On Wednesday, an Arizona grand jury indicted 18 of Donald Trump’s allies for trying to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state.
Boris Epshteyn, a former White House aide who has remained one of Trump’s closest advisers, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows are three of 18 indicted allies. Their names were redacted in documents released, but court officials confirmed that they were included in the group charged.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) announced the indictment Wednesday night. She focused on the 11 people who acted as pro-Trump electors in Arizona.
“A state grand jury made up of everyday regular Arizonans has now handed down felony indictments for all 11 Republican electors as well as several others connected to this scheme,” Mayes stated.

After repeatedly saying Donald Trump is unfit to be president, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) was confronted by ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos about his new support for the former president.
Interviewed on ABC’s This Week, Sununu was questioned for his support of Trump. Sununu previously backed former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley and criticized Trump for contributing to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection. In January, Sununu claimed Trump has “no energy” and can “barely read a teleprompter.”
Trump criticized Sununu far before the New Hampshire governor backed his then-presidential campaign opponent. Now, Sununu says he believes Trump should not drop out of the election race even if he is convicted in his classified documents case.
Stephanopoulos: Just to sum up. You support Trump for president even if he's convicted in the classified documents case. You support him for president even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You...

The campaign of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that a fundraising email labeling the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot defendants as “activists” was a mistake.
These emails, which were sent to Kennedy’s supporters last week, called WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange a “political prisoner” and suggested that he and Capitol rioters were victims of an “outrageous miscarriage of justice.”
“Rarely do opposites attract, especially in Washington,” the email stated. “Yet regarding the case of Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder who is facing extradition to the U.S., both hard-right Marjorie Taylor Greene and hard-left Ilhan Omar Agree: We Must Free Assange Now!”
“The Brits want to make sure our government doesn’t kill Assange,” the letter claimed. “This is the reality that every American Citizen faces – from [Edward] Snowden to Julian Assange to the J6 activists sitting in a Washington D.C. jail cell stripped of their Constitutional liberties.”

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has released a statement clarifying that he can’t actually clarify his stance on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. He hasn’t examined the evidence, many people are telling him many things, both sides have made arguments, and someone should really look into it.
After days of doing damage control over a fundraising email in which his campaign referred to the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 as “J6 activists,” Kennedy released a lengthy statement “to clarify his views” on the attack, but...

In physics, the three-body problem is ugly. When you have one or two objects exerting gravity on a body, it moves in a predictable pattern. Add a third and its chaos.
In 2024, the three-body problem in media is that every piece of art has a creator, a consumer and politics. So when Netflix’s sci-fi series 3 Body Problem debuted on March 21, anti-woke crusaders such as VCs Marc Andreessen and Andrew Chen only made it one scene in before posting that it was a cri de coeur to end the far-left agenda. Two days after the show dropped, Chen, a Vc at a16z, posted on X, “The opening scene just punches you in the face. Irl cancel culture driven by high school and college students. Scoop is a dramatized feature about the BBC’s Newsnight team scoring a sensationally revealing 2019 interview with Prince Andrew about his relationship with millionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. For a film about a journalistic exclusive, it has the most generic title possible. There are already at least four other movies out there called Scoop, including a rubbishy 2006 Woody Allen film and a 1987 adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s peerless 1938 satirical novel, a twofer satire of both the press and the British aristocracy.
Sadly, this latest Scoop has none of Waugh’s acid wit or alkaline intelligence. Although serviceable as a retread of the events that led up to the royal interview conducted by Newsnight anchor Emily Maitlis (impersonated here by Gillian Anderson), an interview recreated for big chunks of the running time, it doesn’t significantly deepen or enrich our understanding of the personalities involved — let alone journalism, privilege, sexual exploitation or the price of fish.

A California Bar Court Judge Yvette Roland ruled that conservative attorney John Eastman, one of the co-conspirators in former President Donald Trump‘s plan to overturn the 2020 election, should be disbarred.
Eastman testified before the State Bar of California in June 2023 in a proceeding aimed to strip him of his license to practice law in the state.
He was one of Trump’s lawyers in 2020 and played a large role in helping him try to overturn the results of that year’s election, which the former president falsely claims was “stolen” by Joe Biden and Democratic officials.
He also devised a plan involving former Vice President Mike Pence invalidating the 2020 results during a joint session of Congress which had convened to count the electoral votes.

NBC News has cut ties with former RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, just days after she was announced as a paid analyst for the network. There had been a growing internal backlash at the division over her hire.
Meanwhile, CAA also has dropped McDaniel as a client, sources familiar with the situation tell Deadline.
A source also confirmed reports that McDaniel was seeking potential legal options for her next steps.
NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde made the announcement about McDaniel’s exit in an memo to staffers (see it in full below). In his missive, Conde took responsibility for what happened, but it was unclear whether there will be further repercussions.
“No organization, particularly a newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned. Over the last few days, it has become clear that this appointment undermines that goal,” Conde wrote in the memo.

