Jorge Luna(I)
- Actor
- Cinematographer
- Camera and Electrical Department
Jorge Luna was born into a family of artists in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
His mother wrote children's stories and his father was a requinto and
guitar player. They both worked as health-care consultants while
raising Monchi, Noris, and Jorge. Being the youngest of the three
siblings, Luna was determined to be the first to realize his artistic
dream. At the age of seven he was inspired by a virtuoso circus
performance by a troop called Circolo. A few years later Luna
discovered his love for performing arts when he started off as a DJ,
and continued spinning in nightclubs and venues until he discovered his
central passion, acting.
He is drawn to roles that require a physical challenge and is
particularly adept at radically reinventing himself from role to role.
Some of Luna's favorite theater roles have been Marat in The Promise,
Felisardo in Los Melindres de Belisa, and Trissotin in Moliere's The
Learned Ladies, in which he played full tilt the character's
flamboyance. His roles have been far reaching, ranging from antagonist
Iachimo in Cymbeline to the visionary Vlass in Summer folk. He trained
at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Other roles have
included Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Cassius in Julius Caesar and
Trinculo in The Tempest. In film he has played characters that demand a
full emotional engagement. Recently Luna played one of the four leads
in John D. Harkrider's All the Beautiful Things, a role he developed
with the director. He can also be seen in a national commercial for Radio Shack.
He is multilingual, fluent in Portuguese, and native in both English
and Spanish. He is also a photographer and a guitar player.
