Mariah Stanley
Mariah Stanley, "the little girl with the big voice", is a 13 year-old
young lady from Buna, Texas. She was originally compared to other
artists (such as LeAnn Rimes and Brenda Lee) in her age, style and
strength of performance. However, Mariah has since carved out her own
style and niche - power with a soulful twang. She exhibits vocal
abilities, presence, and maturity beyond her age.
In 2002, Mariah began efforts to become a professional singer in earnest. In the brief time since, she has stunned audiences across the United States with her power, range and emotion. Unlike most performers, Mariah's tremendous range permits her to perform a variety of musical genres. Whether country, rock/pop, R&B, or gospel, Mariah uncannily emotes the feeling and style of each song as if it is her natural and only style. In little more than two years, Mariah has become one of the most sought after performers in the Texas music scene. When not performing, she is a normal eighth grader, enjoying bicycle riding, outings to the lake or beach, swimming, and reading. She is an honor student, a member of her school's student council, a cheerleader, and an academic competition competitor. Onstage, however, she adds 20 years of musical presence and experience.
Quite precocious from birth, her affinity for performing on stage is no surprise to anyone who knows her. As a small child, she "passed the hat" for donations at family gatherings when prompted to sing. She first sang publicly at the age of 7 during a beauty pageant. When the emcee asked if she would sing for the crowd, obviously expecting her to be too shy, Mariah grabbed the microphone from her hand and stunned the crowd with an a cappella rendition of "Amazing Grace."
Mariah has appeared on national television, local television and radio. In fact, she has already had radio airplay of both original and cover music. She has also performed for major recording labels and national entertainment executives from Nashville, New York and Los Angeles. Mariah appears at numerous venues and events throughout the country and has received many awards and accolades for her efforts. She is a student of The Image Factory under the outstanding tutelage of award winning vocal and artist development team of Jayne Lybrand Wesson and Jim Wesson.
Mariah is a member of the Country Music Association and a regular performer at the Lake Theater in Lake Jackson, Texas. Additionally, she was a nominee for 2004 Female Performer of the Year (age 16 & under) and was a finalist at the 2003 Next Big Star competition, both at the world-renowned Johnnie High Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas. Mariah has opened for such artists as Capitol Records star Jennifer Hanson (number 1 song "Beautiful Goodbye"), Mark Nesler (writer of number 1 songs "Just to See You Smile" by Tim McGraw and "Living & Living Well" by George Strait), Curb Records singer/songwriter Jamie Richards, and many others.
In a very short period of time, "the little girl with the big voice" has covered a tremendous amount of ground for any performer, not to mention one of merely 13 years. She is a seasoned artist who maintains a focus, a drive and a work ethic that rivals any performer. That determination, coupled with her awesome God-given talent, has brought worldwide recognition including fans on three continents, in more than fifteen countries and twenty-five states. A new wind is blowing on the music scene, and they call the wind... MARIAH!
