Zachary Levi isn’t giving up on the movie followup to his NBC series Chuck, and he says creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak are on board.
Levi starred in the spy dramedy from 2007 to 2012 as Chuck Bartowski, an average guy who was dragged into the world of the the CIA and Nsa to take on dangerous criminals and other threats. He’s been campaigning for an expansion of the Chuck universe since the show ended, but he recently said on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show that it might actually be coming to fruition.
“I’ve been trying to make a Chuck movie since before we even finished the show. I saw the writing on the wall, I saw a lot of the streaming stuff starting to pop up. I saw a lot of like, well, people are doing, you know, like, you know, Zach Braff, I think was crowdfunding.

Another Memorial Day weekend come and gone, and here we are: summer has begun. Temperatures are rising all over the place, and you might have trouble finding comfort, let alone sleep, with all the humidity. You could make like the olden days and take to the air-conditioned cinema houses to beat the heat. With fairy tales, horror flicks, historical epics and more, there’s plenty of material to keep you in that ice-cold seat, eyes glued to the screen. Take note, however: the gore/scare factor is high this week; these movies probably won’t help you sleep at night.
The second Snow White flick of the year hits theaters this weekend, offering a much darker, gothic take on the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale than its predecessor. Rupert Sanders helms “Snow White and the Huntsman,” in which the titular Snow White (Kristen Stewart) and Hunky Hunter (Chris Hemsworth) join forces...

To not much surprise, NBC has decided to renew Chuck for a fourth season. Despite sagging ratings, it's still one of the network's best performing hour-long shows in the targeted demo.
Chuck follows a geeky electronics store employee (Zachary Levi) whose life is turned upside down when a database of top secret government information is downloaded into his brain. The series cast includes Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay, and Julia Ling.
This year, the ratings started out with a 2.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 7.45 million viewers. That's good, especially for NBC. Unfortunately, they've fallen quite a bit over the season. This week's episode of Chuck hit a new low with 5.324 million viewers and an unfortunately consistent 1.9 rating in the demo.

(S03E16) This was an episode that was chock full of material and a lot of guest stars. We had Shaw, played by Brandon Routh (proving that death doesn't necessarily stop a returning guest star, kind of like with 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'). We also had Julia Ling return as Anna Wu (read her TV Squad interview here) as well as former time-traveling scientist and cab driver Christopher Lloyd as a C.I.A. psychiatrist.
The episode's problem was that it was a bit of a mish-mosh with the guest stars not getting any appreciable amount of screen time (well, maybe Christopher Lloyd, but certainly not the other two).

Tonight’s episode of NBC’s “Chuck” will see the return of a familiar hottie. Julia Ling, who played Anna Wu, will reprise her role as the Buy More hottie and former love interest of Morgan Grimes (Joshua Gomez). Anna comes back to Burbank after leaving Morgan for a Benihama chef. Check out this interview with Ling where she reveals some interesting things about her character:
Q: Julia, it’s so good to have you back! So where has Anna been, what has she been up to…?
A: Anna’s been in Hawaii, doing inappropriate things with the Benihana chef which shall not be discussed. [Laughs]
Q: Does she still possess her unique sense of style?
A: She’s got this sexy tan going, so she comes back with that – a really awesome tan.
Q: Is Morgan chilly to her? And if so, is he a fast thaw?

A new episode, entitled Chuck Vs. The Tooth, airs tonight at 8/7c on NBC. When Chuck experiences alarming nightmares, Gen. Beckman forces him to see CIA psychologist Leo Dreyfus (guest star Christopher Lloyd). Meanwhile, Ellie receives big news; and Anna (Julia Ling) returns to the Buy More and reaches out to Morgan. Doc Brown! This show has the best geek-friendly guest stars. Also nice to see Anna back.

On Monday, May 10, 'Chuck' fans will get a pleasant surprise when one of the prettiest Nerd-Herders of all time, Anna Wu, returns to the Burbank Buy More to tie up some loose ends.
When last seen, Anna had taken a leap of faith and moved to Hawaii with Morgan so he could follow his dream of being a Benihana chef. When Morgan returned to California at the beginning of this season, Anna -- alas -- was not with him.
Actress Julia Ling spoke with TV Squad about her guest turn, and what Anna's got on her mind. She even shared her dream for a future film role with her idol. Who is her idol, you wonder? Well, let's just say he's someone who would make her day.

