Richarda Abrams, AUDELCO award-winning actress/singer/playwright/producer. Film/Television includes: One Live To Live, Another World, Cosby, Sherri, Oreos With Attitude, The Subject, I Am Here, The Riverside Bench, Wiggin' Out. Theatre Performances: New Federal Theatre, Crossroads Theater, Ivoryton Playhouse, 2ndStage, LaMama, Cherry Lane Theatre, Public Theater. Richarda sings the title song on the cd: Song for All written with her father the late Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams pianist, composer, bandleader, and co-founder of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM). Richarda is a member of Amina Claudine Myers Voice Choir, and Amina Claudine Myers Generation IV gospel group and has performed all over the world. Written works include: First By Faith: The Life Of Mary McLeod Bethune, BETHUNE: Our Black Velvet Rose and Big Mama and Me. Richarda's received NYSCA Theater Commissions and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Creative Engagement grants. She is a LMCC SU-CASA artist, fiscally sponsored by New York Foundation for the Arts. Memberships include: Actors Studio, ART/NY, Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, Episcopal Actors Guild, Dramatists Guild, AEA, SAG-AFTRA, NYWIFT, and League of Professional Theatre Women. Richarda holds a BFA with honors (Acting) New York University's Tisch School of the Arts & a MA (Educational Theater) NYU's Steinhardt-University of Leeds, Bretton Hall College, ENGLAND.
