Alexander Olch. From PatrickMcMullan.com. A gathering of native New Yorkers took place on Wednesday evening at producer Hunter Gray's apartment on Bond Street to celebrate the HBO premiere of the Windmill Movie, Alexander Olch's documentary about the late Richard Rogers, one of Olch's professors at Harvard. "My daughter Mariah went to Dalton with Alex, so there's really a Dalton connection going on," said actor Bob Balaban, in reference to Roger's own alma mater. "Alex didn't actually go there," confided Mariah later. "We just know each other from growing up in the city." And so, it seemed, did many of the other guests, including Tarajia Morrell, Zoe Wolff, and Francesca Channing-Secco. Olch spent six years completing the documentary that Rogers had been unable to finish before he died, and he acknowledged that it was strange to get to know his former professor in this unfamiliar way. "There was very...

Becka Diamond and Byrdie Bell. From PatrickMcMullan.com.It was fitting that the David Yurman–and Milly-sponsored benefit for the Fountain House, an organization dedicated to helping people recover from mental illnesses, fell on the day when Glenn Close and her sister Jessie launched a campaign to raise awareness about mental-health problems. Hoards of people, including Charlotte Ronson, Byrdie Bell, and Ally Hilfiger, flocked to the Palm Court of New York City's Plaza Hotel for cocktails. Party chairs Jeremy and Sarah Goldstein chatted with Christy Walton, wife of the late John T. Walton, as a raffle drawing took place. Girl-of-the-moment Becka Diamond was suitably dressed for the trek over to the Raquet and Tennis Club for dinner: "I'm not sure what this style is called, but I'm wearing Mongolian lamb—but I eat it, so I think you should use it all," she said before walking out with writer and...

Hijinks At The Jane. Michel Jean and Tarajia Morrell at the Jane hotel, in New York City. From PatrickMcMullan.com. The world did not let Bastille Day pass withouth notice, especially in France, where President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Carla, hosted a palace garden party. The British got into the mood as designer Saloni Lodha celebrated her new collection with a garden tea party. Those that attended included friends Poppy Delevingne, designer Charlotte Dellal, model Saffron Aldridge, and Astrid Harbord (who has been dating James Rothschild after Natalie Imbruglia bumped her as Prince Harry’s maybe girlfriend). Over in Milan, Dolce & Gabbana hosted Madonna’s after-show party at the label’s dazzling Gold restaurant.

A Chance To Dance. Phillip Lim and Amanda Brooks. From PatrickMcMullan.com. Last week at Collective Hardware, on New York City's Lower East Side, the fashion pack let its hair down for Phillip Lim and Amanda Brooks's dance party in honor of Michael Jackson. “I was hoping to see a few more M.J. dance moves,” remarked Lela Rose glancing around the heaving dance floor. Among those showing off their own moves were Richard Chai, Subversive's Justin Giunta, hair stylist Ashley Javier, stylist Natasha Royt, set designer Sebastian Sergeant and Miranda Brooks. “It's murder on the dance floor,” said Jessica Joffe before tossing her flaming locks and rushing headlong into the sweating fray. Others lounged in the salon upstairs or huddled around fans in vain attempts to cool down and rest their weary limbs. As actress Tarajia Morrell put her shoes back on her blackened feet to head out towards the after-party,...