The NBC News career of Ronna McDaniel, the former head of the Republican National Committee, has been ended before it had ever truly begun.
NBC News said Tuesday that it would cut ties with McDaniel after a phalanx of popular anchors rebelled against a decision to make her a political contributor who would offer commentary through the 2024 presidential election. NBC News executives had hoped to gain new insight to the thinking of the modern Republican party, but NBC News journalists could not stomach the prospect of putting McDaniel on air after she had helped former President Donald Trump in his efforts to undermine the integrity of the 2020 election, which was won by current officeholder Joe Biden.

Donald Trump Jr. pressed his father, former President Donald Trump, to select a “strong “fighter” as his running mate.
In an interview with the New York Post, Trump Jr. highlighted the importance of choosing the right vice president, wanting someone who can take a punch and hit back harder.
“What I want in that role is, I want a fighter,” stated Trump Jr., “I understand what they are going to throw at us.”
“In 2016, you needed someone to balance out [the ticket] — that’s where Mike Pence made sense, sort of the yin and yang, but [given] the vicious nature of the swamp and the insanity we see on a daily basis, you need someone who can take those hits,” he continued.
Trump Jr. reveals that he’s been pushing people such as Vivek Ramaswamy, a former GOP candidate, and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to be Trump’s running mate. Trump Jr.

Ronna McDaniel, the former chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, is joining NBC News as a political analyst.
McDaniel will start in her role on Sunday with an appearance on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker. She will sit for an interview, her first since stepping down last month. The network said that the conversations to secure the interview started months before McDaniel was hired as a contributor.
McDaniel will appear on NBC News and MSNBC, and will be part of the network’s campaign and election night programming. That also will include appearances on NBC News Now.
McDaniel, the second woman to serve as RNC chair, was a steadfast defender of former President Donald Trump. About a year after the attacks on the Capitol, she presided over an RNC resolution to censure Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their work as members of a House committee investigating the siege.

Former President Donald Trump was criticized by his own former vice president, Mike Pence, for saluting prisoners who participated in the January 6 Capitol riot and calling them “hostages” during the introduction of his Dayton, Ohio campaign rally.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please rise for the horribly and unfairly treated January 6th hostages,” the moderator of the rally on March 16 stated over the loudspeaker.
Trump raised his right hand and saluted as the “January 6 Choir” sang the “Star Spangled Banner.” The choir is composed of Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and others imprisoned for helping to advance the failed insurrection.
The rally started with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by January 6 defendants serving time in the Washington, D.C., jail.
“You see the spirit from the hostages, and that’s what they are: hostages,” Trump claimed at the rally. “They’ve been treated terribly and very unfairly. And you know that and everybody knows that.

Former President Donald Trump said the United States will face a “bloodbath” if President Joe Biden wins the election.
On Saturday, Trump told a rally near Dayton, Ohio, “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath. That’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.”
The statement came while Trump spoke about the automobile industry, saying he would not allow China to sell imported vehicles in the U.S. if reelected. Attendees were unsure of what Trump meant by “bloodbath.”
Many critics of Trump’s calls for violence on January 6, 2021.
James Singer, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign, responded to Trump’s remarks: “This is who Donald Trump is: a loser who gets beat by over seven million votes and then instead of appealing to a wider mainstream audience doubles down on his threats of political violence.

The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that frozen embryos are “children” under state law and therefore subject to legislation dealing with the wrongful death of a minor.
The court issued a majority decision in a lawsuit brought by a group of in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients whose frozen embryos were destroyed in December 2020. A patient at the Center for Reproductive Medicine removed the embryos from the storage unit and dropped them on the ground.
In response to the ruling, major Alabama hospitals stopped offering IVF treatments on Wednesday, fearing criminal prosecution.

Three lawyers who assisted Trump lawyer Sidney Powell‘s campaign in mounting legal challenges to the 2020 election results have been charged by bar investigators in Washington, D.C. They have been accused of violating disciplinary policies and are facing disciplinary charges.
The attorneys, Juli Haller, Lawrence Joseph and Brandon Johnson, are accused of knowingly making false representations to courts about a series of lawsuits filed in the weeks following the 2020 election. These filings became public in January.

Donald Trump wants to implement a 16-week national abortion ban, The New York Times reported on Friday.
The former president has largely avoided taking on reproductive rights during the Republican primary, although he has at times made a point to take credit for the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. The decision has been blamed for the GOP’s lackluster showing in the 2022 midterm elections, and Rolling Stone reported last year that Trump has privately griped that the party is “getting killed on abortion.”

Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake recently headlined a campaign fundraiser hosted by Caryn Borland and Michael Borland, two supporters of the far-right political conspiracy theory QAnon.
On February 2, Lake attended this fundraiser with Caryn and Michael, which was held at their mansion in Prescott, Arizona.
Lake has been a supporter of Donald Trump‘s third presidential bid. She campaigned for him in Iowa before the caucuses took place. Some pundits even saw her as a potential vice president choice for Trump.
She launched her Arizona Senate bid in October 2023 but ended the year with a relatively small amount of money in the bank.
Lake raised $2 million in the roughly 11 weeks after having entered the race, but she immediately spent almost half that amount, meaning that she started 2024 with a little more than $1 million in the bank, as well as $308,000 in debt.

In an interview with CNN on Thursday evening, Stefanik stated, “I would not have done what Mike Pence did. I don’t think that was the right approach.”
However, Stefanik did not provide any specific details about what she would have done differently. When questioned about whether she would be comfortable with Vice President Kamala Harris rejecting state votes in the event of Trump’s reelection, Stefanik changed the subject and did not directly address the question.
Stefanik’s remarks came about a month after she declined to commit to certifying the results of the 2024 presidential election and stated that she would only do so if they were deemed “constitutional.” She voiced concerns about what she perceived as unconstitutional actions in the 2020 election,...

Elise Stefanik, who many view as a top contender to be Donald Trump’s 2024 pick as vice president, says she would not have certified Joe Biden’s election if she, not Mike Pence, were VP at the time.
“I would not have done what Mike Pence did,” the GOP conference chair told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Thursday night when asked what she would have done as vice president on Jan. 6, 2021, when thousands of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol as Pence was presiding over the certification of the Electoral College votes.

Former Vice President Mike Pence said during a pro-life summit that he wants the abortion pill, known as Mifepristone, to be taken off the market immediately.
Pence appeared at the Students for Life of America (Sfla) National Pro-Life Summit this month.
He sat down for a Q&a with Sfla President Kristan Hawkins at the beginning of the event.
Pence was asked what a pro-life president should initially do if elected in 2024.
“I think that our new president should direct the new attorney general to suspend all efforts to harass pro-life activists in America,” Pence said. “And frankly I think they should pull the abortion pill off the market.”
“I believe those are two urgent causes and I think we have to step forward and make that happen on day one,” Pence said.

Peter Navarro — the former Trump adviser who has bragged openly about working to overturn the results of the 2020 election — was sentenced to four months in prison on Thursday for contempt of Congress after he defied a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 Committee.
The sentence, handed down by Judge Amit Mehta, is the same one that was given to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress in 2022. Mehta also fined Navarro $9,500.

Media-wise, the 2024 presidential election crosses the official starting line with debate season, and this cycle the contenders on the Republican side, including a multiple-indicted former Potus, are looking to beat Democrat Joe Biden and take over the White House. But first they have to take on one another.
For the candidates, debates are a way to score points against a rival, stand out from the field or define a campaign that’s heretofore been rudderless.

Front-runner Trump has opted out of all the debates so far. In August, he instead decided to hold forth with Tucker Carlson in a more friendly pre-taped interview. That debate drew 12.8 million viewers on Fox News. The company is releasing Verify on an open-source basis, in the hopes that others sign on to the blockchain-based content verification system.
On Tuesday, Fox publicly released a beta version of the first Verify application, the Verify Tool, a web-based solution that lets consumers authenticate images and article links they find online purporting to be from Fox sources. The prosecutors participating in the 2020 Fulton County, Georgia, election fraud case indicated that they are searching for ways to sentence Donald Trump and the other co-defendants in the case to prison.
One email, in a batch newly released under Georgia’s public records law, contains an exchange between the former president’s defense lawyers and prosecutors showing that District Attorney of Fulton County Fani Willis suggested that the attorneys had a lengthy road ahead of them.
Willis said, “Long after these folks are in jail, we will still be practicing law.”
Another exchange between the defense lawyers and Willis showed Trump attorney Steve Sadow sharing that he was upset about an unfinished Rudy Giuliani transcript.
The attorney had a problem with the language utilized by the defense and stated that Trump’s team would be given the entire transcript in the next production of discovery.

Donald Trump claimed that he was merely doing his “duty” as president by alleging that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen,” therefore believes he deserves “immunity” from prosecution.
“I wasn’t campaigning, the Election was over. I was doing my duty as President to expose and further investigate a Rigged and Stolen Election. It was my obligation to do so, and the proof found is voluminous and irrefutable,” the former president wrote in a Truth Social post Sunday morning. “Therefore, among other reasons, of course I am entitled to Immunity.

There is evidence that former President Donald Trump exerted pressure on Michigan canvassers to prevent the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
As reported by the Detroit News, the phone call recordings reviewed reveal that Trump personally urged Monica Palmer and William Hartmann, both Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers, not to sign the certification documents. The call took place shortly after a meeting of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers on November 17, 2020.
In the call, Trump emphasized the need to “fight for our country” and urged Palmer and Hartmann not to let others “take our country away” from them. He warned them that if they signed the certification documents it would reflect poorly on them. As a result of this pressure, Palmer and Hartmann did not sign the official statement of votes for Wayne County on that night. They later attempted to rescind their votes in favor of certification,...

