Despite the manifold complications that arose during the acquisition of the Star Wars IP by Disney in 2019, one of the less complicated topics of conversation was George Lucas’ involvement in the franchise.
With the auteur seemingly retiring from the IP that he built from the ground up, it didn’t seem necessary to bring in Lucas on every creative, executive decision rolling out of Disney.

However, there is an inherent decency in honoring the legacy of George Lucas and the universe of original stories and characters he built straight out of his imagination.
Despite the disrespect served by Disney with the Skywalker saga, the billion-dollar studio did seem to rally in Lucas’ favor after adopting one of his original ideas into some of their latest projects.

Unlike their golden run on the big screen till phase 3, Marvel didn’t quite replicate its huge success on the small screen, with most of the Disney Plus MCU shows earning less-than-stellar reception. While fans have complained about MCU’s recent catalog being bloated following the abundance of TV shows, Marvel has also abandoned an overwhelming number of TV shows over the years.
This involves several renowned superheroes, including a Captain Britain show, which was greenlit long before the rise of Disney Plus and MCU TV shows.

Back in 2016, rumors regarding a Captain Britain show being in the early stages of development emerged. Poster artist Clara McAvoy claimed she was being paid to do a promo poster for it, assuring fans an official announcement might be heading our way in early 2017 or late 2016. Unfortunately, it never happened, leading many to speculate Marvel might have put the kibosh on it.

HBO's "The Last of Us" doesn't need much improvisation. The heart-pounding series from Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann pulls plenty of its best lines from the video game on which it's based, and when writers do make changes, they tend to be for the better. Series cinematographer Eben Bolter even described the show's Emmy-winning third episode screenplay to /Film as a "golden script" and "an instruction manual for greatness." It sounds like improv moments were few and far between during the filming of the first season, but Pedro Pascal did manage to ad lib a line that made one key moment stronger.
In a conversation with original Joel Miller voice actor Troy Baker for "The Last of Us Podcast," co-creators Mazin and Druckmann unpacked an emotional episode 6 scene in which Joel broke down to his brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna), revealing the true depths of his care for Ellie (Bella Ramsey...

The National Hispanic Media Coalition is mounting a campaign to educate Hollywood leaders about the economic value of the Latino audience as well as the need to bring more Latinos into senior roles at all levels of entertainment.
The Nhmc, the nearly 40-year-old Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group led by Brenda Victoria Castillo, has published a 32-page guide designed to be a roadmap for the entertainment industry. Actor Gabriel Luna is among the prominent Latino talents who is supporting Nhmc’s initiative. Castillo is about to make the rounds with senior executives in media and entertainment to press them on the lack of progress for Latinos, particularly in the executive suites.
After many years in the trenches as an advocate, Castillo believes there is a high level of misunderstanding about the Latino community.

As part of its ongoing mission to promote Latinx civil and human rights, the National Hispanic Media Coalition is releasing its first-ever media guide for storytellers in the entertainment industry.
“The media guide is an analysis for the entertainment industry to understand our community,” Nhmc president and CEO Brenda Victoria Castillo tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that the resource, which is available for free online, will be continually updated to reflect as the Latinx community evolves.
To wit: The guide opens with an explanation of Latino/a/x/e nomenclature, as well as their differentiation from the “Hispanic” identity. Nhmc’s guide uses mostly “Latinx” throughout because of its gender neutrality, but advises people to ask individuals their preferred descriptors.
The guide calls for fewer stereotypical depictions of Latinx characters – “cholos,” service roles, no or limited dialogue – and more that reflect the community’s expansive range: Latinx in science fiction and fantasy; multiracial,...

First seen in a comic called Marvel Spotlight #5 in 1972, Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, has amassed a loyal following, affiliating with teams such as the Avengers, Thunderbolts, and Midnight Sons. Though Robbie Reyes (another Ghost Rider with a different back story) cameoed in Agents of Shield, speculation swirls around Marvel Studios’ strategy for a renewed MCU depiction.

Reeves’ experience in action and superhero flicks makes him ideal for the role of Johnny Blaze ( a character previously portrayed by Nicholas Cage). A fan-made trailer, shared by K.H. Arnold Schwarzenegger has provided an update to fans after undergoing open-heart surgery, offering some encouragement that he won’t be away from business for too long. The 76-year-old actor and former Governor of California shared a photograph from recovery, including a sight gag about his new pacemaker, depicted as a cartoon-esque time bomb.
“I’ve gotten so many kind messages from all over the world, but a lot of people have asked if my pacemaker will cause any problems with ‘Fubar’ Season 2. Absolutely not,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a post Thursday afternoon. “I will be ready to film in April and you can only see it if you’re really looking for it.”

