It’s all about the color red for the 7th day of Creepmas; blood red, to be precise. Bloody Disgusting’s 12 Days of Creepmas continues the holiday horror revelry, this time with holiday slashers that aim to paint the snow red with arterial spray and carnage. These holiday slashers demonstrate that there’s more to the realm of holiday slashers than killer Santas with a variety of Yuletide killers, from lonely security guards to mutated murderous snowmen. Save for one feel-good slasher to kick things off, today’s Creepmas offerings mainly capture the grimmer side of the holidays.
The 12 Days of Creepmas continues on Bloody Disgusting, this time with 7 holiday set slashers to paint the snow blood red.
Keep track of the 12 Days of Creepmas here.

Christmas Books That Were Turned Into Movies ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Not everyone likes reading books. It demands a big chunk of your time and a lot of concentration. And come on, let’s be real, why bother when you can easily watch a two-hour movie adaptation that covers all the important scenes and leaves out all the fillers? Besides, even for the most avid book readers, diving into Christmas-themed books might not be very high up on their list of holiday priorities. So, what better way to fill in that book void on Christmas than by watching some Christmas films based on books?
Here are 5 holiday-themed books that were turned into movies.
1. The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)
“The Man Who Invented Christmas” is a Charles Dickens biographical film based on a book written by Les Standiford. It was released on November 22, 2017, in Canada and was directed by Bharat Nalluri. It stars Dan Stevens,...

Disney is well-known for its sea of Christmas releases. Dive into the magic of the season with these wholesome ones ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Disney is known for taking Christmas time very seriously. They go all out with their Christmas special releases and their Holiday-themed movies, and all of them end up being very well-received by the public. Here are five of the best Disney Christmas movies to enjoy with your family and add a touch of that magic to the holiday season.
1. Lady And The Tramp (1955)

The best way to enjoy the holiday season? Take some guilty pleasure in these fun rom-coms! Some of these will warm you up inside out. ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Romantic comedies with a holiday or Christmas theme have always been enjoyable. There’s a certain flair to them. They’ve always been a trend and are almost on par with classic holiday films like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Even better now — with streamers like Hallmark and Netflix, we have mass production of rom-coms and almost each one ends up being more enjoyable than the other — think “Love is in the Air” or perhaps Emma Robert’s “Holidate.” So, if you’ve run out of rom-coms to enjoy this holiday season, we’ve got you covered.

As temperatures plummet and blankets of snow envelop the landscape, winter horror movies become the perfect escape for those seeking thrills intertwined with the frosty air. Within this chilly realm, we find a particular sub-genre that harmonizes the starkness of winter with the dread of the cold-blooded killer – figures defined by their emotionless, relentless pursuit of victims, often leaving a trail as chilling as the season itself. These ruthless antagonists embody the essence of winter horror movies, their actions mirroring the merciless bite of the colder months.
From snowy suspense to icy massacres, let’s explore the top films where the winter season and heartless homicidal villains provide a double dose of fright.

All Jack Frost Films Ever Made(Photo Credit –IMDb)
Santa Claus is and will always be the face of Yuletide. He’s an old, polite, white-bearded man who gives everyone gifts; what’s not to love there? So, it is safe to say no one can replace the good old Santa Claus. However, there are some Christmas figures that do not nearly get as much love from the world as Santa, despite being as interesting, if not more, than Father Christmas. One such character is Jack Frost.
While technically not a ‘Christmas figure,’ Jack Frost has always been associated with the festival. He’s essentially the face of winter, the personification of cold, and the guy who gives everyone the frosty fingers and snowed-in days. The first recorded mention of Jack Frost in literature was in 1734 in a book called “Round About Our Coal Fire, or Christmas Entertainments.”

