After several rumors, Variety officially confirmed Guy Ritchie will direct the sequel to 2024's Road House.

Road House is a remake of the 1989 classic of the same name starring Patrick Swayze. Although the movie received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience, it ended up being a major success, and Amazon hurried to greenlight a sequel. The first entry has 60% from the critics, just barely holding on to a "fresh" badge, and 52% from the audience on the Popcornmeter.

Apple TV+’s Shrinking is adding an Emmy winner to its season three cast.

Jeff Daniels will guest-star in the comedy’s third season, playing Jimmy’s (Jason Segel) father. The two-time Emmy winner joins a cast that also includes Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley; co-creator Brett Goldstein recurred in season two.

Details of how Jimmy’s dad enters the show are being kept quiet for now. Season two ended with Jimmy forgiving the drunk driver (Goldstein) who caused the accident that left him widowed — and himself for how he had previously handled his relationship with his daughter, Alice (Lukita Maxwell).

“You want Jimmy to get to the point where he would leave it all behind for Alice, including his therapy practice and all that,” Segel told The Hollywood Reporter when season two concluded. “I think that’s what makes it the primary relationship.

The actor will appear in the series’ upcoming third season, which was originally announced in October 2024. Daniels will appear in a guest star role as Jimmy’s (Jason Segel) father. This will be the latest TV role for Daniels in the past several years. Co-created by Segel, Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, Shrinking follows grieving therapist Jimmy (Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives … including his own.

In a guest arc, Daniels will play Jimmy’s father.

This marks a return to comedy for Daniels, who has worked primarily on the drama side over the past decade since the 2014 sequel to his signature comedy film with Jim Carrey, Dumb and Dumber. Shrinking is Daniels’ first major live-action comedy series role.

The show returned for its second season last October, and it looks like things will be different, not just for Ford but for the show as a whole.

According to reports, the veteran actor was diagnosed with the illness yesterday, leading him to nix the appearance as of this morning. Shingles, caused by the same virus as chickenpox known as varicella-zoster virus, is an infection that leads to a painful rash. Per the Mayo Clinic, shingles is not life-threatening and is a reactivation of chickenpox, given that the virus stays in the body for the rest of one’s life.

Hollywood legend Harrison Ford will not be presenting at the 2025 Oscars this weekend after being diagnosed with shingles. Entertainment Weekly confirmed the news, reporting that the 82-year-old actor is resting and recovering.

Ford received the diagnosis yesterday and decided to step down from his presenting duties this morning.

The event, hosted by Kristen Bell and streamed live on Netflix, kicked off with its traditional “I Am an Actor” introduction, where stars share stories about their journeys in Hollywood. Williams started her speech by saying, “Los Angeles is known as the city of dreams, and sure enough, all my dreams have come true here.”
