marvel Television was not altogether unexpected, as Variety reported in September that there was a growing perception in the industry that Loeb’s division was on its way out given that Marvel movies boss Kevin Feige was set to...

Over 300 original artefacts on display at an exhibition here include iconic comics, costumes and props ranging from the earliest Marvel comic books to original theatrical costumes of 'Black Panther' and 'Captain America'.
The Franklin Institute is hosting 'Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes', an exhibit highlighting the history, influence and excitement of the iconic comic book publisher and entertainment company. It can be seen through September 2.
In Marvel's 80th anniversary year, when "Avengers: Endgame" has earned record-breaking box office numbers, the exhibition celebrates decades of the publisher's visual and cultural impact.
"Marvel has always been a reflection of the world outside your window, and one of its most compelling messages has always been, that anyone - regardless of race, religion or gender - can be a superhero," Brian Crosby, Creative Director of Marvel Themed Entertainment, said in a statement.
The exhibition traces how Marvel's stories have responded...

Irish band Bell X1 recently released their latest full length, Chop Chop, a strikingly scaled-back effort that focuses on the band’s basics, leaving additional instrumentals behind in favor of focusing on basics. “From the moment I heard demos, I knew this was a special batch of songs, nestled in the sweet spot between wistfulness and joy. The challenge was in making the songs rich and robust without losing the fragility and intimacy that made them so striking in the first place,” Thomas Barlett explains in a recent press release. In the latest video from the band, it’s obvious they’re maintaining...

Towards the end of the set, Conor O’Brien – who to all intents and purposes is Villagers – comments that the last time they played this very venue, it was only half-full. Tonight though, you can barely move. People are even stood shoulder to shoulder on the stairs flanking the rammed balcony overlooking the stage. Villagers are moving up in the world.
Villagers have toured with Neil Young, Tracy Chapman, Elbow, Bell X1, Grizzly Bear and Tindersticks. Is there an official term for the point at which a band graduates from opening-act to beloved headliner – capable of selling-out small-to-mid size venues across the country and encouraging people to travel to Birmingham from as far afield as Derby to see them? For me at least, Villagers have certainly breached said point, but special guests Stealing Sheep haven’t. That said, give it a year and you might find it quaint that such...

Irish indie-rock lads carry momentum on latest
Ironically for a band named after the first aircraft to shatter the sound barrier, the lads in Bell X1 have been a little slow transporting the success they’ve enjoyed in their native Ireland across the teeming Atlantic to the United States. But while 2008’s Flock landed them a spot on Letterman and song placements on a number of TV shows (most notably a high-profile episode of The Oc), their new record Blue Lights On The Runway has the potential to turn X1 into a stateside #1. The digitized percussion opening lead single “How Your Heart Is Wired” quickly spills into a lush guitar riff that suggests a more adrenalized version of Radiohead’s “Talk Show Host.” Lead singer Paul Noonan is a savagely brilliant, left-field lyricist. You’ll find a lump in your throat even when you don’t know exactly what he’s getting at.