Back when video shops and horror aisles were still common, it was hard not to be creeped out by the classic box art for The Fear. Wooden antagonist Morty attacks onlookers with his unrelenting stare. The tagline “He’s Whatever Scares You The Most” is as intriguing as it is foreboding. And while this 1990s horror oddball has found itself a fanbase over the years — albeit a small one — its sequel continues to go unnoticed. A lot of folks don’t even know it exists to begin with.
Not too long after Morty’s debut, someone gave the mannequin a killer makeover. Whether or not the update was an improvement is arguable, and reviews of this sequel are indeed more negative than that of the original. However, The Fear: Halloween Night has at least one thing its predecessor doesn’t: a clearer sense of identity.

It's kind of baffling that "The Santa Clause" is one of those franchises that's still going on today. It feels like something we should be talking about in hushed whispers. Like, "Hey, remember that Disney movie where Tim Allen commits manslaughter against Santa Claus and then undergoes a Cronenbergian physical transformation into Jolly Old St. Nick after inadvertently entering a contractual agreement to take his place? The '90s were wild, man." To be fair, I'm sure even Allen had no idea he would still be playing the cynical toy marketing director turned fabled gift-giver Scott Calvin almost 30 years after starring in the original "Santa Clause".
Yet, here we are in 2023, with season 2 of the Disney+ sequel series "The Santa Clauses" right around the corner. Season 1, much like the feature-length "Santa Clause" sequels before it, was far from a critical darling, but it absolutely has its supporters and brought in...

American animation is in an odd place. For creators, directors, and animators, the overriding cultural stigma against animation — that it's just for kids — probably provides a great deal of frustration. That's a joke even the Oscars make. It's a perception that limits the medium and reduces any potentially heady thematic material to something bland and easily digestible. Any material directed towards adults shifts into a mélange of innuendo and pop culture references, and children are condescended to in much the same way.
But even the movies that seem tailor-made for children's sensibilities get lost in the shuffle sometimes. 2012's "Rise of the Guardians," for instance, had a slam-dunk premise and an epic scale. It was a movie that took the fears of children seriously while also providing wildly entertaining set pieces, with beautiful animation and a star-studded cast. And yet, according to The Numbers, it didn't even make its production budget back domestically.

The holidays are upon us! There’s Christmas cheer all around as Jack Frost nips at our noses. Though in this week’s episode of Madam Secretary, there’s no time to be merry and bright. I am on the secretary’s side when she said that the holiday party is a charade to execute a political agenda and to feed rich people. That, and she, like myself, is not much of a party person. On the other hand, this party served its purpose. Elizabeth got the necessary votes for the Calgary Treaty on Land Mines. On top of that, Henry and his team

EW has a couple of first look photos from the set of the new Starz show American Gods, which is based on Neil Gaiman's popular novel of the same name. The story follows an ex-con named Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) as he becomes a bodyguard/driver for the mysterious Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), a member of the old gods caught in a battle with newer, younger gods who represent things like technology and media. (The gods gain their power through belief, like Santa, Jack Frost, etc. in the animated movie Rise of the Guardians, so the old gods are becoming an endangered species.)
The photos show Shadow facing off against a drunk leprechaun named Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber, who may be best known for playing Pornstache on Orange is the New Black) in a bar as Mr. Wednesday watches, amused, from the sidelines. I haven't seen any of the show yet (it doesn't premiere until 2017), but I feel like Schreiber is wildly miscast in that role. Hopefully executive producer Bryan Fuller knew what he was doing when he cast him; the rest of the cast — including Emily Browning as Shadow's wife, Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy, and Gillian Anderson as Media, just to name a few — seem pretty spot-on.
I was excited by the premise but let down by the book. Have you read it? What did you think, and what do you think about the show's look so far?...

Christmas is not exactly a holiday that you would typcially associate with the genre yet it's a time of the year that often produces plenty of horror entertainment. For some twisted reason the festive season can be a brilliantly effective backdrop for horror with classic movies such as 'Black Christmas', 'Silent Night, Deadly Night', 'Jack Frost', 'Rare Exports', 'Gremlins' all using Christmas and Christmas-related themes to bring their horrific tales to life....

