A couple days ago, Neon announced that they will be releasing the horror film Cuckoo, which stars Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), in just a few months, on May 3rd. Now Deadline reports that Schafer has signed on to star in another genre project, the psychological horror thriller Palette, where she’ll be sharing the screen with Noomi Rapace (Prometheus).
The screenplay for Palette landed on the Black List last year, the Black List being an annual survey of the most-liked screenplays that are bouncing around in the system but haven’t been produced yet. Now this one is going into production with writer Zach Strauss at the helm. This will be the first feature directing credit for Strauss, who has also written Spike Lee’s upcoming film Da Understudy and episodes of the Frankie Shaw Showtime series Smilf.

Hunter Schafer and Noomi Rapace will star in “Palette,” a psychological horror film directed by Zach Strauss (“Smilf”) in his feature debut.
Strauss penned the script for “Palette,” which was featured on the 2023 Black List. He is also a writer on Spike Lee’s upcoming feature “Da Understudy.”
“Palette” follows Dolly (Schafer), “a woman suffering from extreme synesthesia, a rare condition where she is able to hear colors,” according to the film’s synopsis. She is soon “recruited into a secretive, cult-like industry of color design, uncovering the dark reality of what it takes to make the world’s greatest hues.”
Rapace is set to play Latrice, the company’s enigmatic executive. Frankie Shaw is also in the cast as Sidney, Dolly’s cutthroat rival.
Schafer is starring in another horror film, Tilman Singer’s “Cuckoo,” which is set to have its world premiere at Berlin Film Festival this month.

Sleepless in Seattle is a romantic comedy-drama that captured hearts worldwide in 1993. The movie starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as the lead characters, Sam and Annie. However, a young yet pivotal character stole the show and left a lasting impression on viewers. This character was none other than Jonah Baldwin, Sam’s son, played by Ross Malinger.
The star was only 9 years old when he appeared in the movie, but his acting skills were remarkable. Despite the success of Sleepless in Seattle, Ross Malinger ultimately decided to leave acting behind. Today, Malinger is a car salesman living away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

With an unprecedented number of Oscar nominations for Irish talent and films this year, everyone was celebrating the green wave at the 17th annual Oscar Wilde Awards, held Thursday night — before the rain arrived — at Bad Robot in Santa Monica. “It’s amazing, there are 7 million people on that island, and all of them were nominated and are here tonight,” host J.J. Abrams joked, in a year when 25 percent of the Academy Award acting nominations are held by Irish actors.
The Oscar Wilde honorees this year were Irish actresses Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jessie Buckley (Women Talking), Eve Hewson (Flora and Son) and An Cailίn Ciúin (The Quiet Girl), the first Irish language film nominated for an Academy Award. Created by the US-Ireland Alliance, the Oscar Wilde Awards celebrate the work of those from Ireland — and some who are not — who contribute to the movies, television and music.

Fans of HBO Max’s “Julia” were boiling mad when the delicious series about the legendary Julia Child’s early days of television stardom failed to earn a single Emmy nomination over the summer. But with Golden Globes nominations less than a week away, some hope is beginning to simmer again for its captivating star Sarah Lancashire, who could rightly nab her first ever bid for her transformative and utterly charming performance.
According to our current combined odds, Lancashire will just make the cut in the TV comedy actress race, rounding out a category that we anticipate will feature returning champion Jean Smart (“Hacks”), Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), Selena Gomez (“Only Murders in the Building”) and past winner Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”).

Exclusive: Campside Media, the company behind the popular Chameleon podcast series, which documented the story of the Hollywood Con Queen, has lined up its next project – the story of the wild kidnapping attempt of Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The story, which is based on reporting from Ken Bensinger and Jessica Garrison, is being lined up as the sixth season of the Chameleon podcast.
However, in a new twist, the company is also simultaneously developing a television adaptation and has teamed up with Jeremy Miller and Daniel Cohn, who have worked on shows such as Ally McBeal and Entourage, to pen the small-screen adaptation.
The Michigan Plot details exactly what happened beyond the initial headlines that told the world the FBI had narrowly thwarted a kidnapping attempt against the governor of Michigan. The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

I wasn’t sure about No Sudden Move, at first. The notion of a crime drama directed by Steven Soderbergh bears with it all manner of expectation, not unlike when you mix “gangster” with “Scorsese.” It’s all a bit 1 + 1 = 2; you can feel when the math is off, and you can also feel when the deviations are deliberate. For all its immediately apparent polish — and the automatic pleasure of seeing the likes of Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Brendan Fraser and others up to no good and clearly at odds — Soderbergh’s newest effort felt,...

Steven Soderbergh’s No Sudden Move is deviously sexy. Not in that sweaty between the sheets way best enjoyed up against a wall. The subtle eroticism comes from what’s under the sheets and behind the walls. Every character has something to hide, and nothing to say about it. Secrets are like mascara, alibis are fedoras. Everybody wants something, but they won’t say what it is. The biggest villains want things to disappear, and they certainly don’t want anybody talking about it.
No Sudden Move is a heist film, but don’t go in expecting Ocean’s 11, in spite of the all-star cast. This is a theft worth savoring, and Soderbergh gives the players room to breathe. Of course, any of those breaths can be a character’s last, which becomes apparent very quickly. Most of the other information trickles out like blood from exit wounds, as the...