Donald Trump can still be restricted in what he says witnesses as well as lawyers and court staff, and their families, in his federal election conspiracy case, an appellate court ruled on Friday.
The three-judge panel largely upheld Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order in the proceedings, with the exception that the restrictions do not apply to Special Counsel Jack Smith, a frequent Trump target who he has labeled “deranged.”
The judges also set parameters for the type of restrictions on Trump’s comments about attorneys and court staffers, writing that it applied in cases where his statements “are made with the intent to materially interfere with, or to cause others to materially interfere with, counsel’s or staff’s work in this criminal case, or with the knowledge that such interference is highly likely to result.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson revealed that House Republicans have intentionally blurred footage from the Capitol attack before the public release to prevent the January 6 rioters from criminal charges.
Johnson explained that they need to blur the faces of individuals involved in the events of that day to protect them from retaliation and potential charges by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Johnson himself was deeply involved in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election based on false claims of widespread election fraud. He emphasized the importance of individuals conducting their own research into the Capitol attack rather than relying solely on the narrative presented by the January 6 Committee.
According to Johnson, the footage was released to provide the American people with an opportunity to draw their own conclusions about the events that transpired on January 6.

Georgia prosecutors have added former Vice President Mike Pence to the list of witnesses who could be called to testify in Donald Trump’s upcoming election interference Rico trial, according to a report from CNN.
More than 150 individuals, including Pence, have reportedly been included in the Fulton County witness list, which remains under seal.
While Pence was compelled by Special Counsel Jack Smith to testify before a grand jury in the Justice Department’s federal election interference case against Trump, the former vice president has so far skirted significant involvement in the Fulton County case.

Former Vice President Mike Pence reportedly considered former President Donald Trump‘s advice to skip the electoral certification of the presidential election, which he presided over in January 2021 and certified the 2020 election.
In February, Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office issued a subpoena to Pence, which prompted the former vice president to participate in interviews where he revealed information from handwritten notes he had taken.
In Pence’s notes taken in December 2020, before the January 6 Capitol riot, he had written, “Not feeling like I should attend electoral count,” because of “too many questions, too many doubts.” He wrote it would be “too hurtful to my friend. Therefore I’m not going to participate in certification of election.”
On Christmas Eve of 2020, Pence made a notation that suggested he would step aside and allow the Senate’s President Pro Tempore, Trump loyalist Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), to assume his position for the electoral certification process.

In the little bit of actual campaigning Donald Trump has been able to do in between his many scheduled court appearances, he has made one thing clear: If reelected, he will use his control over federal agencies to get back at people he believes have wronged him. When NBC News broadcasts the third Republican debate from Miami on Wednesday, it will be a slimmed-down field.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Un ambassador Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott (R-dc) made the cut.
The Republican National Committee increased the criteria for participation, with candidates needing at least 70,000 campaign donors and 4% support in at least two national polls, or one national poll or two early state polls.
Candidates also need to have signed a loyalty pledge to support the eventual nominee, something that has kept frontrunner Donald Trump from qualifying. But the former president has indicated that he plans to skip all of the debates, and is counter-programming this week’s debate with a rally in south Florida.
NBC News is hosting the debate from the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, set to air from 8-10 p.

Even after former Vice President Mike Pence dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, there remains eight candidates running for the Republican party. And for Roy Wood Jr., that’s way too many. So, he has some advice for the GOP — use Marvel’s rollout strategy.
The former “Daily Show” correspondent stopped by “The View” on Tuesday to celebrate Halloween, and joked that both Congress and the White House could be considered Haunted Houses at this point. But, when asked about the current presidential landscape, he got a bit more serious (but only a bit).
“It’s too many people running,” he told Alyssa Farah Griffin bluntly. “We got to stop, in America, we got to stop lettin’ everybody think they got a chance. You ain’t got a chance.”

Mike Pence may have officially dropped out of the 2024 Presidential race, but “The Daily Show” guest host Charlamagne tha God sees his announcement a little differently.
“It’s like turning down sex when you have erectile dysfunction. The choice was made for you already, my guy,” Charlamagne tha God said Monday night.
The comedian also quipped that Pence dropped out “to spend more time in a separate bedroom from his wife” and asked “Is it really ending your campaign when your campaign never got off the ground to begin with?”
But as his opening monologue continued, the comedian admitted that he feels bad for Pence. Charlamagne tha God explained that his chance to become President was over the second he decided to “do the right thing and not overturn the election.”
“He had to get the same people who wanted to hang him to hire him,” Charlamagne tha God said.
