Image
The “Nurse Jackie” sequel series is now in development at Amazon Prime Video with original star Edie Falco set to return, Variety has learned exclusively.

It was first reported in 2023 that a “Nurse Jackie” followup was in the works at Showtime from Lionsgate Television, but the project has now moved to Amazon.

The official logline states, “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Teases MCU Return for Eternals Star Harry Styles
Image
Kevin Feige hints at the return of Harry Styles to the MCU as Starfox/Eros, with both sides waiting for the right time. Feige discusses the possibility of Eros and Pip appearing again, suggesting they could introduce other supernatural characters like Ghost Rider. Patton Oswalt has not heard any news about a Pip and Eros return, but expresses excitement and willingness to join forces with Styles for a potential Eros and Pip movie.

Marvel's Kevin Feige recently teased the return of Harry Styles to the MCU following his post-credits cameo appearance as Starfox/Eros in Eternals. Marvel fans got an unexpected surprise back in 2021 when Styles made his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a post-credits cameo as Eros, aka Starfox. Since then, there has been very little info about the future of the Eternals franchise, and whether or not Styles' character will make any more appearances. However,...

Victoria Alonso Clashed With Marvel Over Blurring Gay Pride References in ‘Ant-Man 3’ for Kuwait (Exclusive)
Image
The intrigue over Victoria Alonso’s abrupt exit from Marvel continues.

On March 24, THR exclusively reported that Disney fired Alonso for breach of contract, due to her work on the Oscar-nominated feature Argentina, 1985, which was made by Amazon. Last week, Disney indicated the dismissal was due to “an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy.”

Alonso, through attorney Patty Glaser, pushed back at this explanation for the firing, saying in a statement at the time, “Victoria, a gay Latina who had the courage to criticize Disney, was silenced. Then she was terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible.”

Some insiders at Disney believe the “reprehensible” act referenced by Glaser was a request to censor gay Pride references in the latest Ant-Man movie for the Kuwait market, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

In January, as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was being readied for release,...

GLAAD Awards: ‘Eternals,’ ‘Hacks,’ ‘Saved by the Bell’ Take Top Honors
Image
Though embattled by a staff and talent revolt over its stance on incendiary policies toward trans youth, the Walt Disney Company pulled off a significant win at the 2022 GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday.

The entertainment giant’s Marvel Studios division won the media watchdog’s prize for outstanding wide release film, for Chloé Zhao’s “Eternals.” As the first Disney superhero tale to feature a same sex couple — in “Atlanta” star Bryan Tyree Henry and Haaz Sleiman — the tentpole film was widely praised for its depiction of loving queer parents.

In the television space, Peacock’s unexpected comedy gem “Saved by the Bell,” a reboot of the ”90s classic, took outstanding comedy series. “Hacks,” an LGBTQ jewel box from HBO Max, took outstanding new TV series. In the unscripted space, two beloved shows pulled off a tie for outstanding reality program: the stalwart “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” alongside “We’re Here,” the...

‘Batgirl’ Officially Casts Ivory Aquino as First Trans Character in a DC Comics Feature Film
Image
Barbara Gordon has officially found her roommate.

Ivory Aquino has been cast in the HBO Max feature film “Batgirl” as Alysia Yeoh, the best friend of the titular superhero, a.k.a. Barbara Gordon (Leslie Grace).

Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender, marking the first time a live-action feature film adaptation of a DC Comics title will feature an openly trans character. Yeoh first appeared in a 2011 issue of “Batgirl” written by Gail Simone and penciled by Ardian Syaf.

News of Aquino’s casting first leaked online in mid-January after Grace posted a photo seemingly from the set of the film to her Instagram story, tagging Aquino and captioning the shot (of two women crossing the street) with “Barbara and Alysia...

‘West Side Story’ Banned in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar
Image
Some audiences in the Middle East won’t get to experience the epic love story between Maria and Tony.

