Exclusive: The Spike Jonze documentary Beastie Boys Story has put a hold on its IMAX theatrical release which was originally set for April 3. A new theatrical date will be announced at a later date, but on the brighter side of things, the docu about the iconic music group will stream on Apple TV+ starting April 24.
“Our highest priority is the health of our audiences and employees, as well as their families and communities,” said an IMAX spokesperson in a statement given to Deadline. “Given the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting theatre closures nationwide, we have decided to postpone the theatrical release of ‘Beastie Boys Story’ to a later date, which will be announced as soon as possible. IMAX ticket holders can receive a full refund by contacting their local theatre. Beastie Boys Story, directed by Spike Jonze, will premiere on Apple TV+ on April 24.”

Just one night before the Oscars take over town, stars flocked to the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards on the Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (February 21).
Fred Armisen and Kristen Bell joined forces for co-hosting duties and put on a fabulous show as actors and actresses including Scarlett Johansson, Ethan Hawke, Jessica Chastain, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto and Emma Stone turned up to lend their star power to the IFC airing ceremony.
As for this year's cream of the crop, Michael Keaton (Birdman), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) took home top honors in the lead and supporting acting categories.
Meanwhile, in what very well may be an indicator for what's to come tomorrow at the Academy Awards, "Birdman" was recognized as Best Feature while Richard Linklater nabbed Best Director accolades for "Boyhood".

London’s Barbican Hall has been selected to host a live satellite broadcast of Nick Cave documentary 20,000 Days on Earth to 150 UK cinemas on September 17.
The gala preview will be followed by an hour-long event, set to include a live performance from Nick Cave, Warren Ellis and Barry Adamson and a Q&A with the creative team behind the film including directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard as well as special guests.
Picturehouse Entertainment will release 20,000 Days on Earth on September 19 in cinemas across the UK and Ireland.

HanWay Select has concluded a raft of deals on Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard’s acclaimed Sundance and Berlin documentary 20,000 Days on Earth, featuring musician Nick Cave.
In recent months deals have been finalised for Germany (Rapid Eye), France (Carlotta Films) Spain (Avalon), Italy (Feltrinelli), Benelux (Remain in Light), Scandinavia (Non Stop), Portugal (Leopardo), Poland (Gutek), Mexico (Canana), Czech/Slovak Republic (Acfc), Former Yugoslavia (McF), Turkey (Calinos), Japan (Transformer) and Russia (Magna Tech).
As previously announced, Drafthouse picked up Us rights.
The doc, which fuses drama and reality through a fictional day in Cave’s life, won the Best Directing and Best Editing Awards in the World Cinema Documentary category at Sundance. Cave and regular collaborator Warren Ellis provide the soundtrack.

Visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard’s directorial debut explores the creative process of Nick Cave and imagines one fictional day in his life. Cave composed the score with Warren Ellis.
The film first screened in the World Cinema Documentary strand at Sundance where it won best directing and best editing awards.

HanWay has acquired world rights, excluding UK and Australia, with the latter being pre-bought by Madman in a deal with the producers.
Produced out of Pulse Films by James Wilson (Jw Films) and Dan Bowen, the film is backed by Film4, the BFI, Corniche Pictures, Pulse, Phi, and Goldin Films.