Ah, Christmas. The one time of year where cynicism is hung up at the door and even the most jaded of us (the Inside Out emotion at my controls is Contempt) can enjoy a dose of idealistic sentimentality. Maybe it’s the cold mixed with a good lining of mulled wine, but I do love a good Christmas movie – Scrooge, Elf, Miracle On 34th Street and especially It’s A Wonderful Life are essential festive viewing.
But every now and then, in amongst all the wishing and believing, it’s good to be reminded of the less cheery parts of the holiday; consumerism, disgruntled relatives, deadly demons – y’know, the darker traditions. And, refreshingly, Krampus brings those two sides together in wonderful B-movie fashion.

Sure, we’ve got Black Christmas, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Santa’s Slay and uh…Jack Frost, but the holiday season isn’t exactly known for it’s plethora of horror films. Most of the Christmas-themed horror films aren’t of the highest quality, anyway. If you love Black Christmas and Friday the 13th, then Slasher Studios’ […]...

It’s almost July and that means Netflix is about to give their content a refresh. Some of the notable titles leaving include: Super Troopers, Descent, and The Muppets take Manhattan. So if you haven’t seen some of these titles, plan your nights accordingly. We of course can look forward more than a few new titles including the premiere of Bojack Horseman’s second season (voiced by Will Arnett) and one of my favorite movies Alive, pictured above.
We also get the return of Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp; the eight-episode series is a prequel to Wain’s 2001 film Wet Hot American Summer. The series will launch July 31.
Available July 1
Alive (1993)
An Honest Liar (2014)

Want to revisit "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" before "Terminator: Genisys" opens? Better do it before July 1, when Netflix says "Hasta la vista" to the 1991 sequel.
If you have a hankering to watch "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Moonstruck," "Cast Away," or "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," get on it, because those are also disappearing in July.
And start marathoning these TV classics before they go poof: "Leave it to Beaver," "Dragnet," "Mission: Impossible," "Hawaii Five-o," "Magnum P.I.," "Miami Vice," "Knight Rider," "Melrose Place" and "Wings." Also bid goodbye to the Stephen King miniseries "The Stand" (1994) and "The Langoliers" (1995).
Below is a complete list of the movies that Netflix is pulling from your streaming list. And, just so you're not left empty-handed, here's a list of what's new on Netflix in July 2015. (All titles and dates provided by Netflix and subject to change.)

Here at Shadowlocked, we're fans of crowd-funding projects, as well as anything awesome. And few things say 'just plain awesome' as well as 'red panda samurai comic book'. It's even written by J.S. Skye, who shares his name with one of the best characters on Marvel's Agents of Shield. This project is almost a perfect example of The Lego Movie's song Everything is Awesome.
(Okay, technically samurai warriors had a strange code of honour which seemed to incorporate little regard for human life; the glorification of which hamstrings Ed Zwick's otherwise excellent film The Last Samurai. But let's not quibble. It's a red panda we're talking about. There's no way he's not the hero.)
With the likes of Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2, not to mention Rocket Raccoon from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, now is the perfect time for a red panda samurai warrior comic book. Of course,...

Since the turn of the new millennium, the world has been given the gift of some truly remarkable films. Unfortunately, this hasn't necessarily extend into the realm of holiday movies. Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - they all came out before the year 2000, and only a handful of classics have been released that could rival their status as seasonal staples.

A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, these are all holiday classics that have been enjoyed for generations. But isn't it time for a change?

Good morning, welcome to December and the beginning of the end of the year. As ever, this means chestnuts roasting on an open fire and Jack Frost nipping at your nose to most people, but for those of us in the film blogging world, it means ferocious list-making, stock-taking and retrospective analysis. Over the coming days and weeks, we’ll be bringing you a wide selection of year-end features looking at 2014 in depth from a variety of different angles. To kick off, we’re starting with Best Scores of 2014, an area traditionally somewhat overlooked (though not by us, here’s last year’s list) but one that we particularly love to assess in some depth. The first of our Best of 2014 features is also the first time we’re really settling in to argue the toss on the year now ending, so this piece also sets a kind of marker for what’s to come.

