Roman Gabriel, who still holds the Los Angeles Rams team record with 154 touchdown passes, died Saturday at his home in Little River, South Carolina, at 83. His death came from natural causes, according to his son, Roman Gabriel III.
Gabriel was the No. 2 draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 1962 out of North Carolina State. He was the first Filipino-American quarterback in the NFL and the league Mvp in 1969.
He played in four Pro Bowl games, three with the Rams in the late 1960s and another with the Eagles in 1973. But he reached the postseason only twice, and his Rams were eliminated in the first round both times.
“We mourn the loss of Rams legend and football pioneer, Roman Gabriel,” the Rams said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As Jon Gruden rumors continue to swirl, a new source has stepped forth to deny claims that the fact his former Tampa Bay Buccaneers staff have joined the Dallas Cowboys means he'll soon follow. Monte Kiffin, Ron Marinelli, Rich Bisaccia and Bill Callahan have all recently joined the Cowboys' coaching lineup, which caused many to believe that Gruden would soon follow.
"Response from reliable team source when I asked if TB glory-days asst. coaches being hired in Dallas meant Gruden on way: 'Ridiculous,'" Espn's Ed Werder has tweeted.
This is just the latest rumor attached to Gruden's alleged return to coaching to swirl recently. Though he has shot down a claim that he'll take a coaching job with the Tennessee Volunteers, a recent report stated he's trying to get back into coaching after all. Gruden currently acts as an Espn analyst. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired him in 2008.

Taken in a vacuum, the bulk of Monday night's (October 11) NFL game between the New York Jets and the visiting Minnesota Vikings was pretty dull. For most of the game, the Jets quietly dominated the line of scrimmage and played stout defense while their offense had trouble getting into a groove (they mostly settled for field goals). But luckily, the internal drama unfolding within the game's four quarters made it one of the most entertaining and enthralling game on the sports landscape this year. Ultimately, the Jets topped the Vikings 29-20, but there's more to the game than the score.
There were plenty of story lines coming into the game, as Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss was making his return to the team after being traded from the New England Patriots, while Jets receiver Santonio Holmes was returning from a drug-related suspension. The Jets were also welcoming back cornerback Darelle Revis,...

Movie director Steven Spielberg is a serious games fan with an in-depth knowledge of the industry, claims senior producer of Bloom Blox Amir Rahimi.
Speaking at a Nintendo media event in San Francisco, Rahimi said: "I was actually pretty surprised to find out how much of a gamer Steven Spielberg is. He - regularly, when we meet with him - makes references to games that a lot of us game developers haven't played or haven't played in years. But also recent games, like Crysis, he talks a lot about."
The renowned Jaws director, who is working with Ea on a number of video games, including Wii title Bloom Blox, is said to regularly attend office meetings to work on the game, despite his commitment to the new Indiana Jones film.
