I feel that, in many ways, 'Live for the Moment' should be rough around the edges. It's not a film that should be a glossy production; I was fuelled by emotion and desire at the time of filming, something that I wanted to capture through using a handheld camera and unconventional techniques. I'm aware that some audiences may be alienated by such an approach, but to me 'Live for the Moment' is exactly what I wanted to make - a first film that has a self-fulfilling vision, a meaning that relates to my life and not necessarily the lives of others. It was a deeply personal project on a lot of different levels. I'm now determined to craft pictures that resonate with a variety of audiences, films that challenge their emotions and perceptions. I may not have reached that level with my first film, but I do feel that it has provided solid foundations from which to grow.
