Militia Vox is an American singer, songwriter/composer, Host, Actress, Visual Artist, Director, Producer and Model. She has no regard for genre, gender roles or stereotypes. A truly modern multi-hyphenate artist with a DIY ethos; this black cat has had many lives and has always broken boundaries.
Militia's mesmerizing presence, raw power and 4 octave range has captured the hearts of icons and outsiders alike. Her and her bands are always crowd favorites at international festivals and events- everything from biker rallies to prestigious museums. Militia Vox draws from a sonic palette of heavy metal, progressive / psychedelic rock, grunge, goth/industrial and horror scores.
Militia has recorded, toured and performed with some of the best in the business, including: Twisted Sister, Living Colour, L7, John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Sandra Bernhard, Cyndi Lauper, Nancy Sinatra, Taylor Dayne, Nona Hendrix and Paul Schaffer. Her unique voice, musical perspective and style have also garnered her praise from the music media and legends such as Dee Snider, Corey Glover, Kembra Pfahler and Kathleen Hanna.
Militia was the 1st Host / VJ of color on Fuse / Much Music USA and hosted Fuse's 1st reality TV show "Heavy Metal Makeover." M has also Hosted and Guest Starred on MTV2, Vh1 and Global TV. She Hosts live music events and festivals, speaks at colleges and conferences including Berklee College of Music, SXSW. Militia also produces events in NYC with her company, Militious Productions. She is featured in many books and music documentaries- as both the subject and music authority.
M has starred in Off-Broadway, European Tours and National touring productions such as Dee Snider's Van Helsing's Curse, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Rocky Horror Show, Chix 6 and her own one woman shows "Militia Vox: Live in Times Scare" and "House of Voodoo." She often appears as Mistress of Ceremonies / Chanteuse at legendary cabarets- The Box, House of Yes and Duane Park.
She creates, directs, produces and performs in her award-winning music videos and immersive art installations. Her innovative work has won awards and official selections at many music and film festivals.
