A morality play whose lesson will be unneeded by most if not all viewers, Gary Entin's Sins of Our Youth argues that playing with automatic weapons in the back yard is a bad idea — especially when it's dark, and you and your friends have spent all night drinking. On the off-chance you should find yourself in this situation and must deal with the likely result, try not to latch on to the most stupid idea floated as to how to avoid going to jail. Though the film works hard to squeeze credible tension out of its teen protagonists' predicament, moviegoers...

In an age of mass shootings when the debate over gun control rages on, some recent films, such as Jessica Chastain’s new film “Miss Sloane” tackle the subject head on. Another new film “Sins of Our Youth” also explores this topic, capturing the intersection of gun culture and foolish adolescence. The film follows four teenagers who accidentally murder a younger boy while shooting off assault weapons recreationally, and the perilous decisions they make in the aftermath of the murder. In a moment of desperation and fear, the four teenagers drunkenly construct a plan reminiscent of a video-game plot, but it’s only a catalyst for more confusion and pain. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

High school is hard enough even if you don’t have any secrets. So when brainy Russell (Cameron Deane Stewart: Pitch Perfect) and star football player Kevin (Justin Deeley: Couples Retreat) — both of them just as adorable as is possible — are accidentally discovered in their first kiss by their classmate Min (Ally Maki: Step Up 3D), they’re mortified. And when she leaves notes in their lockers telling them to come to a classroom after school, they’re terrified: Is she going to blackmail them? When Russell Middlebrook (Cameron Deane Stewart), a shy high school sophomore, and Kevin (Justin Deeley), king of the jocks, share their first kiss, it's true love. (Isn't it always?)
What follows isn't likely to surprise, but this adaptation of Brent Hartinger's popular young adult novel (the first in a series) handles serious issues with a light touch, and should resonate with adolescents.
Russell freaks when Min (Ally Maki), who witnessed the kiss, invites him to join her in an unofficial, three-member gay students club, but he gradually warms to the idea.

Gun control is a hot button issue in this country, and it.ll probably be that way for the next hundred years without a clear resolution. And while I.m glad Hollywood has for the most part been keeping a wide berth around films that center on school shootings, the upcoming teen drama Sins of Our Youth is bound to get people uncomfortable in one way or another. Deadline reports it already has a full cast, including Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class), Joel Courtney (Super 8), and former Brat Packer Ally Sheedy, and will begin filming soon. So we.ll know sooner rather than later just what kind of reaction the film will get. Sins of Our Youth will be directed by Gary Entin, based on a screenplay written by his twin brother Edmund Entin. The sequel to The Avengers will be titled Avengers: Age of Ultron, centering around the robotic villain from the comics. This led to questions about Hank Pym of course, which Joss Whedon addressed. “We don’t have to have him. It works very simply — this is Marvel cinema, not Marvel comics. One thing Kevin Feige has a genius for is knowing what to hold onto and what to let go of. You can invoke the feeling you had and play with the characters you love and remain true to the needs of the film.”
The Marvel panel also showed insane footage from Guardians of the Galaxy, which only began shooting a couple of weeks ago. Intriguing film starts out promisingly enough with a disturbing set piece, but as the film progresses, the film places too much emphasis on the detective character (played by Orlando Jones) who does nothing to enhance the story. As a result of this, it takes away from the screen time of the Entin twins who turn in pitch perfect performances. Finally!! After Dark Films has finally unleashed a trailer that showcases all 8 of their horror films in the After Dark Originals lineup.
After Dark Films made an unprecedented commitment to the production of eight original horror films this year under the After Dark Originals label, continuing the Company’s mantra of supporting first time independent film writers and directors. The creation of the Ad Originals(http://www.afterdarkoriginals.com/) slate is just another example of the Company’s commitment to the Indie film industry.
Unlike After Dark’s “8 Films To Die For®”, After Dark Originals are wholly financed and produced by After Dark Films. The Ado slate runs the gamut of the genre, from paranormal phenomena, black magic, and vengeful ghosts to psychological trauma, murderous psychopaths, vampires and the undead. After Dark polled its fans and is delivering the kinds of movies they asked for!

After Dark Films has announced support for director Antonio Negret's ("Towards Darkness") film, Seconds Apart. This is murder mystery styled film, where two quiet twins seem to be behind their peers' misfortunate ends. This film, along with all the After Dark Originals, will be released January, 2011. The release will be co-partnered by Lionsgate Exclusive.
Also newsworthy is the first still from Seconds Apart, seen left. The picture shows a devilish, blood stained hand reaching for a passerby. However, this is no handshake, but something more sinister. More details on this latest acquisition are below.
The film's synopsis is here:

I've spent a lot of time telling you all about the different aspects of Severin Films' home video catalog and even their theatrical releases. You would think that would be all, perhaps they'd found their niche and they'd be glad to hang out in their comfort zone, but you'd be wrong. Having admirably tackled EuroSleaze, horror, the eternal works of D'amato, Borowczyk, and Franco, and dipped their toes into feature film distribution and production, you'd think they would be satisfied. However, Severin Films has so much more to offer, their future is bright, and I predict that at least a couple of their upcoming releases will blow the minds of home viewers in the coming years.
I never got around to talking about one of Severin's best complete packages, the two disc special edition of Ozploitation biker classic, Stone. A good five years before Mel Gibson hit the wide...

Gregory Smith and Christopher Eccleston have joined the cast of The Dark Is Rising, 20th Century Fox and Walden Media's adaptation of Susan Cooper's best-selling books. Marc Platt and Ron Schmidt are producing the picture, which is being helmed by David L. Cunningham.
