Soap alum Jacob Young is set to star in and co-direct “Murder Between Friends,” an independent film about a legendary TV star who tries to solve a murder that occurred at her countryside estate. Joan Collins leads the cast, which also includes “Days of our Lives” alum Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe Lane).
“It’s very Agatha Christie, sort of ‘Knives Out’ without having a hundred million dollars to shoot it, but still will be a lovely film nonetheless,” Young told Michael Fairman TV last month while out promoting another film he recently starred in called “Four For Fun.” Jason Cook directed that film, which also stars Brytni Sarpi.
Other actors set to appear in “Murder Between Friends” include British soap star Toby-Alexander Smith, Jim Borstelmann, Espen Hatleskog and Czech actress Hana Vagnerová. “All My Children” alum Trent Garrett (ex-Asher Pike) is reportedly set to co-direct alongside Young, with the film based...

There have been horror takes on children’s stories before, but turning fairy tales into horror movies has become very trendy lately. Earlier this year, we got Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (read our review Here), and the filmmakers behind that movie are planning to make a sequel, while also building a cinematic universe that will include horror versions of Bambi and Peter Pan (Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare), among others. Meanwhile, Cinderella’s Curse, Cinderella’s Revenge, Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Death and Porridge are all coming down the line. Before we get any of those, Level 33 Entertainment will be bring Belle, a horrific take on Beauty and the Beast, to VOD on August 22nd. A trailer for the film can be seen in the embed above.

A couple try the swinging lifestyle in Borders Of Love, a Czech-set drama that premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Hana (Hana Vagnerová) and Petr (Matyáš Řezníček) have a loving relationship that’s tested when they open things up, inspired by friends who evangelize about the experience.
While Hana thrives on exploring her sexuality with other men, the novelty begins to wear off for Petr, and emotions come to a head when one of them breaks their first rule: never see the same person twice.
The film from Polish-born, Prague-based director Tomasz Wiński, who also co-writes, is an initially involving drama that wears thin in the final act, though performances consistently engage and the shooting style helps to enhance the intimacy.
For this is a couple who record themselves constantly, perhaps obsessively. When Hana loses years of home movies on a broken hard drive, she’s bereft, and...

French sales agency Loco Films has boarded erotic love story “Borders of Love,” which world premieres in competition at Karlovy Vary Film Festival. The company has debuted the film’s first trailer.
The Czech-Polish movie centers on Petr and Hana, who – after years together – share their unspoken erotic fantasies. What begins as an innocent conversation gradually turns into experimentation with a non-monogamous approach to their relationship. This debut by Tomasz Wiński “explores various forms of intimacy and the possibilities of its depiction on the big screen,” according to a statement.
Loco’s Laurent Danielou said: “We are thrilled and excited to work on such an elegant, inflaming and deep movie where the director manages to bring this hot subject to a high level.”
Wiński said: “Our film probes the intimacy of a couple who, through video confessions, explore the limits of honesty in an open relationship. We are interested in...

Fiona Ziegler’s absurd comedy-road movie revolves around the clash between two worlds and “the grotesque charm of the bourgeoisie”. Czech-based Swiss filmmaker Fiona Ziegler, a Famu graduate, is presently shooting her debut feature, Lost in Paradise, which is expected to wrap on 8 August. Ziegler’s absurd comedy-road movie is the first-ever Czech-Swiss co-produced project, and is being shot in Prague and Bern. The story is described as revolving around the clash between two worlds, and the movie stars Swiss actor Dominique Jann as the protagonist, Evžen, and Czech actress Hana Vagnerová as his love interest. Evžen traded Switzerland for Prague, a city his father left in 1968, to live an independent, bohemian life running a music club called Venuše (Venus). His situation changes suddenly when a fire breaks out in the venue and he has to pay for the damage within a week to avoid eviction. In order to continue.
