CAA has signed top baseball agent Casey Close, whose client roster includes New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. Close, who has been an agent for more than 14 years, has negotiated major baseball deals like Jeter's 10-year contract with the Yankees in 2001 and represented six first-round draft picks last year. Close, who will be based in CAA's New York office, comes from IMG, where he had headed the baseball division since 1992. Following Close are such major-league players on his client list as Derrek Lee, Richie Sexson, Ben Sheets, Mark Buehrle, Eric Milton and Kenny Lofton. The announcement comes a week after leading pro football agents Tom Condon and Ken Kremer also left IMG to join CAA (HR 4/6).
