Exclusive: 101 Studios has promoted EVP of Production and Development, James Allen, to Head of Scripted Films & Television Programming. The company also upped James Gold to SVP European Operations. From 101’s Beverly Hills headquarters, Allen will oversee and manage deals for scripted television shows, films, and development. He will continue to report to CEO David Glasser, COO David Hutkin and CFO Michele Newman.
“I have worked with James and James for 13 years and I am delighted to elevate their positions,” Glasser said. “They are both integral members of our 101 team’s continued expansion. “David Hutkin, Michele Newman and I are thrilled with all this team has accomplished and we can’t wait to see what the future brings.”

Nominations have been unveiled for the 48th edition of the Grierson Awards, the UK’s top documentary awards.
A total of 52 films are nominated across 14 categories. Of those, 21 were broadcast on BBC channel, while Netflix has nine nominations and Channel 4 has five. ITV and Al Jazeera have two apiece whilst nominations newcomer YouTube Originals joins Channel 5, National Geographic and Discovery with one each.
Tiger King is up for Best Entertaining Documentary alongside fellow Netflix title Love is Blind. Netflix’s Don’t F**k With Cats and The Devil Next Door are also both up for Best Documentary series.
The Best Cinema Documentary nominees are American Factory, which won the Oscar this year, alongside the Oscar nominated Honeyland and For Sama, with Midnight Family completing the field.

David Glasser’s 101 Studios has acquired U.S. rights to Nicolas Bedos’s French romantic comedy “La Belle Epoque” which world premiered out of competition at Cannes Film Festival to strong reviews and went on to play at Toronto.
The film stars Daniel Auteuil as Victor, a disillusioned sexagenarian cartoonist who has lost his job and is on the outs with his wife Marianne. A friend of his son who runs a thriving Vr company offers him the intriguing opportunity to travel back in time and revisit his glory days. Victor choses to go back to May 16, 1974, the day he met Marianne at a café, and soon finds himself drawn to Margo, the actress playing the younger incarnation of his spouse.
Auteuil stars in the film opposite Guillaume Canet, Dora Tillier, Fanny Ardant, and Pierre Arditi.

101 Studios has acquired U.S. rights to director Nicolas Bedos’s Cannes title La Belle Epoque, starring Daniel Auteuil, Guillaume Canet, Dora Tillier, Fanny Ardant, and Pierre Arditi.
The film premiered in Cannes and Toronto and is now slated for a spring 2020 U.S. theatrical release. It was released by Pathé Films in France in November and has drawn more than 1.3M admissions (approximately $8M). Box office has been good in other European markets, including Italy where it has made $1.7M to date.

The Weinstein Company has acquired Us television rights to UK-based Sid Gentle Films’ upcoming alternate history thriller to star Sam Riley and Kate Bosworth.
SS-gb is based on Len Deighton’s 1978 novel of the same name and will air on BBC One in the UK.
James Bond screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade adapted the speculative story, which takes place in a London in the 1940s occupied by the Nazis as a detective stumbles upon a web of intrigue.
Jason Flemyng, James Cosmo, Aneurin Barnard and Maeve Dermody also star alongside German actors Rainer Bock and Lars Eidinger.
Germany’s Philipp Kadelbach directs and executive producers are Sid Gentle Films’ Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris.
