Richard Bostard's fashion designer career was established in the New York City garment industry as a "children's fashion daily wear" designer. Meeting the television designer Charles Lisanby, Richard moved into Charles' New York apartment, becoming Lisanby's life partner. When Lisanby relocated to the west coast for television art direction positions, Bostard maintained their New York apartment while Lisanby jetted from coast to coast. After Charles purchased property in the foot-hills of Hollywood, Bostard closed the NYC apartment, and moved to Hollywood. Lisanby was instrumental in getting his life-time partner employment in the Hollywood entertainment business as a costume designer.