Rather, my spies spy a Chuck pickup. And really, isn’t that better?
Multiple sources confirm that NBC is expected to do the right thing and renew the action comedy for a fourth season. Per one insider, the show has thus far figured into all of the network’s preliminary plans for its May 17 upfront presentation.
Although a 13-episode pickup is the most likely scenario, my moles suggest that there’s also chance the show could be given a full season order.
An NBC rep had no comment. Series creator Josh Schwartz, meanwhile, says not to believe the hype. Renewal?...

After a "game-changing" episode this week, "Chuck" will be back with a more laid back episode on April 26. Called "Chuck Versus the Honeymooner", it follows Chuck and Sarah who ride on the same train as the Basque terrorist Juan Diaz Arnaldo.

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up and be a secret agent overnight? As the titular lead of the television show Chuck, Chuck Bartowski would probably say it’s not so nice, but he’s had his fair share of adventure and lady love.

Departures DVD - Review
The fact that this film beat out Waltz with Bashir and The Class at last year’s Academy Awards should be an indication of how good Departures really is. Not saying it should be a sticker on its box cover but it is a compelling fact on top of the one that this is really that good.
For those who need the CliffsNotes version of the story it is thus: A talented musician/father, Daigo (Masahiro Motoki), takes solace in his music as a professional cellist.

Chicago – After a second season that saw already-low ratings decline, NBC took a chance by bringing “Chuck” back for a third, shortened season. As the network has struggled this year due to a number of horrible decisions (most of them related to Jay Leno), most of its lineup has been hit. Let’s hope “Chuck” bucks the trend because this cult hit has arguably never been better.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
The second of “Chuck,” recently released on DVD (which we’ll get into in more detail later), felt a bit like a show spinning its wheels. The series failed to pick up any new fans and lost a few, although I imagine a number of “Chuck” fans are watching in that space that doesn’t get reflected in ratings - On Demand, online, etc. No matter the reason for the ratings slide, “Chuck” needs to grab fans quickly with the third...

With only a few days to go before the triumphant return of Chuck to the airwaves, Warner Home Video has today released the fantastic Chuck: The Complete Second Season on DVD and Blu-ray. While its first season was sadly truncated to the writers strike, Season Two of Chuck found its footing amid a glorious mix of genre-busting action, intrigue, romance, and workplace comedy. While the series' first season nicely set up the universe of Chuck, introducing its core troika of spies and the soul-crushing monotony of retail work, the second season expanded upon those ideas, taking the series to dizzying new heights while remaining grounded and relatable. (Who among us wouldn't jump at the chance to escape the drudgery of minimum wage and spend time with super-spies?) Broadening out the world created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, Season Two of Chuck pushed hapless asset Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi...

After last year’s “Save Chuck” campaign, it seems as if Chuck is riding high. With a 19-episode commitment (up’d from the original order commitment of 13) and a January 10 premiere date (up’d from its original March premiere), the only thing missing was a preview of the new season. That’s right, I said “was.”
With January right around the corner, NBC has already begun the Chuck promotion machine (maybe Fox can learn a thing or two) with a four minute look the upcoming third season and the only thing I can say to that is; “Yes!” and “Thank You!.”
Now, before we get to the clip, let’s talk about what to expect from the new season.
Anna Wu (Julia Ling) is officially gone in Season 3 In the season premiere, Chuck and Sarah will be in a three month spy training program while Chuck’s sister believes they’re vacationing in Europe.

In other words, it would be a two-night and three-hour premiere in January. However, "Chuck" will be pre-empted for the Olympics on February 15 and 22.
Zachary Levi appeared in the third season preview, thanking loyal fans of their support that keep him in the job. He also...

NBC's action-comedy now needs to be a leaner, mean kung fu-fighting machine. Will that bit of belt-tightening result in less of the Buy More crowd?
Vik Sahay, who plays Buy More employee Lester, tackles that question in his TVGuide.com video Q&A — but his outlook is far from bleak.

• Who gave Vik the good news about Chuck's pick-up, and how did he react?
• Why does Chuck strike such an emotional chord with viewers?
• What was Vik's take on the season finale's game-changing twist?
• Will Sarah leave the Orange Orange to sell subs for Subway? And might Lester be at her side?