One would never imagine Santa Claus as…..a private eye.
From the mind of television/video game writer Jeremy Bernstein, he wrote a comic book series about a supernatural Santa Claus moonlighting as a detective in this film noir-inspired series.
Here’s the synopsis:
A modern day noir, in which a down-and-out Saint Nick spends the Other 364 days of the year holding his own in the lonely city, just another average jake trying to make ends meet. He’s traded the red and white suit for a trenchcoat and fedora, traded the North Pole for back alleys and rain-slicked streets. Instead of days filled with jolly elves and hand-made toys, it’s long, dark nights filled with gangster, guns, and femme fatales… and the nicer they look, the naughtier they are.
When the wealthy, widowed Julia Barton hires Nick to find out who murdered her husband, it could be the...

Even though Joe Lynch has abandoned straightforward horror in order to make more action-centric adventures, the filmmaker’s genre love stills finds a way into any project he tackles. His latest offering, Everly, may present itself as a contained survival story at first glance, but once the gore kicks in and insides start finding their way outside, Lynch’s horror mentalities once again make themselves known. This is one of the factors that makes Everly more than just a Salma Hayek vessel with guns and explosions, and one of the main reasons I gave Lynch’s film a favorable review coming out of Fantastic Fest.
In between the countless screenings and flurry of milkshakes, I managed to sit down with Lynch to talk about his new film, but the conversation evolved into much more. Starting off with a few questions about Everly, Lynch revealed who was originally cast in Salma Hayek’s role,...

If you don't know the name Shane Berryhill, don't worry, you will.
In 2006, he made his professional debut with Chance Fortune and the Outlaws. The story followed the adventures of a young Tennessee boy who was trained by a former hero (think Terry McGinnis and Bruce Wayne) in order to enter an academy for superheroes.
While the idea is nothing new, it was so well-written that it spawned at least two small literary awards and an interest in Hollywood for franchise opportunities. Unfortunately, nothing became of the offers and Chance Fortune's brief existence as a series ended with the publication of the second book, Chance Fortune in the Shadow Zone (as of this writing, the third and presumably final book in the series is scheduled for publication).
In recent years, Shane has been keeping himself busy with single novel stories including Dragon Island and The Long Silent Night: A Jack Frost Mystery.

It is no secret that the genre of horror is saturated, like a wet diaper, with films that should never really have been made, films that are so bad they’re, well, bad. I know that sometimes a film is made that is often a train-wreck yet manages to be entertaining, but surrounding those films exists a bunch of motion picture atrocities that fail on all levels, and those are the films I’ll be looking at in this column. Now, you might not agree with the films I mention here, you might even be a fan of some of them, and that’s fine, this is merely my personal opinions on what I feel are the true horror’s of the horror genre, the poison in the water supply that made me, when I saw them, want to Linda Blair my guts against the nearest wall. These are in...

Having grown up in the '80s, I hold a special place in my heart for creature features. Gremlins was a gateway drug to Critters and Ghoulies. I've chased down titles like Arachnophobia, Jack Frost, Black Sheep and Piranha Part Two: The Spawning, all for the practical effects and puppets that were both creepy and funny. So, I was pretty stoked for Zombeavers to hit the Tribeca Film Festival with its promise of blood-drenched puppets and outrageousness. But there's something crucial missing here that keeps it from being as fun as the titles that served as the centerpieces to slumber parties and Diy midnight movie marathons. The directorial debut of Crank Yankers's writer Jordan Rubin, Zombeavers begins in the familiar setting of a rural cabin that sits beside a seemingly placid lake. This is the isolated vacation spot where college co-eds Mary (Rachel Melvin), Zoe (Cortney Palm) and Jenn...