Disney and 20th Century’s “West Side Story,” director Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the classic musical, has been banned in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. In some cases, like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the film wasn’t granted a release certificate. In other countries, such as Qatar and Oman, Disney refused to comply with cuts requested by censors.

The move isn’t entirely surprising because Middle Eastern countries have strict censorship mandates regarding sexuality, swearing, and other aspects that don’t comply with the nation’s cultural views. “West Side Story” isn’t profane, but it’s understood that censors weren’t on board with Anybodys, a character who is transgender and portrayed by non-binary actor Iris Menas. Films with LGBTQ references have been...

Could ‘Eternals’ Move the Needle in the Middle East By Putting an Openly Gay Character on Screen?
Image
When “Eternals,” the first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring a gay superhero, rolls out in the Arab world on Thursday, the Disney-distributed blockbuster will, unsurprisingly, skip releases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, mainly due to its LGBTQ+ content.

But the star-studded superhero pic will still screen for audiences in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Ethiopia, Palestine, Syria and Turkey. This, in itself, is something of a breakthrough for the region: Excising the same-sex kiss between gay superhero Phastos (played by Brian Tyree Henry) and his husband Ben (Haaz Sleiman), doesn’t remove the fact that the “Eternals” version being screened in movie theaters in a large swathe of the Middle East will still feature the two men, who are married with a child.

Disney, which has declined to comment, is understood to have been unwilling to accommodate requests for different cuts made...

‘Eternals’: Even with the MCU’s First Real Love Scene, This Franchise Remains Mostly Sexless
Image
[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for “Eternals.”]

At the heart of Chloé Zhao’s “Eternals,” there is an epic-sized love story, the kind that both spans time (actual millennia) and place. But it eventually results in a rote examination of romance, and yes, sex. Much of the action of “Eternals” — another Marvel entry that threatens no less than the fabric of the entire universe; at some point, the stakes were raised so damn high that they can seemingly never go back down — ostensibly hinges on the fractured relationship of Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Ikaris (Richard Madden). But the pair’s ill-fated bond isn’t rich enough to hold up such weighty narrative.

Marvel movies aren’t always romance-less. Across nearly 30 films, the franchise has found the time to depict love stories involving Captain America and Peggy Carter, Iron Man and Pepper Potts, Spider-Man and Mj, Thor and Dr. Jane Foster, Star-Lord and Gamora, and (to a...

‘Eternals’ Actor Haaz Sleiman on Being Arab and Openly Gay in the MCU, the Film’s ‘Ignorant’ Ban in Middle Eastern Countries (Exclusive)
Image
Haaz Sleiman says he was close to tears when he learned of Disney’s response to “Eternals” being banned in several Middle Eastern countries because of the MCU film’s LGBTQ+ content.

“They stood their ground and said, ‘Nope, we are not going to compromise the integrity of our film,’” Sleiman told me Friday afternoon. “It made these Arab countries looks so ignorant and pathetic.”

Variety confirmed Thursday that the film has been banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar ahead of its release across the Gulf region on Nov. 11. Movies containing LGBTQ+ content are often cut to appease international censors around the world, but Disney refused to alter “Eternals.”

“I have no respect for those governments,” Sleiman said. “They have displayed to the world that they are not only a disgrace to humanity, but to God. Hopefully this will inspire the Saudi people, the Kuwaiti people and the people in Qatar to fight back.

Angelina Jolie Calls Those Threatened By ‘Eternals’ Same-Sex Relationship “Ignorant”
Image
Deadline reported yesterday that Marvel’s latest juggernaut, The Eternals, will not be shown in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. The film — which contains the MCUs first same-sex kiss — was due to open in those markets on November 11, but censors sought further cuts beyond any scenes of same-sex intimacy. Disney opted not to make the edits, hence distribution certificates weren’t issued.

In the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, Deadline reported that a version of The Eternals will be released that removes all scenes of intimacy — be they heterosexual or homosexual. This is generally a normal practice for those markets.

