Gabrielle Union is set to star in Screen Gems’ currently untitled romantic comedy which centers around a relationship between a newly single African-American woman and a recently divorced Asian-American man. Screen Gems acquired the spec written by Chester Tam with Union attached. The project is based on his real-life romantic account. Tam wrote, directed and starred in Take The 10 for Netflix.
Union will produce the rom-com partner with Holly Shakoor-Fleischer under their I’ll Have Another label along with Tam and Trevor Engelson of Underground.
Scott Strauss and Jolene Rodriguez will oversee the project on behalf of Screen Gems.
Union was last seen on the big screen in Universal’s Breaking In crime thriller and currently stars alongside Jessica Alba in the Spectrum series, L.A.’s Finest, which was just picked up for a second season.
THR was the first to report this story.

Years before a deluge of women started speaking out about Bill Cosby’s behavior off-screen, the then-beloved comedian revealed that there were some things he didn’t find particularly funny — specifically, the web series “House of Cosbys,” an absurdist animated series created by a young Justin Roiland.
Originally produced in 2005, “House of Cosbys” was one of the first major successes for Channel 101, the screening series/digital platform created by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab. “Channel 101” featured a number of comedy stars, including Jack Black, Sarah Silverman, and The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone – while also leading to the collaboration between Harmon and Roiland that would eventually give birth to “Rick and Morty.”
It also, however, attracted the ire of Cosby, who for some reason didn’t see the humor in the show. “Cosbys” focused on Mitchell (voiced by Jeff B. Davis, who would...

Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone are comedy trio The Lonely Island. Here are just some of their finest songs and sketches...
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was – yep, it’s time to call it - the funniest film of 2016. For those who blinked a little too long and didn’t catch it on its brief appearance in UK cinemas, the DVD release is your chance to find out what you’ve missed: a hilarious parody of current pop music’s excesses that blends acerbic criticism of predatory gossip shows and social media mobs with a sweet story of three feuding rappers struggling to mend their friendship. The fact that this touching tale also features Seal fending off a pack of wolves, Justin Timberlake dressed as a fish, and a bagpiper playing a lament at a beloved pet turtle’s Viking-inspired funeral comes as no surprise...
