“90210” and “Hawaii Five-o” have recently been rebooted (and am I the only one who remembers “Knight Rider 2000”?), the second take of “Charlie’s Angels” just announced their cast, and now it is time to meet the first new member of the cast of TNT’s upcoming revamp of “Dallas”. Jordana Brewster, of “The Fast and the Furious” fame, is set to star in the pilot. This isn’t simply going to be a reimagining of the steamy prime-time soap that ran from 1978 to 1991. Brewster is going to be part of the younger, sexier generation of the greedy, spoiled Ewing family. “Dallas” veterans Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray are going to return to their roles as Bobby and Sue Ellen, and Larry Hagman has reportedly stated that he intends to return as the tyrannical J.R. The pilot, from writer Cynthia Cidre and Warner Horizon, centers on the offspring of bitter rivals and brothers J.

Screenwriter Cynthia "Mambo Kings" Cidre will script TNT's update of the TV series "Dallas", to be produced in association with Warner Horizon. Warner Bros. TV owns rights to "Dallas" through their 1989 acquisition of producer Lorimar Television. Feature rights are owned by New Regency.
"Dallas" premiered on CBS in 1978, ending after 13 seasons.
The show's central character is 'John Ross "J.R." Ewing Jr'., a greedy, scheming oil baron.
Creator David Jacobs originated the idea about a wealthy family in the oil business known for their riches, sex, intrigue and power struggles, ending each season with ratings-grabbing cliffhangers, including the landmark "Who shot J.R.?" episode in 1980.
Dallas was eventually translated and dubbed into 67 languages in 90 countries.

Cynthia Cidre has been tapped to write TNT's new take on "Dallas," the first major development for the project that had been rumored for a couple of months.
The network and Warner Horizon, which is producing the series, are refusing to discuss its story line.
The initial idea was to have the series revolve around J.R. and Sue Ellen's son John Ross and Bobby and Pam's adopted son Christopher, but the studio and the network are waiting for Cidre's take on the Ewing clan and want to read her script before making a decision.
Patrick Duffy, who played Bobby in the original series, Larry Hagman (J.R.) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen) were approached two months ago about potentially reprising their roles. There are no talks between the actors and Warner Horizon, and a rep for the studio said the three "may or may not be part of" the new series.
