Syfy’s “Haven” series plays the standard love triangle with an attractive FBI agent that is caught between a good-natured local cop and the bad but charming Duke Crocker, played by Eric Balfour. But relationships all around are complicated by the strange occurrences at the idyllic seaside Maine town, which is actually a refuge for the cursed. Speakeasy spoke with Balfour about “Haven’s” second season, which started earlier this month, and his other projects.

Actor Eric Balfour has been hired to turn his attentions to behind the camera and turn Jesus Hates Zombies, the graphic novel from Stephen Lindsay, into a feature-length movie from a script written by Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith.
The graphic novel tells of a zombie plague taking over the world, as we've seen play out in movies, comics, games, and TV shows so many times now, but this time the creator himself is watching and doesn't like what he sees, so he once again sends Jesus back to Earth -- this time to throw down with the zombie horde.
As far as directing goes, Balfour has only taken part in a film called Do Not Disturb with four other directors. But you surely recognize him from his many acting roles over the years, which began with Kids Incorporated (remember that one?) and includes Six Feet Under, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,...

Got zombies? Have no fear, as long as you believe in Jesus, you’ll be saved. Or he’ll try to save you, anyway. “Skyline’s” Eric Balfour has signed on to direct “Jesus Hates Zombies”, a live-action film based on the comic book series by Stephen Lindsay. Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith adapted the comic, which boasts this for a plot: In a not so distant future, zombies have overrun the earth. Fearing for the future of humanity, God sends his son Jesus Christ to save humanity. Upon returning, he finds that his powers are greatly diminished as they are tied to others’ faith in him. So he sets out to find the last remaining faithful and rally them to his cause. Along the way he comes across various friends including Mother Theresa, Elvis Presley, a stripper named King, and a time traveling Abraham Lincoln, who brings his own problem along.

TV actor and sometimes movie star, Eric Balfour, is set to direct a comic book adaptation of Stephen Lindsay's "Jesus Hates Zombies" according to Joblo.
Balfour had this to say about the project:
.It.s an honor to be a part of this project. It.s bold, unapologetic, and controversial. When I read the script I was blown away by how well the writers had given life to Stephen.s graphic novel. What most intrigued me about the project was it.s heart and message. There is plenty of comedy and action in the script but what I wasn.t expecting and am most excited about bringing to the screen is it.s message of love and faith. I love when a script can break the mold and offer something unique and I.m going to work my ass off to honor Michael and Jason.s great script, and Stephen.s fantastically unique world.

With a title like Jesus Hates Zombies, we are definitely on board Eric Balfour's feature film directorial debut. As so is Mali (Do Not Disturb) Elfman, who has just officially signed on to produce the project.
According to Tonight at the Movies, the script was written by Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith based on Stephen Lindsay’s comic book of the same name. Elfman explains why she joined the production as follows: "Though there have been other zombie films before, what attracted me to this film was its edginess, dark sense of humor, and intelligent commentary that really sets the film apart."
Balfour elaborates, "It’s an honor to be a part of this project. It’s bold, unapologetic, and controversial. When I read the script, I was blown away by how well the writers had given life to Stephen’s graphic novel. What most intrigued me about...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Skyline star Eric Balfour will be taking his talents outside of the acting arena as he'll be directing a live-action adaptation of Stephen Lindsay's Jesus Hates Zombies, writes Tatm. Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith will be writing the screenplay for the Alterna Comics' series that has been one of the best-selling comics on Android since its debut in mid-2009. An adaptation of the Stephen Lindsay comic book called Jesus Hates Zombies is coming, and will be directed by Skyline‘s Eric Balfour. Everything seems still rather preliminary but here’s what Balfour said about the project.

Eric Balfour is making the transition from acting with an adaptation of the graphic novel Jesus Hates Zombies . The Skyline and Texas Chainsaw Massacre star is partnering with producer Mali Elfman (he worked with her on Do Not Disturb ) to bring Stephen Lindsay's comic book to life. Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith are penning the script. Here's a bit of praise for the screenplay from Balfour: "What most intrigued me about the project was it.s heart and message. Jesus is back and he’s ready for his final showdown with the angel Gabriel and his army of the undead. Yes, Jesus is ready to take on the undead hordes, and he’s brought his pal Abraham Lincoln along with him. Okay, this all sounds crazy, but that's the best thing about Jesus Hates Zombies featuring Lincoln Hates Werewolves in Yea, Though I Walk Volume 4 (see, even the title is insane).
For a book called Jesus Hates Zombies, this is not nearly as blasphemous as you might think it would be. Writer Stephen Lindsay does not make fun of Jesus; he doesn’t even really make fun of Christians (which would be an easy way for a weaker writer to go). He just wants to tell...

Fubar is a zombie anthology with a twist. The stories take place during World War II. The conflict and tension of war is only heightened when legions of undead monsters are thrown into the mix. This unique backdrop also proves to be a wellspring of creativity, as evidenced by the great stories being told in this collection.
There are so many interesting tales in this collection, and I wish that I could mention them all. A few stories that I really enjoyed were "Bearer of Secrets", about a Jewish executioner,...