Asked by Australian outlet news.com.au about concerns in those countries over the film’s same-sex marriage between Phastos and Haaz Sleiman, Angelina Jolie — who plays the immortal Thena in the film — called such fears “ignorant.”

“I still don’t understand how we live in...

Angelina Jolie Slams ‘Eternals’ Ban: Anyone Threatened or Angry by Gay Roles Is ‘Ignorant’
Image
Angelina Jolie is speaking out against countries banning her Marvel Cinematic Universe tentpole “Eternals” because it includes the franchise’s first openly gay superhero (and a gay kiss to go along with it). News broke the day before the “Eternals” U.S. opening that Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar had banned the film reportedly due to its gay content. Homosexuality is still illegal across the Gulf. Even just a one-line reference to a lesbian relationship got Pixar’s “Onward” banned from Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia last year.

“I’m sad for [those audiences]. And I’m proud of Marvel for refusing to cut those scenes out,” Jolie told Australia’s News.com about the ban. “I still don’t understand how we live in a world today where there’s still [people who] would not see the family Phastos has and the beauty of that relationship and that love. How anybody is angry about it,...

Eternals International Theatrical Ban Is Ignorant, Says Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie says the international theatrical ban on Eternals in some countries is "ignorant." After various delays due to Covid-19 pandemic, the third film in the McU's Phase 4 is now finally playing in theaters. Eternals not only introduces a ton of new superheroes to the MCU portrayed by a uniquely diverse cast, but it also makes significant strides in terms of representation. The film features the McU's first openly gay superhero in Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) along with Lauren Ridloff as the franchise's first deaf hero, Makkari.

Since its world premiere in Los Angeles last month, Eternals has proven to be perhaps the McU's most divisive film yet. While critics have been universally praising its diversity, many are split on the film itself, resulting in the first MCU movie ever to be rotten on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, with Eternals' score currently hovering around 50%. While ticket sales indicate...

How ‘Eternals’ Brought Sex to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: ‘It’s Very Tasteful’
Image
Spoiler Warning: This story discusses details of a single scene in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” which opens in theaters on Friday.

“Eternals” marks several milestones for Marvel Studios. It’s the first title in the MCU to be directed by an Oscar winner and a woman of color, Chloé Zhao. It’s the first feature film for the studio with title superheroes who are South Asian (Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo), Latina (Salma Hayek’s Ajak), deaf (Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari) and LGBTQ (Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos). It’s the first to feature a same-sex kiss, between Phastos and his husband, Ben (Haaz Sleiman).

And it’s the first Marvel Studios movie to feature two characters having sex on screen.

When the latter was pointed out to Zhao in an interview in late October, the director broke into a wide grin. “We win!” she said.

While “Eternals” is an ensemble film,...

The Marvel adventure has been pulled from Gulf region markets after sources claim the studio refused to remove a same-sex kiss

Marvel’s latest big-budget adventure Eternals has been pulled from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait after Disney reportedly refused to cut a same-sex kiss.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the $200m movie will not be released in the Gulf region countries after being removed from local sites. The studio has yet to comment or confirm but sources claim that the reason is a kiss between Brian Tyree Henry’s character and his on-screen husband, played by Haaz Sleiman. It marks the first gay kiss in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

‘Eternals’ Banned in Saudi Arabia and More After Disney Refuses to Censor Gay Roles — Report
Image
Chloé Zhao’s Marvel tentpole “Eternals” has received an apparent ban in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter: “The all-star superhero film, which was due for release across the Gulf region on November 11, is understood to have been met with a series of edit requests by the local censors, edits that THR has heard Disney were not willing to make. The news emerged on Thursday, with ‘Eternals’ having been quietly been removed from websites in each of those countries. In the United Arab Emirates, however, the film is still listed as among the titles coming soon.”

A regional cinema chain in the Gulf told THR that “Eternals” was “banned” from being released, but the reason why had not yet been disclosed. Sources said the film’s inclusion of an openly gay superhero is the reason for the apparent ban. Brian Tyree Henry’s character,...

