UK genre sales specialist Jinga Films has boarded husband-and-wife team Brian and Laurence Avenet-Bradley’s sci-fi horror Protos for world sales, ahead of Cannes.
The feature is written by cult horror novelist Simon Clark and produced by Mike Sharrak and the filmmakers for their US outfit Avenet Images.
It is set in a dystopian future and stars Anja Akstin, Fred Thomas Jr, Ricky Herrera and Trista Robinson as death row inmates used like lab rats by a private company seeking to revolutionise the correctional system using memory implants. Corey Landis also stars as the CEO in charge of the experiment.

On August 7, 1987, "Masters of the Universe" stank up movie theaters across the country and killed any hopes of kicking off a live-action franchise for He-Man and his merry band of heroes (the property is currently in the process of being rebooted with the help of "Thor" screenwriter Christopher Yost). As I wrote earlier this week, "MotU" actually wasn't all bad, with standouts like Frank Langella's Skeletor and Bill Conti's excellent score keeping the film just this side of unwatchable. Glory be! A happy byproduct of my online research arose in the form of a YouTube recommendation for a video entitled "The Making of Masters of the Universe the Motion Picture," which is not, as it turns out, an extra ripped from the film's DVD release but rather a segment from a 2012 documentary entitled "Toy Masters," which boasts the following synopsis on IMDb: "Filmmakers Roger Lay, Jr. and Corey Landis...

We first told you about Halcyon International Pictures preparing a slate of low budget movies based on classic movie monsters under the "Famous Monsters of Filmland" banner in 2010, but over the years things have changed a bit! Read on for the latest details.
The main change is to the name of the banner itself. Gone is the "Famous Monsters of Filmland" moniker, and in its place we have the far less snazzy name of the "Still Night Monster Movie Series."
Either way, a trailer and some new artwork are here for their first release, Dracula Reborn, which is being billed as a modern retelling of Bram Stoker’s classic novel.
Dani Lennon, Rene Arreola, Linda Bella, Corey Landis, and Stuart Rigby star. Patrick McManus directs.
Synopsis

Toy Masters

USA 2012 Fantasia imdb
This year, Fantasia doubled the number of documentaries in their Documentaries From The Edge series from five to ten. Justine has already raved about The Mechanical Bride and I intend to write very positively about Despite the Gods and My Amityville Horror when I get a chance to devote the time to the reviews that they deserve…
Toy Masters, on the other hand, is my biggest disappointment of this year’s Fantasia Festival. It’s almost not fair to review the film, it is such a work in progress. The Q&A after the film was filled with talk of extra footage that the production team were about to shoot or had just shot, “Dolph Lundgren? Yeah, he’s supposed to come to our office to film an interview in two weeks.

Two scientifically altered creatures eat up all the locals and vacationers on a small island before duking it out battle royale style for supremacy.
Let's talk about the intent behind a film like Dinocroc vs. Supergator. First off, it is not something to be token seriously or straight forward. It's the kind of entertainment that is supposed to recall all those cheesy monster movies that were produced back in the 50's. The acting is supposed to be campy. The situations are supposed to be exaggerated. The special effects are supposed to look cheap. There is supposed to be an inherent humor about how goofy the film is as a whole. And, of course, it's all supposed to be rather tacky and trashy.

Halcyon International Pictures has updated their website with word of several news small budgeted genre pics featuring alien, android, and zombie invaders, as well as updates of Dracula and The Mummy under their "Famous Monsters of Filmland" banner.
One thing is absolutely certain: Battle: Los Angeles has been a huge influence on their marketing department. Take for example a Halcyon movie titled Day 2 (original story here) that I wrote about last year which combines an alien invasion with a zombie invasion. The title has since been changed to Battle NY: Day 2.
Los Angeles is also the setting of Alien Armageddon, in case the tag line "The Battle for Los Angeles Has Begun" didn't clue you in.
"An alien race invades Earth, destroying all the major cities of the world, leaving Los Angeles as the last remaining city left to fight back."
As is annoyingly the case with Halcyon, their website...

Anchor Bay will release Dinocroc Vs. Supergator, the latest giant monster smackdown movie from legendary film impresario Roger Corman (Sharktopus), on Blu-ray and DVD on July 12.
The rumble is on in Dinocroc Vs. Supergator.
Scientist Jason Drake (the late David Carradine, Dark Fields) has been holed up deep within a secret island laboratory of an unscrupulous biotech corporation meddling with the laws of nature, as isolated scientists are wont to do. When he turns his attention from mutating fruits and vegetables to alligators, crocodiles and dinosaurs, something’s bound to grow to horrific proportions and escape—like a gargantuan crocodile and an equally humungous alligator. So, when the titular Dinocroc and Supergator get loose, the two quickly enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet of scientists, tourists, mercenaries and swimsuit models…until their inevitable showdown against each other.
Directed by genre journeyman Jim Wynorski (The Hills Have Thighs) and co-starring Corey Landis, Amy Rasimas...

Back in May we reported on the announcement that Halcyon International Pictures was preparing a slate of low budget movies based on classic movie monsters under the "Famous Monsters of Filmland" banner. What better day than Halloween to bring you word of the trailer for the first in this new horror series: Dracula: Reborn?
Dracula: Reborn is a low budget retelling of Bram Stoker's classic vampire tale transplanted to modern day Los Angeles. Victoria Summer of The Zombie Diaries stars as Mina Harker. Corey Landis, one of the stars of Dinocroc vs. Supergator, co-stars as Johnathan Harker. In the role of Dracula himself is Stuart McKenna, an actor whose most high profile credit to this day would appear to be that of a Tom Cruise look-a-like in Meet the Spartans.
