Bluey fans around the world are on pins and needles for the new full-length feature film adaptation in 2027, but things are about to change. Although Bluey creator Joe Brumm is devoting all of his time and energy to make the movie great, one development has some fans biting their nails.
Along with the official announcement, it was revealed that Bluey would be getting a CG makeover for the occasion. That's not an uncommon practice for TV show characters making the transition to film, but fans might not need to be so uptight because a redesign has happened before.
All New (and Blue)
Here's what Bluey's official blog says about the future update,
"The CG animated film will be produced by award-winning animation producer Amber Naismith with Richard Jeffery returning to co-direct (’Bluey’ Series 1-3). Joe Brumm will serve as executive producer, alongside Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson from Ludo Studio,...

By little exaggeration, Bluey is perhaps one of the biggest and most successful animated series within the past decade. Although it's an absolute hit in the show's native Australia, Disney made it a global sensation by including it on Disney+.
Thanks in no small part to Disney's involvement, Bluey, Bingo, and all the rest have become household names. That said, could they still thrive if the House of Mouse has more power?
Can Disney Keep Bluey's Magic?
Bluey buffs around the world were bombarded with delight just before the Christmas season. Not only did a new partnership between Disney and Ludo come with the reveal of a new full-length Bluey movie, but it was also revealed that Bluey and Bingo are finally on their way to the Disney Parks.

Big things are happening in the world of Bluey this week. Yesterday, fans were told that the beloved Australian animated series is set to get its first full-length feature film in 2027. That's certainly a game-changer for the beloved blue dog, but it also comes with some "trifficult" developments as well.
Along with this major development, two other changes coming down the pipeline might not go over well with the show's immense fanbase. Along with Bluey creator Joe Brumm stepping away from his role on the animated series to focus on the film, it was also announced that the characters are being made over with a "CG" style.
Bluey's Big Makeover
It's safe to say that very few individuals don't know the name "Bluey." The Heelers have been a part of our lives since 2018, and Ludo's partnership with Disney has only made them a permanent fixture in our homes, but...

Stick with a runtime, Joe Brumm.
A CG-animation “Bluey” movie is coming to theaters in 2027, Disney and BBC Studios announced on Tuesday. The series itself, created by Brumm, is 2D animation — and it is extremely short form.
“Bluey” is the ultra-rare kids show that parents may actually love more than even their children do. Scratch that: “Bluey” is the ultra-rare kids show that parents may actually love more than even their children do. The family comedy has big laughs and bigger heartfelt moments, so a supersized version on a supersized screen just makes sense.
“Bluey” is a viewership phenomenon — per Nielsen, it is the most-streamed show (of any kind) in the U.S. this year. And Bluey the brand is a cash cow, which feels appropriate considering the Heelers are Australian Cattle Dogs.
So the only reason a “Bluey” movie feels weird to myself — a true fan and father of...

After the movie is released in theaters in 2027, it will be made available for streaming on Disney+ as part of the deal. The movie, per a synopsis, will "[deliver] the same charm and humor that made the television series a global phenomenon [and] continue the adventures of Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo." BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company today announced the first-ever Bluey movie, which will be based on the Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning animated series.
The new deal sees Disney acquiring the global theatrical rights for the film, which will land in theaters in 2027 under the Disney banner. Following the global theatrical release, the Bluey movie will stream on Disney+.
Written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, the film is a Ludo Studio production in collaboration with BBC Studios. Delivering the same charm and humor that made the television series a global phenomenon, the movie will continue the adventures of Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her mum, dad and her little sister, Bingo.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that.

The Bluey movie is go.
After months of speculation, the global TV kids phenomenon is heading to the big screen in 2027 under a deal struck by Disney and BBC Studios. Disney has global theatrical and streaming rights.
Written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, the film is a Ludo Studio production. Brumm announced that he was stepping away from the TV series to make the film. The TV series will continue without him.
The Australian series chronicles the life of blue heeler dog, Bluey, and her family: Mom Chilli, Dad Bandit, and sister Bingo. The show has captured the world’s imagination with its charming, funny, and relatable observations about everyday family life.
“I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together,” Brumm said.

‘Robbie Hood’ writer-director Dylan River (front) and (L-r) actors Jordan Johnson, Pedrea Jackson and Levi Thomas.
Sbs’s Robbie Hood puts a new spin on the Robin Hood folk tale, setting it in modern day Alice Springs. It follows 13-year-old Robbie and his two friends Blue and Little Johnny, who together set about rectifying injustices they see in their community – though things don’t always go to plan.
The short-form series – 6 x 10 minutes – is the result of a partnership between Ludo Studio and 1788 Productions, and was supported by Screen Australia, Screen Territory and Screen Queensland.
Writer-director Dylan River says the show is based on both his own and his family’s experiences growing up in Alice.
“It’s a gift to the youth of Alice Springs, and I guess the whole town, making light of some more problematic issues and things that we see day-to-day here.”

Ludo Studio.s Daley Pearson seems to have an ongoing fascination with peculiar events and the supernatural.
Pearson created The Strange Calls, the ABC TV comedy starring Toby Truslove as a Gold Coast cop who investigates weird things that happen after dark; a Us remake is being developed by 20th TV for the ABC network.
Now Daley and his Ludo Studio partner Charlie Aspinwall are developing The Strange Chores, a 2D animated series for ABC3 about two 12-year-old boys, both troublemakers, who earn pocket money by doing bizarre chores for their mysterious neighbour. The boys. adventures often involve supernatural elements.
Neither guy had any experience in animation so they reached out to Media World.s Colin South, who produced the toon series Dogstar and The New Adventures of Ocean Girl as well as live action drama The Circuit and the movie Stone Bros.

As a Saturday Night Live fan, Australian writer-director Daley Pearson had a bright idea for a multi-platform comedy series with a fast turnaround, in which audiences participate.
Screen Australia, Screen Nsw and Screen Queensland funded the development of the project and the ABC commissioned a series. The result is 7 Days Later, which will premiere on ABC 2 at 9 pm on October 22 and on social media sites.
The concept seems a recipe for chaos. Seven days before the show goes to air, the producers will announce a key word via YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and 2Jjj.
Audiences are then invited to contribute storylines and characters, which Pearson and co-creator Nick Boshier will develop into a script which will be performed by a cast of YouTube identities, with a fair bit of improvisation.