‘Eternals’ Stars Talk Angelina Jolie’s Halloween Party and On-Set Christmas Shopping
Image
Kumail Nanjiani did something most people would never think of — he turned down a party invitation from Angelina Jolie.

And not just any party.

Jolie hosted a Halloween bash while they were filming “Eternals” in the Canary Islands. “I did get an invite but I actually didn’t go because we were shooting on location and I finished a couple of days before them, and [my wife] Emily [V. Gordon] was back in London so I decided to fly back and be with her instead of going to this amazing costume party,” Nanjiani explains.

Ahead of the film’s release, the “Eternals” stars who did go to the party shared some details with Variety.

“It was a pre-covid celebration,” Lia McHugh said. “It was really fun.”

Gemma Chan went as Uma Thurman’s Pulp Fiction character and Richard Madden dressed as a skeleton. “I was dressed as an angel,” McHugh said.

How ‘Eternals’ Establishes the MCU’s First Gay Superhero and Same-Sex Couple in a Movie: ‘It’s Life-Saving’
Image
Spoiler Warning: This story discusses a single scene in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” which opens in theaters on Nov. 5.

At the world premiere for Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” on Oct. 18, Haaz Sleiman was beaming. The 45-year-old actor, who came out as gay in 2017, could scarcely believe he was on the red carpet for a massive studio movie in which his character, Ben, is the husband of one of the title superheroes, Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry).

It marks the first time a Marvel Studios film has showcased a same-sex couple — and one of the only times any superhero movie has included a title LGBTQ character. In a pop-culture landscape that has been dominated worldwide by superhero storytelling for over a decade, the impact that representation could have for the film’s expected global audience was very much on Sleiman’s mind.

“Beyond a dream come true, it’s life-saving,” the actor told Variety.

‘Eternals’ Director Chloé Zhao Explains How She Got Superman in the MCU
Image
Spoiler Warning: This article discusses brief references in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” that, while in no way related to the plot of the film that opens on Nov. 5, could be considered spoilers.

A throwaway pop-culture reference in a Marvel Studios movie is usually as common as a form-fitting unitard. But when Disney released a featurette last week for Chloé Zhao’s “Eternals,” in which a child refers to the Eternal named Ikaris (Richard Madden) as “Superman,” the moment was enough to launch dozens of deep-dive reaction videos and head–spinning tweets wondering “What does this all mean?!”

In the scene in question, Ikaris and Sersi (Gemma Chan) are at the home of Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), a fellow Eternal who has started a family with his human husband, Ben (Haaz Sleiman), and their child, Jack (Esai Daniel Cross), who saw Ikaris fighting an evil Deviant on TV.

Marvel Studios Planning Halloween Special Starring Latino Actor For Disney Plus
Image
Marvel Studios is searching for a Latino actor to lead an untitled Halloween special for Disney Plus, Variety has confirmed.

The special could be based on “Werewolf by Night,” which would denote two separate characters in the Marvel comic book universe. The first, Jack Russell, debuted in the comic “Marvel Spotlight #2” in February 1972. Russell has a family history of lycanthropy — or the supernatural transformation of a human into a wolf — but uses his power for good, and is able to remain aware of his transformations.

The second character, Jake Gomez, was introduced into the Marvel universe last year in the comic “Werewolf by Night (Vol. 3) #1.” Created by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, Scot Eaton and Benjamin Jackendoff, Gomez is described to be a descendant of the Native American tribe Hopi who has been cursed with lycanthropy, also through his lineage.

Though it is unconfirmed if the character will be based on “Werewolf by Night,...

On ‘Loki,’ the Marvel Cinematic Universe Finally Gets Its First Major Queer Character — But Should We Be Celebrating?
Image
Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you haven’t seen Season 1, Episode 3 of “Loki,” streaming now on Disney Plus.

