Is Paramount+ cleaning house?
It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.
The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.
We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.
Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.
But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.
Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.
These things happen.
It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.
But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

“Joe Pickett” has been canceled at Paramount+ after two seasons, Variety has learned.
The drama series was originally commissioned by Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals in early 2021. The first season aired on that platform beginning in December 2021, with Spectrum announcing a second season order in February 2022.
However, Spectrum Originals head Katherine Pope was named head of Sony Pictures Television in July 2022, with Charter announcing it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals operations in August of that year. Paramount+ has the streaming rights to the series, as it is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Season 2 airing on the streaming service beginning in June 2023. Both seasons will remain available on the service for the time being.
“Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. The series is based on the Joe Pickett novels written by C.J. Box.

Billy the Kid will be back on TV screens very soon.
MGM+ this week that Billy the Kid Season 2 will debut on Sunday, October 15, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
There is a little bit of a catch:
Four episodes of the season will air this year, with the final four being held until 2024.
A reason for the decision has not been revealed, but there's a good chance it has something to do with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Last summer, a TV series based on the Resident Evil video game franchise made its debut on the Netflix streaming service – and was quickly cancelled. That show was an entirely separate project from Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, the feature film that was released at the end of 2021… and it looks like Welcome to Raccoon City was the more successful of the two projects, because it might actually be getting a follow-up! That movie came to us from Raccoon Hg Film Productions and was filmed in Greater Sudbury, a city in Ontario, Canada. Sudbury.com reports that a mysterious movie called Umbrella Chronicles, which is backed by Raccoon Hg Film Productions, is receiving $2 million in funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to film in the Greater Sudbury area. Since this movie is coming from the same production company as Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, is going...

Popular genre franchises never truly die; they’re always primed to rise from the grave in mutated modernized forms. Thus, following six feature films headlined by Milla Jovovich (and often spearheaded by director Paul W.S. That tack proves to be . Throw in chintzy CGI effects, and the theatrical prognosis for this undead saga appears dire.

The seventh and final season of The 100 is almost upon us, and as you’ll see in the just-released trailer, it’s going to be a bloodbath.
The 100‘s last hurrah kicks off on Wednesday, May 20 (The CW, 8/7c) with a premiere appropriately titled “From the Ashes.” Per the official synopsis, this first hour finds “Clarke and her friends [attempting] to rebuild Sanctum as a new threat rises in the woods.” Additional (vague) synopses hint at other obstacles to overcome, including uncovering the truth about grown-up Hope’s mysterious past, easing dissent among opposing factions within Sanctum, and investigating a few troubling disappearances.

Based on the return of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester alone, one could certainly say that Supernatural‘s 300th episode has a lot going for it. After all, we’ve been waiting for his comeback since season 2 concluded – and that was twelve years ago!
Still, it’d be foolish to assume him to be the only ace the producers have up their sleeve for the milestone. Believe it or not, someone who once proved to be an incredible thorn in the sides of Sam and Dean will also be along for the ride, and Entertainment Weekly recently coughed up their identity.
According to the publication, Kurt Fuller will reprise his role of Zachariah, the a–hole of an angel who met his end during the 100th episode, “Point of No Return.” Granted, we’ve seen a variation of the character much more recently than season 5, but that was a doppelganger from an alternate universe.

"A mind is a terrible thing to break." Dread Central Presents has released the official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Extremity, the latest feature from director Anthony Diblasi. Extremity plays with the popular modern horror concept of "extreme haunts", or experiences horror fans can pay for that put them in horrific, torturous situations. The plot follows a young woman obsessed with horror who subjects herself to hours of grueling torment inside an extreme haunt in an attempt to confront her fears and conquer the tragic past that haunts her. Starring Dana Christina, J. Larose, Cam Damage, September D'Angelo, Felissa Rose, Tiffany Shepis, Chad Rook, Michael St. Michaels, Natalie Victoria, and Ricky Dean Logan. I wasn't even sure if I should post this, but it just looks so crazy with some seriously freaky imagery, I couldn't help it. You hve to see all this for yourself. Here's the first...

Much like the DC TV shows that also populate The CW’s prime time lineup, Supernatural has developed an affinity for exploring alternate realities as of late. Actually, it’s nothing new to the series, with season 6’s “The French Mistake” remaining among my all-time favorite episodes, but the idea hasn’t been exploited to this degree until relatively recently.
Aside from “the Bad Place,” another realm that we’ve visited this season is that of “Apocalypse World,” which is pretty self-explanatory. But if you’re unfamiliar, the long and short of it is that it’s a place where Sam and Dean Winchester were never born, thus they were never able to prevent the end of the world.
So far, we’ve met alternate takes on Bobby Singer and Michael, both of which are a bit rougher than their counterparts on what we’ll call “Earth-1.” Well, in truth,...

"I refuse to accept the end of man." 20th Century Fox has revealed one final trailer for the new War for the Planet of the Apes movie, directed again by Matt Reeves, continuing (and likely ending) this latest trilogy of Apes movies. The last trailer for this is one of my favorite trailers this year so far, and this movie is most #1 most anticipated of the year (followed by Blade Runner 2049, The Last Jedi, and Dunkirk). Andy Serkis returns to play Caesar, and the cast includes Woody Harrelson as his adversary, the Colonel. Also starring Judy Greer as Cornelia, Max Lloyd-Jones as Blue Eyes, plus Steve Zahn, Chad Rook, Ty Olsson, Aleks Paunovic and Sara Canning. I'm completely sold on this movie already, so I don't need to see any more. But this is an superb trailer that plays up the epic feeling of this man vs ape war.
