Clay McLeod Chapman's What Kind Of Mother: "Since making his horror debut with The Remaking in 2019 and its follow-up Whisper Down the Lane in 2020, Clay McLeod Chapman has become known as “one of horror’s modern masters,” and “the real deal” when it comes to “high-grade horror”. In 2022, he cemented this reputation with his “legitimately terrifying” third novel Ghost Eaters, a “thoughtful and smart (if grim) exploration of how addiction destroys lives,” that “should make Clay McLeod Chapman a star,” (Vulture). Now, Chapman returns with What Kind of Mother, an unyielding blend of domestic suspense and supernatural horror that results in a visceral exploration of parental grief.

A few months ago, it was announced that the great Nicolas Cage will be starring in Longlegs, the latest horror project from The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel director Osgood Perkins. A project that Cage has said is about “a character who’s hearing voices. Warner Bros. Television presidents Susan Rovner and Brett Paul hosted a conference call Wednesday evening to share information about the studio’s current thinking on production after weeks of coronavirus-imposed shutdowns. The call was attended by the studio’s showrunners, executive producers and line producers, as well as by people from production companies with whom Wbtv and Warner Horizon has deals.
According to a source familiar with what was said on the call, Rovner and Paul said its purpose was to lay out the studio’s overall approach to starting up production safely for scripted television in both general and specific ways. “We are all working as hard as we can so that when we are allowed to return to work, we’re all ready,” Paul said, according to the source.
There was no timetable specified for when production might resume. But looming over their remarks was that many states...

As Hollywood contemplates the risks and uncertainties around going back into production in the coming months after coronavirus-imposed shutdowns, strategies for scaled-back sets are beginning to emerge. Producers Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Chris Ferguson — from the companies Automatik and Oddfellows (“Child’s Play”), respectively — have created a proposal titled “Isolation Based Production Plan,” which Variety has obtained.
They began working on it weeks ago, sending versions of the multi-page document to colleagues and industry friends asking for feedback about what in the plan would and would not work. It would be most directly applicable to lower-to-mid-budget movies, but elements of it could be used for other types of productions. The proposal — surely one of many being worked on at studios and production companies in the entertainment industry — sheds light on what types of precautions will need to be taken, and what sacrifices might have to be made for Hollywood to get...

Chucky is back — and he’s gone high-tech.
The official trailer for the “Child’s Play” reboot was released Thursday, revealing a murderous doll for the digital era.
Yep, he’s still got a sharp knife and an evil blank stare as he did in the 1988 horror classic, but now Chucky is connected to the Buddi app that claims to introduce you to “your new best friend.” With friends like these, who needs serial killers?

“Star Wars” star Mark Hamill will voice Chucky in the new “Child’s Play” reboot, Orion Pictures announced on Saturday.
The actor joins Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry in a contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic that follows Karen (Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Bateman) with a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have an icon creating a new take on an iconic character,” producer David Katzenberg said in a statement. “Mark is a gifted actor and celebrated vocal performer, and he’s approached this challenge with incredible energy and commitment.”
