A horse is a horse, of course, of course, except when that horse is actually a symbolic endorsement of a controversial geopolitical movement that could escalated tensions with the Chinese.
Madam Secretary Season 3 Episode 10 was nice lighthearted break from the recent heavier issues the show tackled.
Blake found himself in a manufactured international comedy of errors, Russell was right back up to his old tricks, and Henry just can't stay away from spy craft.
I really expected hippophile Elizabeth to be the one most invested in the titular horse's future, so Blake's sudden devotion was surprising. And hilarious.
I just kept picturing him begging for a pony as a kid and only getting those Breyer figurines instead.
I can only assume (and hope) that the Mongolian Independence issue and Russian hacking will come up again later in Madam Secretary Season 3 so that this plot line was good for more than...

Another year, another move further away from caring about pop. Whether that's pop's fault or mine, I'm not sure. But there was still plenty of great new music released in 2015, and here, according to my idiosyncratic tastes, are the best albums, or at least my favorites.
1. Wire: Wire (Pink Flag)
This is said to be the first time that Bruce Gilbert's replacement, guitarist Matthew Simms, was heavily involved in the creation of a Wire album, and the result is...the closest Wire has ever come to sounding like a Colin Newman album. I exaggerate for effect, but only slightly: most everything thrums along smoothly and motorik-ly, he takes all the lead vocals (though Graham Lewis supposedly wrote many of the lyrics), and there are none of the post-punkier outbursts of the group's previous two reunion albums, though near the end of Wire, the one-two punch of "Split Your Ends" and "Octopus" come close.

Chicago – Need a break from the noise of the holidays? Step Up Productions, – in residence at Chicago Dramatists Theater – present “HoliDaze,” a collection of six one-act plays, all dealing with the nature and nurture of the season. The showcase runs through December 21st, 2014.
Play Rating: 4.0/5.0
This is an eclectic bunch, with themes and subjects that range from the life cycle to New Year’s Eve connections. There are interesting lives to experience, including a hook-up at a business convention that produces relationship ennui. The one-act plays are poignant, funny and radical, and is a perfect respite from the runaround of the holidays, with enough tinsel to keep the Xmas on the 25th.

My Little Princess starts at 10pm on Monday, February 25 on E4.

Disclaimer: I love anything with the brand name Fringe. Period. Walter is my constant. Still, as someone who has stuck with the series from day one, I'm feeling a little queasy about this final season and I have to ask: am I alone? I was and still am thankful that Fox saw fit to give [...]

Under the theme "Build Your Own World," more than 100 artists are creating fanciful universes in the hopes of prompting civic engagement at this arts-and-tech biennial in San Jose. We peeked at six intriguing projects.
David RockwellPlug-in-Play The biennial's interactive centerpiece uses inputs both physical (bullhorns, hopscotch) and virtual (Twitter) to record crowd activity and project it abstractly on the facade of City Hall. "You'll sense how your performance is part of an overall performance of city life." Natalie Jeremijenko XAirport Staged artificial wetlands make the case for saving these ecosystems by using them as light-sport landing strips. "Regulations exist, but the excitement about wetlands is not there. That's the shift I play with, using the techno-fetishism of flight." Michael Sarff All Raise This Barn, West This digital-age barn raising asks participants to answer 100 yes-or-no questions (Is the window centered? Is the barn invisible?) and then build the structure on-site, in a day,...

"Crackdown 2" comes out next week, but since the demo on Xbox Live offers up most of the game's major features (just with a 30-minute time limit), it's a great way to get prepped for the real thing. Now you can focus on earning demo achievements or clearing out freak lairs if you really want. But why bother when you can drive your friends crazy? As it turns out, "Crackdown 2" is one of the best games for griefing ever made, giving you the chance to screw your friends over at every turn. And here's five great ways to do that!
The Alabama Roof Push
There's a weapon in "Crackdown 2" called the Uv Shotgun which unlocks at Guns Level 2. This should be the griefer's best friend. The gun's true purpose is to kill the mutant-like freaks en masse, but shooting non-freaks makes the gun act like a non-lethal force push, sending the...

Arena Stage presents Stick Fly, a thought-provoking comedy that explores the role of race and privilege in the African-American social aristocracy. Director of the 2004 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun, Kenny Leon returns to Arena Stage to direct this witty and insightful comedy. Stick Fly is written by playwright Lydia R. Diamond, whose plays include The Bluest Eye and The Gift Horse, among others. Stick Fly is being produced in collaboration with the Huntington Theatre Company. Stick Fly runs January 1 - February 7, 2010 at Arena Stage in Crystal City. The press opening performance is Thursday, January 7, 2010.
"I love Lydia's play, and to have Kenny direct it is a dream," said Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith. "Lydia is a great storyteller who has an uncanny ear for dialogue. She says what she thinks, feels and wants through her plays. Kenny is a renaissance man. He understands the psychology of human beings.