As expected, the peacock network has announced that Chuck will be returning for a third season. But, as has become a trend in the industry, there will be a few concessions.
NBC has worked out a deal with Warner Bros. for 13 installments of the Zachary Levi series. As part of that agreement, there have been significant budget cutbacks.
The show's writing staff is expected to be reduced and two scribes are expected to be let go. In addition, several castmembers won't be appearing in all of the episodes -- Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Bonita Friedericy, and/or Sarah Lancaster? EW's Michael Ausiello has heard that one actor may be eliminated from the cast altogether, possibly Julia Ling.
NBC is expected to release its full schedule tomorrow. As of now, it looks like Chuck will be landing on Friday nights at 8pm in the Fall. Another of NBC's "discounted" series,...

On the heels that Fox has renewed Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse for a second, albeit shorter season (with budget cuts), NBC is following suit by renewing the fan favorite (but lowly rated) Chuck for a third season, according to Entertainment Weekly. But just as Whedon’s Dollhouse will return to the airwaves with a shorten season and noticeable cuts, so too will Chuck. Sources are telling EW that Chuck’s third season will initially consist of 13 episodes, and it will be returning with a trimmed budget that may spell the death of a cast regular (EW speculates it could be Anna Wu, played by Julia Ling), as well as slashing two writing jobs from the staff. But hey, that’s the bad news. The good news is that Chuck will return for a third season, and this time — Chuck knows kung fu!

Question: Is it true that the character of Anna Wu on Chuck is bisexual? ... I'm a sucker for bi women in sci-fi shows, so I'm wondering if this one should be on my radar.
— Sarah
Answer: Yes, Buy More employee Anna — played by Julia Ling — is bisexual, although it's understandable if you missed it: Anna's bisexuality has only been referenced once so far, in the first season when Anna quipped "speak for yourself!" to a comment from Morgan about none of them having sex with a beautiful woman. It's also referenced again in next week's episode.

Chuck</i>" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />Where in the world is Anna Wu? Chuck fans have asked where she's been hiding, and we found her. Following a few conspicuous absences from the Buy More staff meetings, Julia Ling reveals where her sassy salesgirl has been, and what she's up to in the coming weeks. (NBC's Chuck airs Mondays at 8m pm/Et.) TVGuide.com: First off, I want to apologize. In last week's Mega Buzz column, I said that you had been "Wu-fully underused" this season, prompting one reader to tell me that my comment was "very offensive" and full of "prejudice."
Julia Ling: That was you?! My publicist sent me that article, and I wrote her back to say that whoever wrote that was so funny! I even sent that along to one of my writer friends to say, "This is the kind of stuff that I love."

Four more actors have joined the cast of High School, the indie that puts the ‘high’ into, erm, ‘high school’.Matt Bush will play a high school valedictorian who smokes pot for the first time, only to find that – uh-oh alert! – the school’s mandatory drug test is the very next day. That’s not good planning.Yeardley Smith – the voice of Lisa from The Simpsons! – will play a teacher, while Camille Mana and Julia Ling will play Bush’s fellow students. They join the already-cast Adrien Brody, as a drug dealer (perhaps even the fellow who sells Bush the illegal reefer pot marijuana product), and Michael Chiklis as the school principal. John Stalberg will direct the movie, from a script by Stephen Susco.

The annual Paley Festival keeps chugging along down in Los Angeles. We told you about the Pushing Daisies panel earlier this week, and today we're going to fill you in on last night's Chuck panel, featuring the cast and creative minds behind Nbc's hit freshman dramedy (I know lots of you hate the term “dramedy” and I only use it to anger you. So, you're welcome). Though Chuck isn't coming back with any new episodes this season, the team is preparing for a full slate starting in Fall 2008, and production is set to begin in May.
Interestingly, Lost co-show runner Damon Lindelof moderated the panel. Mus be a fan of the show. The panel consisted of: Zachary Levi (Chuck), Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah), Joshua Gomez (Morgan), Adam Baldwin (Casey), Scott Krinsky (Jeff), Mark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike), Julia Ling (Anna), Ryan McPartlin (Captain Awesome), Vik Sahay (Lester), Josh Schwartz (show runner...