For Don Cheadle and several of the cast members of “No Sudden Move,” the heist movie’s Tribeca Festival premiere was one of the first in-person events they’ve attended since the pandemic began.
“I’m looking forward to the movie, it’s gonna be a crazy experience,” Cheadle told Variety at the film’s Friday night premiere. “I haven’t been to a theater; I’ve seen one movie in a theater with David Harbour. It was the two of us in a 150-seat theater. We rented out the whole place.”
While filming “No Sudden Move,” the two co-stars went together to see Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending thriller “Tenet,” one of the few big-budget films to release in 2020 during the pandemic. However, they were too busy discussing their own film, a crime thriller set in 1950s Detroit directed by Steven Soderbergh, to follow “Tenet’s” time-twisty plot.

Everyone is having such a blast in “No Sudden Moves” that it’s hard to realize how minimal of an impression it leaves until it’s over. Steven Soderbergh’s lighthearted crime caper offers the kind of fast-and-loose ensemble material that he spins out in his sleep, and with a robust cast on the same wavelength, “No Sudden Move” makes its sense of play infectious.
Set in Detroit circa 1954, “No Sudden Move” was shot during the pandemic and has the speedy quality of a production that doesn’t want to waste any time. It’s so fun to watch the exploits of two-bit criminals Ronald (Benicio Del Toro) and Curt (Don Cheadle) as they attempt to take control of a hired gig on their own terms that, even as the movie devolves into an ineffectual shaggy-dog story shoehorned into a baffling and abrupt real-life backdrop, it remains

In his new film “No Sudden Move,” Don Cheadle plays a gangster set up by his employer and roped into a larger scheme — but he’s not going to just go along for the ride.

Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for “No Sudden Move,” a new star-studded crime thriller from Steven Soderbergh. The trailer is premiering ahead of the film’s Tribeca Film Festival world premiere, occurring on June 18 as the festival’s Centerpiece Gala selection. It will debut at one of the festival’s newly conceived outdoor events, with members of the cast on hand at The Battery, one of the festival’s many outdoor venues. From the looks of this trailer, the gritty mafia thriller is full of plenty of mysterious intrigue and familiar faces — perfectly calibrated to woo New York audiences.

It was quite the welcome surprise to learn that Steven Soderbergh’s crime drama No Sudden Move would be a late addition to the Tribeca Film Festival and an even better surprise that the film would be arriving in just a few weeks, on July 1 on HBO Max. Now, following a character-filled teaser, the first trailer has landed revealing much more of the story.
The 1954-set film, which takes place in Detroit, stars Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Ray Liotta, Jon Hamm, Amy Seimetz, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Culkin, Noah Jupe, Craig muMs Grant, Julia Fox, Frankie Shaw, and Bill Duke.
Scripted by Ed Solomon, the crime drama follows a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them – and for what ultimate purpose – weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn,...

HBO Max has released a new trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film, No Sudden Move, set to premiere July 1st on the streaming service.
Set in Detroit in 1954, the film centers around a character played by Don Cheadle, who is tapped for an ostensibly peripheral role in a plot to steal a seemingly simple document. Cheadle’s character is part of a “baby-sitting team” sent to watch the family of the man tasked with procuring that document, but after the plan spirals out of control, a deeper mystery begins to unfurl.

"The problem is, you're not smart enough to know how not smart you are..." WB + HBO Max have debuted the full-length official trailer for No Sudden Move, the latest Steven Soderbergh film following Let Them All Talk earlier this year. The film is premiering at the upcoming 2021 Tribeca Film Festival before opening (both in theaters + on HBO Max) at the start of July. A group of criminals brought together under mysterious circumstances must quickly figure out how work together to uncover what's really going on when the simple job goes completely sideways. The fantastic Soderbergh ensemble cast features Don Cheadle, Benicio del Toro, David Harbour, with Ray Liotta, Jon Hamm, Amy Seimetz, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Culkin, Noah Jupe, Craig "muMs" Grant, Julia Fox, Frankie Shaw, and Bill Duke. This looks like good ol' vintage crime fun! Might be one of Soderbergh's best in years. I prefer the title cards and vibe of the teaser,...

Matt Damon and Steven Soderbergh are set to reunite once more on the new HBO Max crime thriller ‘No Sudden Move’.
Having previously worked together on the ‘Ocean’s’ trilogy, ‘Behind the Candelabra’ and ‘The Informant,’ Damon’s role here is expected to only be that of a cameo and not a major part.
Set in 1955 Detroit, the story centres on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them – and for what ultimate purpose – weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city.

Exclusive: We hear that Matt Damon will be making an unbilled cameo in Steven Soderbergh’s latest HBO Max crime thriller No Sudden Move.
This reps the ninth time that the Oscar winning Damon has worked with the Oscar winning filmmaker following the Ocean‘s trilogy, Contagion, The Informant, Behind the Candelabra, Unsane and Che Part 2. While Damon is traditionally starring in Soderbergh’s features, it’s not uncommon for him to take on smaller roles which was the case in Unsane and Che Part 2. I hear Damon will be shooting No Sudden Move for two days in Detroit, and he joins the already announced huge ensemble cast that includes Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Amy Seimetz, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Kieran Culkin, Brendan Fraser, Noah Jupe, Bill Duke, Frankie Shaw and Julia Fox.