Marvel Studios has its first official Lgbtqia+ superhero — or, depending on your point of view, supervillain.

On the latest episode of the Disney Plus series “Loki,” Tom Hiddleston’s titular god of mischief confirms what had been long established in the pages of Marvel comics, that he is bisexual.

It happens during a conversation Loki has with a Loki “variant” named Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), who revealed herself at the end of last week’s episode just as she launched her grand scheme to wreak havoc on the Time Variance Authority. As they sit on a train waiting to arrive at a critical destination, the discussion turns to love. Sylvie says she’s been in “a serious, long-distance relationship with a postman” while she skitters through time and across apocalypses to avoid detection by the Tva.

Scatena & Rosner Films is handling international sales for the feature, kicking things off at the Cannes Film Market.

Described as being like Rob Reiner’s “‘Misery’ on steroids,” the film focuses on the relationship between an obsessive personal trainer and his client, and the extremes they are pushed to. It centers around Claude (Sleiman), an American expat who has used his privilege to sexually manipulate men, and has relocated to Serbia during the pandemic to avoid looming legal troubles following the accidental death of a man he spent an evening with. Claude moves into the estate of his mother Gwen (Ardant), a half-Serb, half-French retired entrepreneur with powerful connections.

Although committed to her son’s well-being,...

Podtalk: Rula Gardenier of ‘Breaking Fast,’ Available Thru Video-On-Demand, Jan. 22, 2021
Image
Chicago – After a successful festival run, the film “Breaking Fast” – a heartwarming gay romantic comedy – was released through Video-On-Demand on January 22nd, 2021. One of the key screenings previously was at Reeling, the international Chicago LGBTQ+ film fest, and during that time an actor from Chicago with a vital role, Rula Gardenier, talked about “Breaking Fast” and her move to Los Angeles.

“Breaking Fast” features Haaz Sleiman (”The Visitor”) as Mo, a gay Muslim doctor living in West Hollywood, and whose Mother (Gardenier) and family celebrates his orientation. He tries to resist the charm of Kal (Michael Cassidy), a charismatic non-Muslim he meets at a party and who surprises him by offering to break fast with him during the holy month of Ramadan. Through these two characters, director Mike Mosallam (who directed the 2015 short film on which the feature is based) delves into Muslim-American culture with a tenderness and wit that comes from the heart.

Breaking Fast - Jennie Kermode - 16191
Patrick Sabongui
It's never easy to feel torn between different loved ones, nor to feel less important, as chosen family, than the people one's partner grew up with. When Mo's boyfriend (Patrick Sabongui) leaves him because he's afraid of being outed to his conservative Muslim father, Mo (Haaz Sleiman) takes it very badly. A year later, he's still in a sulk, and his best friend Sam (Amin El Gamal) is determined to get him back into the dating game. Emotionally blackmailed into attending Sam's birthday party, Mo steadfastly tries to avoid being set up - until he meets Sam's friend Kal (Michael Cassidy), who is not at all like what he expected.

A sweet-natured romcom, Breaking Fast takes on some difficult issues around what it takes to love somebody and to accept love. It's set against the backdrop of Ramadan, with Mo's first surprise being that this all-American white guy speaks fluent Arabic.

Haaz Sleiman on How His Father’s Death Fueled His ‘Little America’ Performance
Image
As the titular son, Rafiq, in the first season finale episode of “Little America,” Haaz Sleiman delivered a journey of heartbreak and hope in the tight half-hour story. When the audience meets him, he is living with his family in Syria but quickly forced out of his home after his father learns he is gay. He finds solace in a new friend and in applying for asylum in the United States. The role was close to Sleiman’s heart as a gay man who grew up in Lebanon, and he will continue to represent the LGBTQ community with his next big role in Marvel’s “Eternals.”

Sleiman: I got the audition just like any other audition — through my agents. And as I was reading, it really interested me because I’ve never worked on an anthology series and I didn’t know much about anthology series prior to me doing “Little America.

