The #MeToo movement arrived late in India. But it is a juggernaut that is here to stay, and is having a measurable effect on production.
Aamir Khan Productions is to withdraw from a film where one of the filmmakers is accused of harassment in a 2014 case that is currently sub-judice. “This is an opportunity for the film industry to introspect and take concrete steps towards change,” actor/producer Aamir Khan and producer Kiran Rao tweeted in a joint statement. “For far too long women have borne the brunt of sexual exploitation. It has to stop.”
The movement kicked off with actress Tanushree Dutta accusing veteran actor Nana Patekar of harassment on the sets of “Horn ‘Ok’ Pleasss” in 2008, an allegation she made then and again last week. This was followed by harassment allegations against Phantom Films founding partner Vikas Bahl by an employee. That led to the dissolution of the company.

DocumentaryThe documentary by Vaishnavi Sundar has case studies from women across fields, from actors to sportspersons, journalists and workers in the unorganised sector.Sowmya RajendranSexual harassment at the workplace is not a new phenomenon. However, in the recent past, several discussions have been triggered around it, thanks to the worldwide #MeToo movement where women have been naming and shaming the perpetrators. In India, in 2017, law student Raya Sarkar put together a list of alleged sexual harassers in the Indian academia through survivors who approached her online. The List or LoSHA (List of Sexual Harassers in Academia) as it was called, led to several discussions and angry debates. While one side felt The List was irresponsible and insisted that due process must be followed, the other side argued that it wasn't a substitute for the law, but a warning for other women. It was pointed out that 'due process' had repeatedly failed to protect the survivors.

Tnm StaffNana Patekar (L), Tanushree Dutta (R)“He had no business being on set, it was my solo sequence. But there he was… pulling me my arms, teaching me the dance,” Tanushree Dutta says, recounting the shooting of her 2009 movie Horn 'Ok' Pleassss. Tanishk Bagchi certainly is a music composer on the rise. Having been introduced in Tanu Weds Manu Returns with the song ‘Banno’, he’s gone on to compose many more songs. In fact, he has been responsible for some very touching folk rhythms and a lot of remakes that is now part and parcel of Bollywood culture. He does seem an odd choice for Hate Story IV, which on the outside is both a sequel that isn’t a sequel and from its premise that is looking more towards the raunchy than the traditional. On the Ost, he is ably given a hand by Arko Mukherjee, Mithoon and other guest directors, each bringing unique talents to make for a rounded and complete soundtrack. There are eight songs in total here, which has not been the recent trend, so a lot of emphasis has been given to the musical sound to add to the film.

Tanushree Dutta, the beauty queen turned actress, with films like Aashiq Banaya Apne, 36 China Town etc... to her credit, had disappeared from the scene for quite some time now. The good news is that she will now be seen hosting the 'Best of Fear Files' on Zee TV. Talking about the show, she said that she was having a great time shooting for the show, as it not just 'any other' crime show. She added that the reason why she agreed to do the show was because it used a mixture of first hand testimony and gritty realistic drama, without sensationalizing the scary element on the show.

Mumbai, May 16: Unlike her big sister Tanushree Dutta, Ishita decided to enter showbiz through television show "Ek Ghar Banaunga". The newcomer says that even though she makes her own decision, she considers herself lucky to have a guiding force in her elder sister.
"Everything that I do, I ask her for advice. She has been in the industry for a while and she is my elder sister," Ishita told Ians.
A former beauty queen, Tanushree started her acting career with 2006 film "Aashiq Banaya Apne" and later featured in films like "Bhagam Bhag", "Dhol" and "Speed".

The 57th Filmfare Awards took place last week in Film City and the awards ceremony was a starry affair. Stars such as Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Vidya Balan turned up to the prestige awards ceremony.
With such a prestigious awards ceremony-taking place we had to have our eyes on the fashion. There was a mixture of western gowns and sari’s on the red carpet with stars working a number of trends. If there were an award for the best-dressed star of the night we would have to give it to Dia Mirza who worked a traditional style sari and looked beautiful. There were many stars that did not dress well but the star that would have to take the worst dressed award from us would be Chitrangada Singh who wore a clashing gown!
