Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
My hunch about the higher production values for The Amityville Terror (2016) wound up being true, and whether it’s the slightly more polished look or a cast of professional actors, the sixteenth film in the “franchise” is easily the best in quite some time.
That’s grading on a scale since there are still some pretty glaring issues in the film, but, overall, director Michael Angelo has delivered a solidly entertaining Dtv film with soft callbacks to other franchise entries.
After a cold open that’s revealed to be a bracketing storyline, Amanda Barton’s screenplay quickly establishes a familiar foundation: a troubled family moves into a suspiciously cheap house on Amity Lane and the bad energy eventually manifests in murderous behavior.

World Day for Laboratory Animals, Monday April 24, commemorates the suffering of animals in laboratories worldwide, where over 100 million animals are tortured and die in research and testing.
Animal Defenders International (Adi) and celebrity supporters Mena Suvari, Alexandra Paul, Dame Joanna Lumley, and Tonya Kay are calling for positive change to end the suffering and benefit human health through the adoption of advanced non-animal methods.
Latest figures show that in the US:
0.8 million animals were used in laboratories in 2021, up 6% from 2020. This excludes tens of millions of mice and rats, who are estimated to account for 95% of all experiments. Procedures were carried out on 44,978 dogs. 71,921 primates were used, including long-tailed macaques who are now endangered in the wild principally due to their use in research. The most used species recorded were guinea pigs, rabbits and hamsters. 75,606 animals were used in “Category E” procedures, which involve pain. This means animals subjected to...

The US House of Representatives has passed (278-134) a bill to ban private possession, public contact and increase restrictions on the breeding, trade, and exploitation of big cats.
The Big Cat Public Safety Act (HR263/ S1210), sponsored by Representative Mike Quigley and Senator Richard Blumenthal, now heads to the Senate floor.
Animal Defenders International (Adi) is joined by a variety of celebrities calling on the public to support the bill, which focuses on the private ownership, trade, and breeding of certain species – it is directly aimed at backyard breeders, roadside zoos, cub petting, & photo operations – the ‘Joe Exotics’ in the US.
Captive big cats are frequently declawed, though the practice is prohibited by the Usda since 2005, and often have smashed teeth. Exhibitors rely upon physical abuse, severe confinement, and drugs to put these dangerous species in direct contact with the public, endangering both the animal and humans. This perpetuates the...

Written by Everette Wallin, Suzanne DeLaurentiis and Dale Fabrigar and directed by Fabrigar, D-Railed is a mystery set on a train that crashes into a river. The sinking train isn’t the only thing for the survivors to worry about though, because there’s a monster in the murky depths who wants some dinner, too. It’s a murder mystery on a train… but with a difference and some added horror to pump up the tension a bit.

Little Women: La’s Tonya Banks could be on the brink of a break-up from fiance Kerwin on this week’s Little Women: Couples Retreat – when she reveals she’s not sure he’s the one. The revelation comes in a sit-down with relationship expert Hasani Pettiford: “I love him but a lot of times I don’t like him.” The pair earlier in the season already revealed they had power struggles in their relationship. And that theme continues this week as Tonya talks about how Kerwin always wants things done “his way” — which she then immediately calls the “wrong way”. Meanwhile, another scene...read more...

It turns out that Terra Jole's decision to join Dancing With the Stars last season might have cost her some friends.
In Et's exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday's episode of Little Women: La, Terra finds out that her friend, Elena, doesn't want her to be the godmother to her children -- mostly because of her time on DWTS.
Watch: 'Little Women: La' Star Terra Jole Promises to 'Give Her All' on 'Dancing With the Stars'
"You have to understand why she didn't want to support you being on Dancing With the Stars," says Terra's friend, Tonya, regarding Elena's concerns. "It was taking away from your life, it was taking away from your health, it was taking away from your kids, it was taking away from your husband."
"And she [thinks] that's not the type of godparents she wants for her children," Tonya adds.

Oh my goodness, it’s only the second episode and we are already in so deep! So, here comes another episode of Little Women: La.
We jump right into Briana and Matt working out. Hilarious! Honestly, Briana looks great already. She’s got an awesome body that popped right back into pre-pregnancy shape.

It’s incredible that we are already starting the crazy world of season six! There’s going to be drama, tears and laughter … with a side of screaming because what would Little Women be without some screaming?! When we were shooting this episode, it was towards the end of my journey on Dancing with The Stars.

Slut-shaming: It’s not just for Internet message boards anymore, it’s also for juries looking to yell “Guilty!” and burn a buxom beauty at the stake.
So says Annalise Keating at the start of this week’s How to Get Away With Murder — which not only drops some knowledge about a sexual position known as “the octopus” (do we go with the definition found on Urban Dictionary or the very different one courtesy of Cosmopolitan.com?) but also raises questions about the season’s central (and possibly incestuous) defense clients, Caleb and Catherine Hapstall and leaves us with a “Whoa!