Three open-heart surgeries and a pacemaker haven’t slowed Arnold Schwarzenegger down — or stifled his sense of humor.
After revealing the procedures earlier this week, the Governator posted a photo of himself today with a note thanking all those who sent him messages. He assured fans the health issues will not keep him from shooting Netflix’s Fubar, which was renewed for a second season last year.
“Absolutely not,” Schwarzenegger said about whether he’d be prevented from shooting. “I will be ready to film in April.”
The actor also added a bit of levity. The photo he shared shows a reclining Schwarzenegger with a red wire running out of his ear into what looks like a Looney Tunes version of a time bomb resting on his chest.

Since the release of ‘Echo,’ fans have received confirmation that ‘The Defenders’ Saga is part of the MCU canon, despite some inconsistencies with established lore. However, recent reports suggest that not all events from the saga will be acknowledged in the MCU, with some being ignored and certain characters being recast.
For years, there has been ongoing debate about Ghost Rider’s inclusion in the MCU. Robbie Reyes was introduced in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ played by Gabriel Luna, but his character departed in Season 4 Episode 22, the finale, as he went to dispose of Darkhold in Hell.
With rumors swirling about a standalone Ghost Rider project, notable leaker Daniel Richtman has confirmed that the Ghost Rider from the Defenders Saga won’t be the one featured in the MCU. Instead, it’s likely a different, more popular version of the character will be utilized, potentially with a new actor in the role.

Season 2 of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us has officially started filming in Vancouver, Canada, and a while back (before filming began) the show’s star Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, said that one of the things she was most looking forward to about the new season was getting the chance to play out “the Dina storyline”. Last month, we learned that Isabela Merced – who can be seen in this weekend’s release Madame Web – had been cast as Dina, Ellie’s new romantic interest. While attending the world premiere of Madame Web, Merced took a moment to confirm that she has already done a day of work as Dina.
Merced told Deadline, “The stars are truly aligning. I had several of my friends that I’ve worked with in this industry for a long time join the cast. I can’t say who just joined.

Isabela Merced was already one of the industry’s most sought-after young actors, and then she went on an unparalleled casting streak that includes the likes of Madame Web, Alien: Romulus, Superman: Legacy and The Last of Us season two. Marvel Comics chain-wielding, flaming skull-head biker "Ghost Rider", previously appearing in Sony's live-action movies starring Nicolas Cage, plus a guest arc on ABC's "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series, continues to generate interest from Marvel Studios, to have the character debut in a big screen 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' feature, preferably to be played by first choice: Ryan Gosling:

Although Iger emphasized the importance of quality over quantity for the MCU, Marvel Studios appears to have numerous projects in confirmed development, along with several others rumored to be in the works. Last year, speculation circulated about a Ghost Rider TV show, with some suggesting Nicholas Cage’s potential involvement. While Ghost Rider has already made an appearance in the MCU in some capacity, recent rumors indicate the possibility of a standalone movie for the character.

Despite Iger’s recent comments on how MCU should focus on quality over quantity Marvel Studios has plenty of projects confirmed to be in development but also plenty of other projects that are only rumored to be in development. Last year there were plenty of rumors going around mentioning the Ghost Rider TV show, some rumors stating that Nicholas Cage might be playing him.
We already have Ghost Rider in the MCU, sort of, but if the most recent rumors are true, Ghost Rider might get his standalone movie.

Season 2 is based on the video game The Last of Us Part II, and while Pascal made his way down the red carpet at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of his movie Freaky Tales, Deadline took the opportunity to ask Pascal if his character arc on the show will differ from what Joel goes through in the video game source material.
Pascal answered, “Does it deviate from the game? That’s a good question. I think that they’re always going to find ways to build on the incredible source material that they have, and surprise us with how they can use that material in a different format like a television show.

"The Boys" universe is continuing to expand — and now the franchise is headed to Mexico. That's right! Amazon MGM Studios is now developing another show in the ever-growing universe based on the comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson titled "The Boys: Mexico." While it's still in the very early stages, the show has assembled a pretty impressive team behind the scenes to get the ball rolling.
According to Deadline, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is set to write and executive produce the new Mexican-set spin-off. What's more, Gabriel Luna ("Andor") and Gael García Bernal ("Werewolf by Night") are also on board as executive producers and might also appear on screen, though they wouldn't be taking on major roles. Plot details for the series currently remain under wraps but the report states that the series is expected to eventually film in Mexico, rather than in the U.S. or Canada, for example.

Season 2 of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us is expected to start filming in Vancouver, Canada on January 7, 2024 – and while speaking to the folks at Collider, series star Bella Ramsey revealed what she’s most looking forward to about working on the new season: getting the chance to do more stunts, and to play out the Dina storyline.
Since The Last of Us season 2 will be based on the video game The Last of Us Part II, Ramsey knows a bit about what to expect from the new episodes. She told Collider, “I’m excited for the really intense stuff, because I did a bit of that in season 1 obviously, but to do that. And actually more physical scenes because Ellie is obviously more physically fit in season 2. I love stunt stuff, and like waking up with bruises the next day, and finding myself with a black eye,...
