In my PSOne playing days there were a handful of games that got constant rotation in the CD drive – Re-Volt, Pandemonium 2, No Fear Downhill Mountain Biking, World’s Wildest Police Chases, Spider-Man and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (and it’s immediate sequel). So when I heard that a HD update of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was coming to console my heart skipped a beat. After all, I loved the original games, but had they aged badly? Would a HD remake do the original “memories” justice? And would this HD remake be as bad as some of the others we’ve had recently?
Well the answer are (in order): No; Yes; No.
If you’ve played the modern iterations of the Tony Hawk franchise you’ll know just how lame the recent entries have been and it turns out that despite attempts at changing up the gameplay (such...

The younger gamer in all of us was very happy to hear the announcement that Mr Hawk was making a nostalgic come back. From the sound track to the level design, the early Tony Hawk games bring back treasured childhood memories for many, many a gamer and now they are back!
It was starting to look like developer Robomodo couldn’t do anything right. After taking the reigns of the series from Neversoft, Robomodo have produced two of the worst games in Tony Hawk’s history, in the form of Tony Hawk: Ride and Tony Hawk: Shred. The new direction for the series was based on the idea that players would want to control their skater with a plastic skateboard peripheral,...

Some new information has surfaced on the upcoming re-release of Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD. The game will be released later this summer on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, and will feature remastered levels from Tony Hawk Pro Skater one and two. The same amazing gameplay will return with a focus on gaining points through combining the best combos.
Some of the new features include a totally remastered HD upgrade of the game by Robomodo using the games original source code, seven of the most famous levels from Tony Hawk one and two, and some new refined controls; for example you can now do tricks in Tony Hawk Pro Skater levels that used to be available only in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2.
In addition, the game will include the best pro skaters from today including:
“Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins (Pastrana), Riley Hawk and,...

Activision and developer Robomodo have released a batch of screens for the HD remake/best-of the first two games in the Tony Hawk series.
Here's our first good look at Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD in screens and, if nothing else, it looks like Robomodo at least has given the downloadable title a nice bit of visual polish. The summer release (no firm date yet) will be hitting Psn and Xbla and was unveiled during the VGAs as an attempt to get away from the story-driven, more absurd elements of the later Tony Hawk titles. So no riding around in a hot dog costume pulling pranks, it would seem.
Also, if there's no Spider-Man skin in this, I'm going to be very disappointed and/or surprised.
From the press release:

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD will be released on digital platforms in 2012. Tony Hawk revealed at the Spike Video Game Awards that the new title will take levels from the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games and render them in high definition. The game will feature a range of professional skaters, including Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins (Pastrana), Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole and Riley Hawk, as well as Tony himself. Robomodo will develop the game with standard controller support in mind. Recent entries in the series have used motion peripherals, which received a lukewarm reception from critics. (more)...

Travis Pastrana won't be making his debut in the Nascar Nationwide Series as planned. The 27-year-old motocross star has to withdraw from the race at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis this Saturday, July 30 after breaking bones in his right foot and ankle at the X Games in Los Angeles.
"We can't wait to get him healed and in our race cars," said Michael Waltrip, the team owner of Michael Waltrip Racing. "We talked to our sponsor Boost Mobile and agreed to withdraw from Indy and delay our debut. We've waited a long time for someone like Travis Pastrana. I guess we'll just have to wait a little bit longer."
On the decision to delay Travis' debut, Michael later told reporters, "It was an easy decision to make, just disappointing. The main thing is Travis' health." He further suggested that the X Games gold medalist is likely to make his debut...

Travis Pastrana has gotten himself engaged to longtime girlfriend Lyn-z Adams Hawkins. The X Games gold medalist got down on one knees to ask the female skateboarder's hand in marriage during Nitro Circus Live, an exhibition motocross event held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, June 4.
The daredevil motocross rider interrupted the in-house announcer for the surprise proposal after Lyn-z rolled down the Giganta Ramp and slid out on her landing. "Sorry to interrupt the show, everyone, but I have to do something. My family is here and the love of my life is standing down there," he said as pointing down at his girlfriend from the top of the ramp.
After sliding down the ramp, Travis said, "Lyn-z, will you marry me?" As Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love" played on, he handed Lyn-z a plastic coin purse shaped like a cupcake containing the engagement ring.

Daredevil motocross rider Travis Pastrana performed his best trick yet last weekend - he pulled a ring out of his pocket. The star of MTV's Nitro Circus proposed to longtime girlfriend Lyn-z Adams Hawkins in Las Vegas during an exhibition motocross event on Saturday night. As the event kicked off, Pastrana - clad in his motocross outfit - interrupted the in-house announcer to thank everyone for being there. He then referred to Hawkins as "the love of my life" before proposing to her (where else?) on a motorcycle ramp. Immediately after the proposal, Elvis's "Can’t Help Falling In Love...
