The 2025 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament is set to tape from Tuesday, February 4, to Thursday, February 6, according to The Jeopardy! Fan, and on Reddit, fans are submitting their contestant wishlists. “Who do you think will be in this year’s Jit?” one Reddit user wrote on Saturday, February 1, kicking off the conversation. A new Jeopardy! champion has been crowned. After 10 days of fierce competition, Friday’s episode saw Minnesota-based substitute teacher Sam Kavanaugh take home the $250,000 grand prize for winning the latest Tournament of Champions.

Jennifer Quail, a wine tasting consultant from Dowagiac, Mich., finished in second place, winning $100,000, while Veronica Vichit-Vadakan, a reference and instruction librarian from Portland, Ore., netted $50,000 with her third-place win.

Sam Kavanaugh, a substitute teacher from Carlton, Minnesota, emerged triumphant at the 2021 Jeopardy! Tournament Of Champions on Friday night.

The annual Jeopardy! event saw Kavanaugh best fellow contestants Jennifer Quail and Veronica Vichit-Vadakan and win a $250,000 grand prize. Quail came in second with $100,000 in winning snad Vichit-Vadakan with $50,000. Jeopardy! all-star Buzzy Cohen hosted the 10-day trivia tournament.

Kavanaugh joins previous winners James Holzhauer, Buzzy Cohen, Alex Jacob, Ben Ingram, Colby Burnett, Roger Craig, Vijay Balse and more as Tournamnet Of Champions victors.

Jeopardy! will match Kavanaugh’s winnings and donate $250,000 to the Hope of the Valley Trebek Center for the Homeless, in honor of Alex Trebek.

“It’s so wonderful that Jeopardy! is supporting Hope of the Valley’s – The Trebek Center in Northridge, CA,” Jean Trebek, the former host’s widow, said of the donation. “The show’s generosity continues to reflect Alex’s desire to assist underrepresented communities.

“Jeopardy!” all-star and 2017 Tournament of Champions winner Buzzy Cohen is set to take to the podium as guest host of the quiz competition show’s upcoming 10-day tournament.

This year’s Tournament of Champions will take place from May 17-28, with 15 previous contestants coming back to compete for a $250,000 purse. That prize money will be matched and donated to the Hope of the Valley Trebek Center for the Homeless, which helps up to 300 people a year with shelter, intensive case management, mental health services, job training and placement, substance abuse counseling, housing navigation, life skill training and medical care.

Cohen, who first appeared on “Jeopardy!” in 2016, won $164,603 over the course of nine games, then returned the following year and again in 2019 as team captain for a “Jeopardy!” All-Star game.