After 12 years and 25 films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have its first Lgbtq kiss when “Eternals” hits theaters this fall, and one of the actors involved says that filming it was a very emotional moment for everyone on set.

“It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss. Everyone cried on set,” actor Haaz Sleiman said in an interview with NewNowNext. “For me, it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be.”

Sleiman plays the husband of Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), who is one of the immortal beings known as the Eternals. The Eternals have lived in secret on Earth for thousands of years, but must come out of hiding after the Earth is threatened by their evil counterparts, the Deviants.

The Eternals Will Feature Marvel's 'Beautiful' First Gay Kiss: 'Everyone Cried On Set'
Haaz Sleiman
Even superheroes cry sometimes.

On Thursday, actor Haaz Sleiman teased his upcoming on-screen kiss with costar Brian Tyree Henry, telling NewNowNext that filming the Eternals love scene — Marvel’s first Lgbtq smooch — was emotional for everyone on set.

“It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss,” said Sleiman, 43. “Everyone cried on set.”

In the upcoming blockbuster — which also stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington and a recently ripped Kumail Nanjiani — Sleiman plays the husband of Henry’s Phastos, the first openly gay superhero for Marvel after more than a decade of tentpole Avengers films.

The McU's First Gay Kiss Brought a Lot of Emotion to Marvel's Eternals Set
Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Ma Dong-seok, Brian Tyree Henry, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, and Lia McHugh in Eternos (2021)
Eternals actor Haaz Sleiman has revealed some new information about Marvel's first openly gay couple. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed last summer that the upcoming movie was going to feature the studios' first same-sex romance. The news was met with excitement from Marvel Cinematic Universe fans who have been wishing for more inclusion in their favorite movies. According to Sleiman, everything worked out very naturally on the set.

In a new interview, Haaz Sleiman talked about the Eternals project, which just recently wrapped production. While many assumed that Game of Thrones star Richard Madden was playing Marvel's first openly gay superhero, that isn't the case. Instead, it's Brian Tyree Henry's Phastos character. Sleiman had this to say about his on-screen relationship with Henry.

"I just shot a Marvel film with the first openly gay superhero, the Eternals. I'm married to the gay superhero Phastos, played by Atlanta's Brian Tyree Henry,...

‘The Eternals’ Actor Says Crew Cried on Set While Filming McU’s First Gay Kiss
Marvel Studios has made no secret that its upcoming fall tentpole “The Eternals” will feature its first openly gay superhero. In a new interview with Logo, “Eternals” actor Haaz Sleiman reveals his character is one half of the gay couple that appears in the movie. Sleiman says his character is “married to the gay superhero Phastos, played by ‘Atlanta’s’ Brian Tyree Henry, and we represent a gay family and have a child.” Marvel’s parent company Disney has promised significant gay moments in past tentpoles only for them to not be too explicit (who can forget the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” remake?), but Sleiman promises significant gay representation in “The Eternals.” The actor says the Chloe Zhao-directed superhero film will show Marvel’s first gay kiss.

“It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss,” Sleiman says. “Everyone cried on set. For me it’s very important to show how...

The Eternals Confirmed To Feature The McU’s First Gay Kiss
Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Ma Dong-seok, Brian Tyree Henry, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, and Lia McHugh in Eternos (2021)
We’ve known for a long while that The Eternals would mark a major first for the McU in the form of one of its ensemble cast of superheroes being portrayed as openly gay, making them the first explicitly Lgbt+ lead character in the entire franchise. Footage shown at Ccxp back in December had already confirmed the identity of this individual, but now we’ve learned that the film will also feature the McU’s first gay kiss as well.

We know that Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos is The Eternals‘ gay lead, something that actor Haaz Sleiman has concurred in an interview with New Now Next. But that’s not all, as Sleiman also revealed that he’ll be playing Phastos’ husband in the movie and that the pair will have children. He also made clear that there’ll be an on-screen kiss between the couple, something he’s very proud of.