Genderbent Jack and Sally
I’m not sure what the official term is, but "crossplay" or rule 63 cosplay seems to be all the rage. I think gender bending interpretations of characters hit its pinnacle the other day with Batman as a pretty princess, which was a male cosplayer dressed as a female Batman, maybe? I’m not quite certain what the point of it actually was, I just know it was funny.
While rule 63 art is no more uncommon than all the femme/male twists we see in cosplay, it is rare to see genderswap art that can firmly straddle being faithful and accurate to the character while also being totally inventive. Artist Sakimi Chan does just that with this spectacular series of genderswap fan art.
We’ve previously featured Chan’s more traditional takes on a couple of these characters, like Princess Mononoke and Ariel, as well as some...

Face Off Episode 603
“Dragon’s Breath”
Original Airdate: 28 January 2014
In This Episode…
The contestants are tasked with creating a dragon - but not necessarily a fire-breathing dragon. They must pick a battle-damaged shield and create a dragon that would have created that damage. The choices: tarred, sandblasted, frozen, slimed, quilled, corroded, and charred.
The Creations
Rashaad - Tarred. I thought his dragon looked kind of like the Predator. Not necessarily bad, just not particularly unique. Overall, the judges were impressed with how much work he did (he included wings) and the subtlety of his paint technique.
Tyler - Frozen. This vulture-like dragon reminded me of a bird version of Jack Frost (from the horror film). Glenn thought it was super-cool; Ve thought he created one of the best sets of wings she has ever seen on the show; Neville thought there were lots of intelligent choices.

This week sees the release of Colin Firth’s new film The Railway Man, an adaptation of Eric Lomax’s true story of working on the Thai/Burma railway as a prisoner of war and, later in life, meeting the Japanese officer who’d tormented him. We’re in awards season now and Colin Firth has become one of those actors that every year or two seems to be in an ‘important’ film. He is a worthy English gent in the time of Danny Dyer Dtv releases and foreign financed Vinnie Jones films. He has won an Oscar for Best Actor, his films have grossed nearly a billion dollars worldwide and he is a thoroughly likeable chap. He’s come a long way since his debut as ‘Jack Frost’ in the infant’s school pantomime.
Is he more than this though? Unlike his, well, stable-mate Hugh Grant, Firth can jump from genre to genre.

Back in October we introduced you to a Tumblr blog called If It Were Stine, comprised of front and back covers for faux Goosebumps books, based on popular fan-favorite horror flicks. At the time, the artists on the site had created covers for films like Halloween 3, Carrie and Suspiria, giving the movies family friendly R.L. Stine-inspired makeovers - Suspiria becoming Attack of the Ballet Witches, for example. If It Were Stine is just the kind of fun project we absolutely love here on FEARnet, and we're here today to unload a brand new pile of books on ya.
Since we made that post, the If It Were Stine archives have been beefed up quite a bit, and the blog has been infused with ample doses of the holiday horror spirit. Films like Black Christmas, Jack Frost and Rare Exports have all been given the Stine treatment in recent weeks,...

Friends, as we approach another Christmas, it’s time to limp across the finish line, gasping for air. In 2011, by himself, Josh took a look at the 1994 holiday comedy The Santa Clause. In 2012, Josh and Gabe, along with guest Marc Vibbert, did the same with the 2002 sequel, The Santa Clause 2. And now, it’s just Josh and Gabe, gaping in awe at the terror and foul horror of the 2006 end of the trilogy, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. On the one hand, sure, this movie has Tim Allen, Martin Short as Jack Frost, Alan Arkin, Ann-Margret, and more. But on the other hand, it has Martin Short singing a poor parody of “New York, New York,” and Alan Arkin doing some of the worst acting of his life. Put it this way, there are plenty of tangents in this episode because it just got too painful to...
