Elliot Page criticized Canada’s rollback of LGBTQ rights on the stage of the Juno Awards in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday night.
“We are at a time in history where the rights of LGBTQ2+ people are being revoked, restricted and eliminated throughout the world, and the effects are devastating,” Page, a transgender Halifax native, said in a speech presenting twin singer-songwriters Tegan and Sara with the Junos’ humanitarian award. Page praised the work of the Tegan and Sara Foundation for 2Slgbtq+ youth, supporting health care services to youth programs. Earlier in the week, he said at BFI Flare, London’s LGBTQ film festival, that “30% of young people identify as LGBTQ,” referring to a survey released earlier this year about Gen Z adults in the U.S. “So I’m sorry, but this is not niche.”

Paring down on some of your streaming services to save money? You don’t have to give up on entertaining TV shows. Free ad-supported streaming TV is on the rise, with services such as Pluto, Tubi, and the Roku Channel offering a mix of familiar favorites and original programming. There’s also Amazon Freevee, which is home to a small mix of shows such Bosch: Legacy and Leverage: Redemption. Here’s a roundup of five shows you can stream on Freevee.
‘Bosch: Legacy’ is a spinoff of Prime Video’s ‘Bosch’ Mimi Rogers and Titus Welliver in ‘Bosch: Legacy’ | Tyler Golden for Amazon Freevee
Bosch was one of the most popular original series on Prime Video, and many fans were disappointed when it was announced the series about LAPD detective Harry Bosch would end after seven seasons. Fortunately, Amazon decided it wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the character played by Titus Welliver.

The second scene in “High School,” before even the title card makes an appearance, sees future Canadian pop star Tegan Quin absently staring at the already-iconic Icelandic pop star Björk. While the swan queen would serve as a sound role model for any artistic-minded youth, Björk’s words barely register with the brooding young woman, sitting in her basement, building resentment toward a sister who’s upstairs monopolizing their once-shared friend, Phoebe (Olivia Rouyre). Soon, in a fight ostensibly started over a loud boombox, Sara (Seazynn Gilliland) gets one heck of a shiner from her frustrated sibling, Tegan (played by Railey Gilliland).
But just as the sudden outburst of violence isn’t a sign of dark and dangerous events to come, Björk’s wisdom isn’t doomed to obscurity — not for viewers, anyway. “I think I’ve been playing music long enough to realize that if I’m having fun,...

Tegan and Sara have dropped new single “Fucking Up With Matters.” The track from their upcoming 10th studio album is their first new music released on the Mom+Pop label.
Co-produced by John Congleton, the song addresses the “turbulence” the twin sibling musicians have gone through and grown from alongside the worldwide challenges of the last couple of years, per a statement. Despite the heavier themes inspired by trying times, the song is an ebullient power-pop jam, which features the duo’s signature unison singing and catchy refrains.

IMDb TV has found its leads for High School, a coming-of-age dramedy series based on the memoir by Tegan and Sara Quin, from Housebroken co-creator Clea DuVall, Plan B Entertainment and Amazon Studios.
Discovered via TikTok by Canadian indie pop duo Tegan and Sara themselves, TV newcomers and twins Railey and Seazynn Gilliland have been tapped as series leads, portraying the high school versions of Tegan and Sara. Cobie Smulders and Kyle Bornheimer will also guest star in the series, playing the twins’ parents. High School will start filming on March 21 in Calgary, Ab.
High School is a story about finding your own identity—a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimics your own. Told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from each other.

Twin sister indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara have always specialized in remaking well-worn forms in their own image — from their early days turning coffee shop confessionals into sharp power pop to their recent emergence as Top 40 contenders who can write glossy dance-pop with a uniquely nuanced urgency, Now, they’ve re-imagined the rock star memoir. High School is a lot like their songs: complexly intimate, smartly crafted, and packing a subtle emotional wallop. The pair co-wrote the book, alternating authorship between chapters and focusing exclusively on their teenage years as...

Twin-sister indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara tell their “origin story” in the upcoming memoir High School. The siblings wrote the book together, alternating chapters, and across more than 350 pages, they recount their formative years, and the beginnings of their musical collaboration.
“High School provides a purview of the queer adolescent experience,” the duo’s mother writes in a statement found on the book’s website. “It is a story of two resilient young women who found their voices through authenticity, connection to others, music, and apparently a lot of experimentation with psychedelics.

Tegan and Sara's unusually intense relationship with their fans was forged in the duo's early days the old fashioned way: "We'd hang out all night talking to people," Tegan Quin explains. "By the time we actually had real fans, that was how we thought you did a show." So much of their own performances involved confessional storytelling (about each other, for the most part) that it opened the door for fans to share back: "We created relationships with these people and they told us their stories." How does a bond... Read the rest of Dear Tegan and Sara: Inside the Band's Unique Bond With Fans at RollingStone.com...

Although names like Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Coldplay popped out as possible winners, voters opted for a diverse mix of pop and classic songwriting verve this year.

Who says Barbie couldn't possibly resemble a real woman? The iconic flaxen-haired doll will be the namesake of a live-action comedy sometime in the near future, according to Los Angeles Times. Production on the film will begin at the end of the year.
The film, which will be written by Jenny Bicks (Rio 2, What a Girl Wants) and produced by husband and wife Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (Men in Black 3), will draw from the mythos of Barbie in her many guises.

We can't say we have much in common with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, or the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — except for the fact that none of us can get enough Jennifer Lawrence. For the first time maybe ever, we're kind of sorry to see movie awards season go, because we've enjoyed the hell out of her say-anything media blitz. So before we bid adieu to JLaw and her mouth, we thought we'd put a couple of her characters to the Shag, Marry, or Dump test. Assuming they're the oldset trilogy versions of themselves, who do you choose between Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games), Tiffany (Silver Linings Playbook), and Raven/Mystique (The X-Men)?

When I spoke to Tegan Quin earlier this year about her and her sister Sara's new album, she promised it'd be more radio-friendly. Judging from "Closer," the first single from the as-yet-untitled set, she wasn't joking. The synth-happy, sex-ready track has a blues structure at times, and without all the tears. Tegan and Sara repeat their sweet refrains twice each, concluding they'd want their lover-to-be "underneath me." "Let's make things physical / I won't treat you like you're typical," they bop over lasers, harmonies and a Bpm that winds you up for... whatever. Aguilera, Usher, Enrique and the rest may outline...

Good morning!
How good is it, exactly? Well let's start with this music video where Leighton Meester dumps date WIlmer Valderrama for Vanessa Curry, the singer for The Nomads.
I pretty much love all of it except for the ending. It's like, why bother? Also, why are bathroom stalls so hot to get sexy in?
Bisexual model Jasmine Lennard has joined the Celebrity Big Brother house in the UK. She's apparently famous for having a fling with Simon Cowell. Ugh.

Tegan Quin helped Dan Savage answer a question about girl crushes for Savage Love this week. Here's her advice:
I'd gone most of my teens crushing on guys like Jared Leto, thinking that must make me straight. Even though secretly I was dreaming of make-outs with Claire Danes.

Pop-rock duo Tegan & Sara kicked off this new release week with a bit of nonsense. "Sainthood" hit shelves Tuesday, and boasts the hyper-catchy single "Hell"; the track, says Tegan Quin, is one of the more straight-forward, "lofty" songs she's written. Which is why the duo wanted the accompanying music video to make absolutely no sense. "We definitely did not want to do a traditional rock video," Tegan says. So the two tapped filmmaker Jamie Travis -- who also directed their clip for "Back in Your Head" -- and off they went to some rabbit-hole-like hotel room set, complete with mummies,...
